This book is engaging from the first page. I would describe it as a dark romance / mafia romance—bikers being the organized crime—that is not centered on spice.
There is a little spice but that is not all that the romance aspect is built from. For me, it is the tension and the interaction between the characters that sealed the deal. Their relationships are fun and engaging.
This is a real novel with a plot not word porn. You have outlaws that are easy to like and an upper class woman that’s thrown into their world.
The author is Canadian so some word choices may be slightly different than what you normally see with American novels.
That said, it did not take me out of the story. I was invested 100 percent through the entire read.
If you like bikers and dark romances, I think you will love this. I’m giving it 5 stars and have recommended to my friends that read the genre.
This is not my go to genre but I guarantee I will read all of Veronique’s books in her Skulls series.

This was the first book I have read and now I need I mean need more it was amazing I read it I. 5 hours I could not put it done there is some humor in the book as well as some very dark stuff but truly fantastic book

Biker romance? Yes, but it's so much more than that!
Unique characters build the tension you can cut with the knife. Intoxicating humor makes you giggle while watching the action unfold. Timeless values give you hope for humanity. Fast pace doesn't let you put the book down.

This book hits you right out of the gate. If you like bikers, mystery, intrigue and some spice, then this a read for you. The writing style is unique and it gives the story an extra punch. My favorite characters were Nord and Lucinda. Who will be yours? Make sure to check the trigger warnings first.

Motorcycle Group - Cute Fights - Forced Proximity
This story follows many different characters in multiple areas. It is like reading a script for a TV show so be prepared to meet the entire cast.
When an MC helps save a few American women from a terrible situation, they have been granted protection of the entire crew. The sexual tension between Summer, her friend Nat, and two of the baddest bikers in Skulls - Leif and Nord could be felt through the pages. The girls annoy the every living hell out of them but the boys enjoy fighting back. The banter is fun and I was left excited to read book 2.
This book ends on a cliff Hanger so beware!

ARC review
I love how fast paced this book is. And, this is a short book, but not too short. The author doesn't waste any time when jumping right into the story and it has a cliffhanger that makes you want book two in your hands immediately.
I also loved how there are a ton of characters with big personalities. Read this if you love slightly spicy, mafia romances!

This story follows Natalie and Summer, two best friends who set off for a vacation to remember. Quickly they find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time which leaves them fearing for their lives. When the head of the Skulls, the local biker organization steps in, it puts them on a life-altering path – in many ways.
I enjoyed this book overall. The book was very fast-paced, and you could tell by the pacing that the author wanted to get to the meat of the story, and not dwell too much on how they got there. While I often want more world-building and character-building in my stories, for this book – it worked. As the reader you want to see how the lives of the four main characters play out and the rest is just background noise.
This book is the first in a series.

Received a copy as part of the ARC Dragons group.
This was a good, quick evening read. It focuses on 4 siblings and 2 other female main characters, with some quirky and fun side characters. It centers around a trip gone wrong for the 2 FMC and the aftermath of what happens (Enter our 2 MC brothers).
The only thing for me personally was that the chapters flipped back and forth between one pair of MC and then to another. I would possibly recommend that maybe adding a name of the MC/couple that the chapter was being focused on.
The story does end on a cliffhanger, but there is the 2nd book, which I can't wait to start reading! I'm excited to see where this journey takes us!
There are a few triggers in this book, so check those out (SA [very brief], kidnapping, guns, death, and a few more). Your mental health is always the most important.
The spice level is lower in this book but is still there, so if you like a tiny bit of spice with your book, this would be one for you! Motorcycle hotties for the win here!

This book follows a motorcycle club, the Skulls, in New Mexico led by Leif and Nord Petersen. While they are outlaws in their own right, running an illegal weapons business that has garnered them wealth, they are definitely against what their nemesis, Gabriel Desperaldo is into. Which is trafficking women and children. The Skulls group jumps into action to try and save these women and children. The two they do save, Natalie and Summer, aren't necessarily saved and out of the woods yet. Now, Leif and Nord have to protect Natalie and Summer while also trying to stop Desperaldo from coming after them.

This book is a must read if you love bicker romance. I liked the edge of the story without it being to dark and descriptive. The brothers are powerfull men at theire best and the women are stubborn and sexy.
The bad guy is trafficking women and children and enters the skulls territory. This means war.
The romance between the bicker boys and the women builds gradualy and I hope to se a lot of steam to se reading on.
I am really looking forward to the next book!

