Eight foundational skills for loving and relating to others in healthy ways.

1. Community Temperature Reading: increase awareness of ourselves and others through brief sharing (appreciation, puzzles, new information, complaints with possible solutions and hopes/wishes)

2. Stop Mind Reading: clarify what others are thinking instead of making assumptions.

3. Clarify expectations: recognize whether or not expectations are valid and clarify them with others.

4. Genogram: become aware of unhealthy habits of relating from our family of origin.

5. Explore the Iceberg: Become aware of the emotions we’re experiencing and become able to process them.

6. Listen Incarnatjonally: Listen at a heart level with empathy, present and tuned in to another person.

7. Climb the Ladder of Integrity: clarify your values and assert yourself respectfully.

8. Fight Cleanly: Resolve conflict maturely by elongating dirty fighting tactics and taking responsibility for the issue.

This was a solid workbook, and gave me some tools to talk through with my therapist. It is also a good starting point if you've never done any sort of therapy before.

This was the 2nd "Emotional Healthy..." series I have gone through, and I think I liked the first one better. As both series are connected to the same reading material, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...), I am only counting that book towards my reading goals, instead of also counting the workbooks and devotionals.

Also read during this series was the Day by Day, 3⭐

Pete and Geri Scazzero know what they are talking about regarding relationships. They are very transparent about their own and how God helps them overcome insecurities and hang-ups in communication.

The models they use are adaptable to anyone. Encourage anyone to use the tools here to fine-tune your relationships.
