Missing some early issues and includes some issues that are simply recaps. This book is a very scattered collection of part stories that should slot in with the main GL story overall. Reading it stand alone, while I did enjoy a few of the arcs, they felt incomplete and overall the book is underwhelming.

Was a great time to be a green lantern fan!

Ok, first off, let's get one detail out of the way, the contents that are listed to be in this book, are wrong. Including the page count. It's supposed to be over 1600 pages, it's actually less than 1300. It says it's supposed to have issues 1-38 of the main series, when in fact, it skips issues 4-6, and yes, its noticable when you read the book that something is missing. The story just skips ahead. Issue 3 sets up the next issue, then all of a sudden you jump ahead and you miss some events that is mentioned throughout the series, but you have no idea what happened unless you google it. Now for a book that I am paying 195 dollars for? I dont care what there reasoning is, you put the issues in there. ESPECIALLY when the description says I am paying 195 dollars for 1600 pages, and it's less that 1300. I would have rated this book 5 stars, but those missing issues are a glaring issue, and it did effect my enjoyment of the book. So I took off a star. Ok. Complaining time is over.

All in all? This era of green lantern is awesome. Green lantern could do no wrong in those days. Geoff John's reinvented GL and turned it on its head and made a masterpiece, and tomasi and Gleason took what John's did, and made it even better with GLC. So if you already own the GL by johns omnis? This is a must buy. No question.

One last thing though. If you do own the GL omnis, there will be double drippings unfortunatly. The recharge mini series and the whole sinestro corps war crossover is in both omnis. So you will be double dipping approximately 16 issues. But it would have been wierd if they were left out of the book, so I get why they did it.

I was in the mood for some space cops sciencefiction, so here we are with The Green Lantern Corps. I have read Geoff Johns killer run, and now it was time for the Gleason Tomasi omnibus. I love this duo ! They did amazing with Batman & Robin, Superman and Super Sons. Gleason can draw, thats for sure, and i like Tomasi's no nonsens scripts that are mostly fast and fun. I had some problems with this omnibus,  although i did enjoy it aswell. The first half is drawn by Gleason but writen by various other writers,  i love the completion,  but its alot of different stories,  and i like my stuff coherent. This omnibus is action packed for sure, but its all over the place, really lots and lots of things going on, to much at times. I did enjoy my return with the Green Lantern Corps but hope the second omnibus is more of one story instead of many many short stories combined.

Trying to use Goodreads to keep track of my journey through the Green Lantern run has become total chaos. Technically I've logged half of the contents of this already, in a volume that doesn't contain those issues. This omnibus isn't even released yet. But as of now, I've caught up to where it ends - the culmination of the Emerald Eclipse arc, right before Blackest Night kicks off. I don't know what I'm going to do after I get through Blackest Night, because the rest of this GLC run only seems to be in TPBs. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

At this point it's hard for me to separate this from the mainline Johns GL run - they blend into one another so clearly it feels like they were made to go hand-in-hand. But I've totally fallen in love with all of these characters and still feel like I'm on a rollercoaster that's going up and waiting for the big drop. Tomasi, Gleason, and co. bring such a truly astounding sense of history to this. I love Sodam's lasting fury at his parents’ bigotry and cruelty and Soranik Natu's horrified indignation at learning her heritage. I love Ash and Saarek’s quests beyond the stars and Guy and Kyle trying to make lives for themselves on Oa. I lament the betrayal in the background and love the emotions on the page. This is absolutely excellent and I can't imagine reading GL without this, or vice-versa. I was so skeptical when I started this run, because it wasn't really clicking with me yet, but it's truly wonderful stuff.

This book has EVERYTHING you need when it comes to great comic book storytelling: the world building, the battles, the emotions, and most of all the character development. Not just Peter Tomasi but also Dave Gibbons, Keith Champagne, Geoff Johns, man these writers will make you fall in love with each of these characters. Their relationship with each other is AMAZING. Every character has their moment in this book and it’s great to see them grow.

