My Kindergartner and I enjoyed this book. With vibrant colors and cute characters, this picture book joins robot Wimee as he sets out to learn about the dollar bills he received in the mail from his Grandma. The cast of characters learn what money is and that to get money, you must work for it. Together, they do just that by starting a dog walking business and sticking with it for a week. The story is short, easy to understand, adorable and fun. My daughter enjoyed listening to it.
After Wimee spends the money his grandmother gave him, he is surprised to find he has some leftover. He then takes it home to put into two jars, one to save and one to give to help others. From a Christian parent perspective, I do wish that the book encouraged giving and saving first, before spending. The money Wimee received was a gift however and as such, I believe he was entitled to spend it on something he wanted. For an educational book, it may have offered a better value for teaching early financial habits if presented differently.
I enjoyed the educational information in the back of the book and it was helpful to point out the various coins to my daughter when explaining their value.
Note: This book offers no faith-based content and secular.

My Review:
Mr Bill teaches the gang about coins and paper money. It was fun to read how Wimee doesnt understand what these things are and how he watches in amazement. After Wimee receives some money in the mail from his grandmother he looks for is friends to help him decide what these things are. He finds them at the park for the day. Everyone is gathered around the fountain watching the water ripple and splash.
Mr bill proceeds to tell Wimee and his friends what money is and what it can be used for. Then Wimee asks why do people throw money into the water. Then they all want to know how they can get some of this "money". It was sweet little story and it teaches your child, as well.
**Disclosure**This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher.
“Wimee Learns About Money” is an entertaining and educational picture book showcasing Wimee the robot (as seen on PBS.)
When Wimee receives a card in the mail from his grandmother, he’s surprised to find green pieces of paper with numbers and faces on them. When he finds his friends at the park, he asks if they know what the papers are, and soon learns the various looks and values of money.
This story serves as a valuable tool for children to learn about the value of earning, saving, spending, and investing money.