This book was really good. I loved the banter between the characters. This is definitely book 1 of the series because the author is taking her time to introduce you to the characters and building the world of SKULLS. I loved where she is going with the book and I can't wait to read more. The only thing that I would change is for an English translation for the Spanish. This way non-spanish speakers can understand. Other than that, she captured me within minutes of reading this book! Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this story. Although some see it as spicy, personally I saw as tastefully done for dark romance thriller.
The interactions between the protagonists is very well written and not at all what I expected. There was no popping in things for the sake of trends and made it a great read.
Veronique gave substance and enjoyment to her story and her characters build up.
Looking forward to the next one now to see what happens.

Loved this book! Such a great concept and I loved the characters! Lief was top tier loved his interactions with his biker crew as well as with Natalie. This book follows the clash between 2 rival biker gangs in Mexico, the skulls are trying to stop the other gang from trafficking women and children. They end up rescuing 2 American women and the story unfolds from there trying to get them back on their feet and create a new life. Except nothing is that easy and there are other obstacles in their way meaning they have to be smart about it. The final scene is intense leaving it on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book. This book definitely left me wanting to read more and I highly recommend every checks this book out!

This book caught my attention right from the beginning.with the abduction of 2 American women Summer and Natalie . And being rescued by the biker group the skulls.Run by brothers El Diablo and Vampiro {Nord and Leif}..the ones the kidnapped the woman was Gabriel Desperaldo.the story takes place in New Mexico.
I can’t wait to read book 2, author Veronique has spiked my interest to see what happens next.this is a book I recommend others to read

Awesome Sauce!
This book pulls you into the story on the very first page. We have two female characters who become part of a certain ring. The are rescued by a biker gang called the "Skulls."
The majority of the story about the tension between the female characters and the leaders of the Skulls. It is fun, entertaining, and funny. It really feels like the The Godfather on motorcyles. It was that good.

Poorly written and very poorly edited. The story line was just okay but the overwhelming grammatical and punctuation errors made this almost unreadable. There are no paragraph indentations and dialogue tags are poorly done.

I really really really loved this book, it was very playful and the main character was amazing to get to know. I can't wait to read more of #AuthorVeronique books. I give you whole heartedly 5 stars my dear. Wonderful :)

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read, some spice and the chapters were short which I love in a book. The story was good and the end left me wanting to know what happens next!

Oh, my stars, this was an amazing debut novel by Veronique. I couldn't put the book down. The images of brothers Nord and Leif saving the damsels in destress is something to remember. The world building of the Skulls and their fortress was incredible. The roar of the engines, the girls' emotions and the tender care of the bikers' leader and his second in command is memorable. The whole story was dark and filled with danger, temptations and a world the girls have never dreamed of. It was intriguing to follow this story and finding yourself inside the nightmare of the two girls and what their life will become if they make it out alive. The ending on my gosh, what a cliffhanger. I want book two so bad. It ended on a cliffhanger like no other. I can't wait to read more!!!!

Mafia/Biker gang novels are not my usual read, but I like to try different genres every now and then.
Skulls is my first into the foray of spicy mafia/biker romance.
Skulls of course, is the name of the biker gang that MMC Leif Petterson (El Diablo) runs with his second in command and brother, Nord (Vampiro). At the beginning, we discover Leif has been in prison, for a crime he was set up for by his rival. This gives a brief introduction into their lethal enemy, Gabriel Desperaldo (El escorpion), whose evil empire includes dark themed crimes, such as the trafficking of women and children, and drugs.
The story also involves two friends, Natalie and Summer, who have decided to go on holiday to Mexico City. While there, they meet a man in a bar and are then drugged and abducted. Jumping forward, they are trafficked back into the USA, but the trafficking gang are intercepted by Leif and Nord's Skulls, who are vehemently against human trafficking, especially within their own territory. A deadly fight ensues; Summer is injured, but both Summer and Natalie escape with the help of the Skulls gang. This is where the tension, and story expand, introducing other characters of the Pettersen family into the scene.
Skulls is a novella length, action-packed story, full of sassy woman energy, romance and spice. There is a dark undercurrent in the book, due to the themes mentioned above, but there is also some light-hearted entertainment in the form of Big Joe, the cuddly biker side-kick. He is a favourite character of mine.
If you enjoy fast-paced, action packed books, full of leather clad bikers, villainous villains and anti-heroes, with a cliff-hanger ending, then this is the book for you.
