After a year living in lavish boredom within Ivywood Castle, sarcastic and witty Moira Finglas is tired of her repetitive life. Summoned to court by her betrothed, Moira is trapped in an endless cycle of monotony. Moira survives on foul language and small adventures, primarily thanks to her brother, Amis, and her love of reading.

After a chance encounter at the Autumn Ball, Moira finds herself entangled with the honorable outlaw, Roman Loxley. Moira is forced to reevaluate everything she knows about Ivywood Castle and its ruler, Prince Lyric. New loyalties must be made and Moira has no choice but to step outside the comfortable world she knows.

The debut novel for N. Dominic, a twist on the legend of Robin Hood from the maiden’s perspective. This is the first time I have dipped my toes into action & adventure/fantasy and Blackwood grabbed my foot and pulled me under. If you, like me, are interested in trying out these genres in a format that does not feel overwhelming or foreign, this is the book for you. The world is realistic, with just a touch of fairy tale/fantasy elements. I didn’t read this so much as I consumed it as fast as I could. I am greedily awaiting book 2 of this captivating series. The paperback is well constructed with a soft, gorgeous cover. The font is easy to read and printed on quality paper.

This. Friggin. Book. What a masterpiece. The ending had me sobbing like a baby, the romance gave me butterflies, and everything is between was captivating. This book was marvelous even if it did break my heart. I don't have enough positive things to say about this story but I highly suggest it to anyone who loves a bit of fantasy/romance/medieval story telling or honestly if you enjoy reading you'll enjoy this. I love how the characters are constructed. I love the plot twists and every piece of the story keeps you guessing at each turn. 1000/10 recommend

I was captivated by this book! The characters are so relatable and the banter between characters is endearing. I enjoyed the combination of adventure, suspense, and romance. It’s truly hard to believe this is a debut author because the book is flawlessly written, is well-paced, and has a great rhythm. I can’t wait for the next book!

It’s hard to believe this was the writers debut novel because this book was truly exceptional! I slightly ignored my son for the better part of two days so I could finish before the weekend ended. The story has the perfect mix of adventure, romance, suspense, and heartache and left me wanting more. I laughed; I cried; I yelled out loud at the villains. If you haven’t read Blackwood yet, you’re missing out! I can’t wait for book two!

READ IT NOW! I flew through this book in just two days and immediately wanted to start it over again. Moira Finglass is sassy and has a foul mouth. She isn't your typical maid waiting to be wed. I loved everyone in this book and wish I could read it again for the first time.. now I'm impatiently awaiting book 2.

Getting Robin Hood from the females side was entertaining and empowering. She was no damsel in distress. It was a great read full of great banter and character development. Ready for book 2 in the series.

I really liked this book. I got robin hood retelling vibes from this book but with a twist. But honestly who doesn't love a Robin Hood retelling? This story has its lovable characters and court intrigue. Moira, the main character, starts to grow as a person once she moves to the castle to be closer to her fiancé and she realizes the things aren't as great for the lower classes as she thought. I didn't want the story to end! This is the author's debut book and I look forward to reading more of her work.
