You and I don't know each other. And, since trust is something that is generally built over time and a series of interactions, we don't have the luxury of a cultivated bond of trust. Throughout this book, I'm going to ask to borrow your trust; just for a little while, and just as much as you're willing to lend me. In the expanse of these pages, I'm sharing some of the wisdom I've absorbed from mentors and through life's circumstances, and I'm challenging you to ask yourself some of the same questions I've considered. I won't promise to have all the answers, but I can help you reflect and ask the right questions so you can discover the answers for yourself.
From borrowed trust to rented thoughts to eventually, a certainty that comes from within, Lifelong Learner: Reflections, Notes, Discoveries explores the pearls of learning Melissa has gleaned from the world. From The Discovery, walk alongside Melissa and journey to The Learning, The Growing, and finally to The Knowing. Lean into her storytelling and reflection to catch a vulnerable look at the hopeful humanity we're all courageously making our way through.
I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and since then have continued to go back and revisit it. Melissa shares that her idea behind writing Lifelong Learner was to pass on wisdom that was shared with her. In doing so, she adds her own beautiful insight, humor, and encouragement and draws you in from the very beginning. Her honesty and vulnerability pave the way for others to be honest and vulnerable, with themselves and with people in their circle. I found bits of myself in each of her stories!
Well I wrote it, so I’m probably a bit biased. But I hope you’ll love it! I wrote it as a love letter to my daughters, my friends, and maybe even to myself. I filled the pages with words I’d want you to know if I was having coffee with you and sharing about some things people have taught me throughout my life. Enjoy!
