Even broken crayons can produce such fantastic art in true colours.

Emma sought to start her life over. Getting over her abusive ex, working multiple jobs to make ends meet, and pouring her heart, soul and hurt out onto the page, she struggles daily to adjust to her new normal. That is until a chance encounter with a gorgeous RAF man makes her fantasies a sudden reality.

Never one for relationships, former bad boy Chris throws everything out the window the moment he meets Emma. Her curvy figure and shy nature break him open and make him crave her in ways he never has before. His admiration of her independence is quickly traded by his fierce protective streak when he learns of the abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex. Vowing he will do everything he can to keep her safe, he finds himself reaching out to dark connections that he once fought to leave behind.

When Emma’s ex becomes determined to make her his once more, Chris refuses to let go of the woman who now firmly has his heart. But as much as she wants to hold on to Chris, Emma struggles to understand how she could possibly be worthy of his love. Why would he choose to remain with a broken woman?

Unless he’s irreparably broken himself?

True Colours is the second of the #soulsongduology set in the #tangodownduet world.
Caution: This does contain scenes of physical abuse and assault which some may find unsettling.

We met Chris and Emma in Time after Time and you got a pretty good idea what Emma was going through and how Chris was her saving grace.

In this you get the whole tale from their POV and all the lovely emotions that slowly but surely grew between them.

Emma has been through it when it comes to domestic violence so of course she’s skittish around unknown men. Chris perfectly maneuvers her fears and helps her platonically move forward while still letting her know that he’s very much interested but at her pace.

It’s quite wonderful to meet a man like Chris so willing to show how much he cares while still giving her the freedom to grow. I loved that he made sure with every step forward that it’s what she wanted. Definitely a keeper, that one.

Omg when he gave her free rein to explore his body! By far the best steamy scene I’ve read by Louise. It was cute, sweet, funny and hot as hell.

This one was never boring, full of sweet affection, realistic growing love and so much drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

That ending was everything that I could’ve wanted for both of these amazing couples.

Soul Deep! Amazing! 😍

"She might think she’s broken, but so are crayons that can still make bright pictures." ~ True Colours by Louise Murchie.

I'm sitting here attempting to absorb the book has ended… Everyone has their Happily Ever After. I started writing my review only to discover blotches on the paper where ink and water don't really mix… (Bring tissues to this party!)

True Colours is Louise Murchie's second in her Soul Song Duology, and seventh overall. This one is the one that has made me think the most.

My attention is drawn to the raging storm outside rolling around the mountain side, flickers of lightning lighting the room before the clap of thunder overhead has me jumping out of my seat, and the rain starts pouring down… This is a pretty apt description of both the day outside and the turbulent emotions being provoked by this book.

Come and meet Emma and fall in love with the quiet caring girl who has had a difficult life. Here in her story we discover her strength and determination.

And Chris…a protector through and though…

Join their rollercoaster of a journey…

What are you waiting for?

💕 Happy Reading! 💕

I was so excited to read Chris and Emma's story. The glimpse into their romance from book one had so much suspense and drama that I was eager to read it in more depth from their perspectives. And this one did not disappoint. There was plenty of angst and emotion to go around with this lot. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

This is the second book in the, "Soul Song Duology" and revolves around the story of Emma and Stevenson. Emma, a girl with a troubled past and a psychotic ex-boyfriend embarks on a journey with an RAF military personnel, Christopher Stevenson, and finds herself in the midst of love, happiness and pure bliss. She finds herself through the love that Stevo showers on her and is ever so grateful to distinguish between right and wrong. She leans on her family members which include her dream boyfriend, her best friend, Rosie, Rosie's dad and Stevenson's best friend, Byron, who is also Rosie's boyfriend, and navigates through life, trying to leave behind the toxic life and emerge back as the peincess that she is.

The author wrote this book so beautifully, perfectly showing the inner emotions and turmoil of Emma. Louise has a very great understanding of the world and how things work, and her extensive knowledge can be found within this piece of beauty. I loved how she built up the emotions which were all justified. She perfectly portrayed a person who has gone through abuse, depression and acute anxiety, and how they are slowly ocercoming it. I loved how Stevenson was always there for her, always keeping her before himself, looking out for her, keeping her safe and secure. It was beautiful to see them and know that love exists, and that people actually do work for it, for the person that they love and want to care about.

The scenes at Byron's wedding were phenomenal. Stevo's feelings, his inner brain battle and him finally admitting to Emma about his feelings were so beautifully done that I don't think it could get any better. If you are looking for a broken girl trying to find herself, her identity, her footing, her voice, her power and her aura back through love and only love? This book is definitely for you. It has everything perfect within it, enough to make you know that you spent your time well to have had come across this book.

Author Louise, thank you for giving me the chance to read your phenomenal power through words, it honestly blows me away. And people??? Start with the first book in the series called, "Time After Time." That one is about Byron and Rosie, and you should read that to understand this book better becasue then, you relate to each and every scene so vividly and amazingly.

We met these characters in the first book, and it was lovely to see things from their perspective and learn more about their relationship. These two were instantly attracted to each other, and we get to watch as they overcome one hurdle after another to reach the happy ending they deserve. This isn't just a sweet, angsty romance; it has plenty of spice too.

For those who read Byron and Rosie's story, you'll remember the budding romance between their two best friends, Emma and Chris. True Colours gives us a glimpse behind the curtain, to see details that Time After Time only hinted at. Chris is a lovely man, a fun-loving, yet quiet hero in every sense. He is exactly what Emma needs after the garbage her ex put her through.

As always with Murchie's books, the challenges these characters face are very real and well-researched. There is nothing fake, nothing exaggerated or over the top. The trauma and horror Emma endures speak for themselves. And the love Chris has for Emma, while not being an "instant fix", gives her the strength she needs to heal.

The love scenes are delightfully steamy, and the relationships with their friends are rich with emotion. These are exactly the sorts of people you'd love to have as part of your daily life.
