A futuristic drama, "2088" is the story of John, a man living in the metropolis South Dakota City, and his trial of existing among an overpowering capitalistic world. Fired from his job, things for John fall apart upon meeting a misfit named Logan. He finds himself on the run, wanted by the government. The choices he will make not only determine his fate and death, but what kind of man he becomes.

The story of "2088" begins and is written in start with the trivial nature of John's life. If the reader pushes past the initial boring speech, an unraveling of his life brings about changes in the book's style.
When John gets fired from his job of interviewing people for his own job, at Morning Glory Power, out of desperation he takes a job at the sewage company. As his relationship with his wife and children widen, with strange messages from CC showing up on his computer, John tries to keep his life together, pay his bills and stay afloat.
A derelict named Logan befriends him, and John's life is torn apart. Logan is wanted by the government, John is entangled. He runs, and all alone tries to make sense of the world and the future, while hiding in the futuristic metropolis of South Dakota City.