I really miss this era of Lanterns. The stories in here even run in to what was collected in the Geoff Johns era of Green Lantern. You get really invested in this story so much to where if someone dies, you’ll FEEL the emotion behind it. The build up is so great and the story is full of so much substance. Even though there’s some issues I would’ve added in this Omni, it still has the main meat and potatoes you need. Such an amazing story throughout.

The contents page is incorrect: issues are listed out of order and some stories aren’t even listed there. Some of the issues included here provide further context for Green Lantern Omnibus vol. 1-2 by Geoff Johns, but there are a lot of doubling up of issues in here that are found in those omnibuses as well. The 2 stars I gave this are for the Green Lantern characters I grew to really care about (Soranik, BZZD, Iolande, etc.) Otherwise this was a rough one to get through.

This omnibus is truly a masterclass in both storytelling and visual artistry. From the very first page, it’s clear that both the writing and the illustrations are operating at the highest level. The narrative is rich and compelling, drawing the reader into a universe that feels as vast as it is vibrant. While the writing occasionally leans toward over-explanation, it never loses its grip on the reader. In fact, those moments often serve to deepen the lore and heighten the sense of immersion in this expansive world.

More than once, I found myself telling myself I would stop reading after just one more chapter—only to be pulled into another arc, another character’s journey, or another breathtaking planet. The pacing is relentless in the best way possible, and the storytelling consistently delivers both emotional weight and action-packed momentum.

The artwork is nothing short of stunning. Every panel bursts with color and detail, especially when showcasing the various worlds and the full spectrum of the Corps' light. The imaginative depictions of alien landscapes and the vibrant energy constructs were truly awe-inspiring, adding another layer of wonder to an already compelling narrative.

Overall, this omnibus is an exceptional experience from start to finish. It’s a must-read for longtime fans and newcomers alike. Whether you’re in it for the lore, the action, the visuals, or the emotional arcs—this book delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended.

An excellent companion piece to the main green lantern run more than a book that stands completely on its own, but there’s still more than enough here to call it a story. This is an excellent deepening of the mythos in 1000 different ways. The anthology-like format is a fantastic way to give glimpses into each lantern’s backstory without bogging the reader down. every character is written with consistency and the trappings provide great character moments like Guy‘s bar, Killawog’s Drill Sargent or Kyle‘s mural. Every corner of this universe seems to contain something interesting. Ion powers, Mogo the space police psychiatrist, star sapphire, black lanterns, Kryb (!), Mongul with like 10 yellow rings, etc, etc, etc. Over 1500 pages and I never got bored and at times I didn’t want to put it down. Must read if you liked the Geoff Johns GL run. 4.5/5

Ring slinging doesn't get any better I'm afraid.
Corps was the sister book to the main being written by John's, but Gibbons, Thomasi, and Gleason made this the best lantern book going.

While the main GL book dips in quality early on, Corps remains strong it's entire first half. Between Recharge, Black Ops, the Sinestro Corps War, new hosts, challenging other corps, and juggling several cast members, it is constantly entertaining.

In my re read I was very pleased to see how each plot built on the next, characters held to their ideals, and some of the best ring based fights take place. It was tense, it was exciting, it had me turning the pages. While the overall plot suffers in the next volume, this one reminds me of what Lantern book's peak can look like.

(Zero spoiler review)
I'll keep this short and sweet. All spectacle with little to no substance, which is exactly how I don't like my comic's to be. A hodge podge of half stories (many from the John's Gibbon's run which I also didn't like). The art is good to great throughout, but the writing never comes close to doing what I want it to. Pretty sure Green Lantern isn't ever going to be my thing. Not in this millennium, anyway. 2/5

+ Every issue is fun, engaging and interesting. Every Lantern has depth and well fleshed out

- Lots of double dipping with Geoff Johns’ GL omnibus until after Sinestro Wars
