First, Very few of these should be labeled as Viking. they are Scandinavian and most are the middle ages and on, Second, the style left me cold except for the Troll stories. I am not sure why. But there is one story that I REALLY LOVE. "The origin of Tiis Lake".
There were some tales I recognized, and I found some new favorites. The title may say "Viking Folk & Fairy Tales", however, Viking is specifically referring to Norsemen who served as part-time warriors. The stories found in the book are more aligned with the Nordic people, some of whom were Vikings.
I didn’t finish it because I lost interest but it is a decent book and I would still recommend it to people. It just wasn’t for me. I got about a third of the way through.
A great book for the winter holidays. Full of wonderful tales and stories. Learn the origin stories of the Golden goose and also Snow white. Viking stories and Giants and other creatures creep along the pages. Great to read to the kids or to yourself with hot cocoa or hot tea, your favorite chair and blanket. The dog and cat may listen if you read this magical book aloud.
