In the USAF H. L. Wegley served as an Intelligence Analyst, working closely with NSA and, after obtaining a degree in Meteorology, served as a Weather Officer. Upon leaving the military, he worked as a forecaster and a Research Scientist in Atmospheric Physics, where he published scientific articles, reports, and books. After earning an MS in Computer Science, he worked more than two decades developing large-scale computing systems for Boeing before retiring in the Seattle where he resides with his wife and where he writes. He is currently finishing his 12th manuscript.

Ryan Adams and Meiling Chen-Adams have just married and are called to a meeting with the President of the United States before they can get away on their honeymoon. Most of us never expect to hear from the President, much less the morning after our wedding. Suddenly, they are caught up in international intrigue and a life that is swirling so fast they feel they might get thrown off the ride. Dr. Chen-Adams needs to finish her research, but needs help from her former job where she is no longer welcome. In fact, they want to eliminate her before she can break through the darkness and complete what she has started. Can she find inside help? What will it take to secure that help? What are the risks in getting someone inside to provide the information she needs? And what are the risks to the world if she fails? One thing is certain: the President is supporting her one hundred percent, taking her seriously and willing to fight some powerful foes to help her get the job done. The window of opportunity to get the job done is extremely small, but her new husband and her team are willing to put it all on the line to accomplish what seems impossible. Even with a well-designed plan, many snap decisions must be made if they are going to come out victorious. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

The plot of The Darkness Beyond feels like it could be the headlines of tomorrow's news. The author H. L. Wegley had to have done a tremendous amount of research to write this medical thriller. Thankfully, Mr. Wegley also has the ability to make it easy reading for those of us unversed in the field of virology. The characters are likable. I love the fiercenesss that injustice provokes in Meiling! The deep faith displayed by the characters is inspiring. I would recommend this book to family. In fact, my mother is already half-way through the book. I was excited to see that the next book in the Against the Darkness series is out and is in KU. I'm looking forward to reading The Darkness Within.

Excellent Medical Thriller #2
In the second book of this medical thriller series, Meiling and Ryan Adams are married; it’s two months after the last book. They will honeymoon on Maui but before they go, the President wants to meet with them. The book is action packed, timing is tight, plane chases, their biowarfare team grows, but it’s the “getting there” that is exciting, adventurous and dangerous. One thing after another as they work against the darkness beyond. Their faith is strong and God works in their lives. Excellent book, well researched!

Eye opening
H.L. Wegley once again opened my eyes to the evil I don't see, and to be honest, I would rather not know exist. Yet as a Christian, I am called to be vigilant. All of the Wegley series point to the importance of being on guard and to do what we can to share the love of Christ as we do all we can to help others.

Comes right from today's headlines! WOW!! Because of the research this author did, I was well able to follow the science. Such an exciting book. Looking forward to the third book. Highly recommend this one!

Wow - this is such an exciting series. Dr Meiling Chen-Adams gets a call from the President - how will her and her husband Ryan answer the call.

H.L. WEGLEY is a awesome writer. Every Chapter is so exciting and real.I couldn't put this book down. The research this author did was great. Looking forward to his next book in this series.