#CoverLoverBookReview received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.
If you have a grandkid birthday coming up just stick this in your cart! That's my plan. I'm getting a card, sticking some money in it and including this book. It's the perfect combo.
The book does a delightful job of teaching the concepts of earning, saving, spending, and giving money. The characters are from a popular children's show so most likely they will be familiar with them.
There's also a great section in the back that goes more in depth of what is money, how do you get it, what do you do with it, and finally where do you keep it. I thought this section would especially appeal to home educators. It would be a good supplement to any beginning unit on money.
It's also worth noting that this book is just one in a series of Wimee books. If this one interests you go take a look at the others. I think you'll like them too!
It can be hard for younger children to learn about and understand money. In Wimee Learns About Money a popular PBS character and his friends teach children about money - what it is, what it is used for, and how to get some. Stephanie Kammeraad tells the story in a way simple enough for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children to understand. The book ends with a “nonfiction” section of more facts about money which would be useful even to older children. The colorful illustrations are cute and match the style of the graphics on the television program. They compliment the text well. Wimee Learns About Money would be a great addition to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library. I received a complimentary copy of Wimee Learns About Money. This is my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley, the authors, and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest review. I am not familiar with the show that these characters are based on, with that being said, it didn't inhibit my ability to know what was going on in the story. This book teaching children about money, its' worth, how to get it and what it's used for. This is perfect for smaller children to teach them the fundamentals. I enjoyed the more in depth information that came after the story line about each coin and dollar amounts. This is definitely a book I will get for my children to help them with this concept. The illustrations were amazing and full of vivid color! Highly recommend!
Wimee Learns About Money is a beautifully illustrated and wonderfully written book about financial literacy for young readers. Not only is the story fun and engaging, but it also covers several concepts such as saving, spending, and giving, which are often difficult topics to explain to early learners. I love how the book talks through these ideas in a playful way that makes learning about money fun!
I think my favorite part of Wimee Learns About Money is the information that is provided in the back, which acts as a guide to further dive into the concepts covered in the book. This addition is a great resource that allows the ideas in the book to live on past the page.
As an educator, I think this is a wonderful and engaging book that not only teaches kids the basics of what money is, but also encourages them to find ways to earn money on their own and teaches kids how to be good stewards of their money by showing the value in saving and giving to others. It is a fun, entertaining story, while also serving as a a great educational tool. I especially love the last few pages that gives a more in depth look into what money is, how you get money, what you can do with money and where to store money! I would highly recommend this book to any teachers or parents of young children!
The PBS show "Wimee's Words" presents the episode //Wimee Learns About Money//. Wimee is a robot with friends Moby, Sylvia, and Siblee and their neighbor, Mr. Bill. Wimee just received a letter from his grandma with pieces of green paper; confused, he visits his friends to ask about this. When he finds them, he notices small, sparkling circles in a nearby fountain; he's confused again. Mr. Bill teaches them about coins and bills - what they are made from, what to do with them, and how to get more! Wimee and his friends discover a way to earn more money, get what they want, and distribute the leftover money - save, spend, and give.
This was such a great read to show the REAL money and not just swiping a credit/debt card. I loved everything about it and cannot wait to really dive into this with my son and class. Not only does this story touch on what money is, but also how to EARN the money, and then save and/or spend it. Wonderful real life things!!
And when they talk about throwing money/coins into a fountain: I laughed. Real life child answer with wishing for ice cream!!
If you watch PBS, you may be familiar with Wimee and friends. This is a great and simple book about money. It goes into the basics of income and expense, as well as other financial terms. Wimee gets some money from Grandma but he doesn’t understand much about it. Mr. Bill explains how money works when Wimee’s friends has some questions about how they can get some money after finding out what they can do with money – spend it on stuff they need or want! Your little one can learn some more about money in this colorful, fun book.
Excellent choice of subject to help explain the concepts about money to kids. The drawings are bright and colorful and have lots of details to attract the eye. The descriptions are mostly basic, tho there are a few words and phrases that will probably require some explanation. The end of the book includes drawings and explanations of the variety of coins and bills used in the US. Everybody needs this basic understanding of money, so this is a good way to help familiarize kids with the options.
Wimee Learns About Money is about a robot who receives money and wants to find out its purpose. After finding out, he and his friends decide to work together to make money to buy themselves something nice. This book is a nice gentle introduction to finance for children. Although I did find Mr. Bill's name a tad bit cringe and too obvious. Otherwise, it was a very easy to follow story.
Brightly colored, easy to understand and at first I thought Mr. Bill was going to get the kids to throw the money away in the fountain but it took a turn and at the end you get a real life view of the current currency. It’s a good first step in teaching young readers, but it only touches the basics.
Such a great book to learn about money for young minds with so many questions. It covers what money is, how to earn it, save it and give it to others. Well written with fun, quirky ideas and great, colorful illustrations! The end of the book had more facts about money. I read it to my grandkids and they loved it! They asked me to read it again!!
Wimee gets money from grandma and doesn’t know what to do with it. He learns with his friends about all the ways to earn, spend, save, and share money. Great book to start money and spending discussions with your children.
I shared this book with my grandkids and they loved it! We are all big Wimee fans already so they were already excited to open this latest adventure. And ...bonus! We not only learned about counting money, but also responsible earning behaviors too!

Wimee is adorable! Kids will love reading about their favorite character from the PBS show, and it's a great way to share early lessons about important life skills. It's great to teach money management at an early age. Thanks for sending a copy our way for review, Zondervan!
My 6 year old son and I had so much fun reading this book. It was a great way to explain money and how it works, and what you can do with it. I was so excited to see that he grasped the concept of what we "need" versus what we "want." Highly recommend this book to the little ones.
Wimee Learns About Money is a great book for early-readers or as a read-aloud story time book. Not only teaches children about the different denominations but ways to make and spend, too.
I won my copy in a Goodreads Giveaway and will pass it on to a grandchild. Wouldn’t it be fun to pair it with spend, save and give jars with a little start in each?
I’ll definitely put this book on my ‘buy’ list for gifts.
I received an electronic ARC from Zonderkidz through NetGalley. Wimee gets a birthday present from his grandmother and doesn't know what the green pieces of paper are. He seeks out his friends, Moby and Siblee, to see if they can help him. Readers journey along as they, along with another friend, Sylvia, learn from Mr. Bill. I appreciate the author teaching about saving, spending and giving for a balanced approach to money management. She shares the information at a level younger readers will understand. They learn about earning money, spending money, saving some and saving some to give. The characters are familiar to those who watch Wimee's Words but readers will connect to them as as stand alone book as well. The artwork is brightly colored and pulls readers in to learn more.
