Slow Steps to Love is the touching story of an aged writer from an aristocratic family who has lost his passion for writing and his zest for life. However, after meeting Yai Li, an elderly woman from the slums of Bangkok who has a gift for healing through massage, he rediscovers love, restoring his motivation to write and his equanimity. The novel takes place at the start of the pandemic and is filled with perceptive insights into how past events have helped to shape modern Bangkok, as well as serving to remind us that each day of life is a gift and should be appreciated.

The author has given an emotive and touching exploration not only of how relationships evolve over time, but has done a wonderful job of emersing the reader in Thai culture along the way. A moving and worthwhile book.
