This is just a chapter or two from the Prince's POV, but I've been wanting to know what's going on in his head for a while, if only to know if my conjectures were true. Unfortunately, the Prince keeps his secrets well, as one must do in the treacherous fae realms. I'm still pretty sure I'm right, though . . .

You get this story free by signing up for the author's newsletter. I would advise reading it after reading book two because it gives the Prince's POV of memories that Clara remembers then.

Note: This is a review of the original version.

Firstly, please do NOT read this before book one as you will spoil things for yourself. Common sense really, but needs to be said.

This book is written from the point of view of Prince Castien and kind of reiterates, but strengthens, the scenes shown in book one from King Lodirhal's court with Clara Darlington. The reader will understand in more depth the cause of the Prince's hatred for Clara, but also why she should be at the Vespry where he resides, and in the Library where she belongs.

Great wee read.

Short novella available digitally for joining the author’s newsletter emails. The story is of Prince Castien’s POV watching Clara’s poetry reading at the king’s party. It’s a great glimpse and gives us a closer look to when Clara became an obligate to Castien’s cousin, but it isn’t needed in order to enjoy the series.

Entertaining use of about ten minutes, and I really enjoyed it.

Interesting to see the point of view of The Prince of the Doomed City. Learned a little bit more of what Clara did. And what her father did, it seems.

Book 1.5 from the series Prince of the Doomed City gives us precisely the story as seen through Prince Castien's eyes and it fills in some details we might have been querying after reading book 1. It is a short story, too short in my opinion as I am really enjoying this series, and a bit repetitive to say the truth. However through this book we get to see the Prince in a bit of a different light, as we understand better where he is coming from and the losses he has suffered which turned him quite bitter towards Clara Darlington. We also see why he is bitter towards his father, the dying king Lodirhal who runs the Court of Dawn but has him banished to Vespre, the troll island where all the noswraiths are kept in the Vespre library. Castien has come during the festivities with a plan, one which would test Clara's powers which have been kept in check by her mistress Princess Estrilde. He knew now he should have taken Clara to Vespre, where she belonged, five years ago but he was too bitter over his mother's death to see her daily in his own home. Now the need for her powers though led him back to the Court of Dawn and the rest is already history for those who have read book 1 in this amazingly captivating series with very charismatic characters. I really cannot wait to read book 2!

This is a prequel/bonus addition to “Entranced.” The first book in the “Prince of the Doomed City” series. And it provide some of the early events of “Entranced” from Castian’s POV, but it also gives insight to some of Castian’s more bitter feelings toward Clara via some spoiler-ish things you don’t find out from Clara herself until the second book, or even the third book, I some cases.

If you want to read this and not be surprised or spoiled before finishing the first book, I recommend at least eating until you finish “Entangled” (book 2) or “Ensorcelled” (book three). I am making that recommendation personally as I read this bonus story whilst in the middle of the fourth book and am writing this review as I read the fifth and final book of the series.

This short story is available by signing up for Sylvia Mercedes’ newsletter. I read my copy via BookFunnel.

What a compelling read! This short yet impactful story has sparked my curiosity. Book 1.5 from the Princes POV. The characters backstories and the plot's intricate layers were masterful weaving of past and present, that has me craving more.
I was easily Immersed in the mystical Kingdom of Aurelis, where the allure of the unknown and intrigue of the fae court came together in a rich tapestry, as the future of King Lodrihal's reign hangs in the balance.
Add an evil niece eyeing the throne, a prince comically sharing his POV and role in the drama with a woman stuck in a magical mess, prisoner, shackled with strong mage magic, whose life hangs in balance with death staining her hands.
The ending was abrupt and left you curious and curiouser…next book, stat, please!

This short story answered a couple of the burning questions I had from book one, namely around the FMCs missing memories and how she came to be Obligated to the fae.

Enticed is entirely from the Prince's POV, and I loved getting a bit more of a glimpse into his very complicated feelings.

This was a short read, less than 30 mins. Even though it was it was just a blip in the grand scheme of things, was enough to make me look into the complete books. Just more that will be added to me TBR list. It’s fine.

The prince wants something. He is using this girl he first encountered five years ago, the night his beloved, human mother died, to get something he wants. This girl has power that can bring down terrible beasts and the prince needs it.

I always love novellas/short stories told from another character's POV (especially when it's the male lead!)

There are some spoilers, though, so make sure you don't read until after you finish the first book.

This was a quick glance into the past - where we see the connection between Clara and The Prince.

We also got to see some of the opening of book 1 through The Prince's eyes. It was a glimpse into the other side of the opening events

I can't wait to read more of this series.

This was a nice short story that gives a lot of insight into the way that Castien treats Clara. We knew there was more to the story obviously, and while we still haven't been told all of it, I enjoyed seeing it from his point of view and getting his emotional outlook rather than hers.
Super quick insightful read.

I really enjoyed reading this from the Prince's point of view. It cleared up some confusion that I had after reading book 1.

Romance: CLEAN. No sex scenes in this novella. There is a sex scene later on in the series, though — book #4.
