I read the intro and ended up skimming the first few sections as I have a 10 yo and have spent years researching what and how to manage media to date. I appreciated the format of the book. It was well edited with the anecdotal story boxes and questions. I also appreciated it was in parts. I used the index and confirmed the sections most relevant and then finished off the Part 3 before going basically to the Part 4 developmental stages check lists. Both reassuring to me and of the books content everything is the first 2 stages we did / do for ages 0-9 yo. For the tween 10-12 we have one planned thing and it was in the list. I think this is a great resource for someone who’s in need of a clear guide without a ton of drama like you get with parenting influencer content online.

This book is a precious gift to kids, parents, and modern society as a whole. It's full of compassion, practical solutions, and impressive empirical evidence. I believe that children’s screen time is one of the most consequential—yet misunderstood—challenges facing our collective future. Dr. Rich has given us the definitive guide to raising balanced and happy human beings in this age of ubiquitous distraction.
