A beautiful, hardcover book with many color pictures and interesting bios and questions of San Francisco chefs. Unfortunately, the recipes are WAY beyond my skill level with ingredients that I have never heard of yet alone would know where to purchase them. If you are a very experienced and adventurous cook, this may be a useful book for you, but for your average home cook, not so much. Also, the book's size and binding make it difficult to stay open on a countertop while cooking. "In compliance with FTC guidelines, I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads."

Excellent book. I feel like I just got back from a quick trip to San Francisco. I’ve eaten at several of the restaurants highlighted in this book (Delfina, Foreign Cinema, Tartine Bakery, Chez Panisse, Souvla, to name a few).

The La Cocina incubator program focuses on talented low-income women of color and immigrant women, those often excluded from business opportunities. It helps women launch their business/restaurant, become financially independent, and claim their place in the culinary world.

Who knew that Turkey Tetrazzini was named after an opera singer staying at the Palace Hotel?

I thought I would like this. None of the recipes were anything that I would make and the text about the recipes, cooks, etc was not interesting to me.
