—— “He slowly understands that when a person is alive, he has to be ready to endure hardships at any time. He has read some books and knows that both ordinary people and great people have to endure many hardships in his life.”
The first edition of "Ordinary World" was published in 1986. It was based on the background of China from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, and it showed the life of ordinary people in certain conditions.
Lu Yao, whose real name is Wang Weiguo, was born in Qingjian County, Yulin, Northern Shaanxi in 1949 and died in 1992. Representative works: "Ordinary World", "Life", etc.
In December 1978, the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee was held. In 1982, the household contract responsibility system was established. In 1987, the basic route of "one center, two basic points" was proposed. In 1988, "Science and technology is the first productive force" was proposed. In 1993, the supply of grain and oil were opened up, and grain tickets were officially declared to be out of use.
I often think that these three generations born after 1990 (post-90s, post-00s, post-10s) are the luckiest three generations in China for at least nearly 100 years. Those seemingly absurd, ignorant, and dim days finally ended just a few years before we were born. Whenever I think of the fact, I can’t help feeling horrified. It seems that Chinese people just came back from the cliff.
The three generations of us naturally have difficulties that our generation must face. Whether it is "class solidification" or "cannot afford a house to look down upon," it is a practical challenge that most ordinary family children must face. However, compared with the difficulties faced by the predecessors in the repressed and fanatical social environment, I think what we face is a piece of cake.
Indeed, there are still many problems in our time. But is this the mission of our generation to fix them? The dividends post-90s can enjoy are at the expense of the sacrifice of the post-60s. Similarly, the post-60s must create a broader and enlightened future for the post-20s.
In the future, when we look back at 2020 is just like when we look at the 1990s, we may think about how difficult and unfortunate the people ’s lives were in 2020. Such an opinion shows that our generation has played its historical role, and truly help society become better.
From the perspective of the development of the Chinese nation, 2020 is also a year to be recorded in history. Only when I read the difficult environment beyond my imagination, I can realize how great it is to build a well-off society.
On December 6, 1979, Deng Xiaoping met with Japanese Prime Minister Masayoshi Ohira and said that "Our four concepts of modernization are not modern concepts like yours. What we mean is to make every family have a well-off life." It took us more than 40 years to develop our country, and finally, we almost touch this goal. How amazing it is.
Of course, compared with developed countries, we are still too far away. But how can we force us to use 40 years of hard work to surpass the accumulation of those countries which have struggled for 100 years or even 200 years? If we do not actively or passively go astray, we may be able to compete evenly with the former in 100 years. I’m full of confidence about life in China in 2049.
Today, the post-90s are gradually taking over the baton of the times. I think we should take a firm path on the road of carrying weight in the next 30 years. We can, and we must make a difference.
