Talking about myself in the third person is giving me fits - time to switch this up.

My day job is that of a computer jockey and all the hands on and hands off work that entails. When I leave the office behind I jump into family life (beautiful wife and two obnoxiously cute young children), finding a new way to hurt myself while powerlifting, and writing.

As of mid 2015 I haven't hit the 100 book mark yet, but I'm getting close! There's always at least in process. I just can't seem to stop myself...

Great except for a few parts

A few very disjointed sequences ruined this great book. I would still recommend it, just know there is a big set of flaws in the sequence of the story toward the end.

There are a lot of people who can tell a good story but few who can bring the characters to life. The crew of the Voidhawk are brought to life in the first book of the series and develop even more in this one. The reader follows along as each and every member is brought aboard and you very quickly begin to see who they are as individuals. This is the fourth Jason Halstead book that I have read and I am sure I will continue to read more, his ability to create a human character with abilities and flaws as well as hopes and dreams and then mix them in with other complicated individuals is nothing short of masterful.

Mr. Halsteads Voidhawk and Wanted series should be read by anyone who has ever wondered how much personality they should give to their characters. I am in awe that I have found no two denominational people in any of the four books of his that I have read.

As a sequel to Voidhawk, this volume takes the story to where our heroic crew end up getting involved in saving the elders, an ancient race of beings imprisoned in a sort of time slip, while continuing to be a thorn in the side of the evil elves and their pursuit of galactic dominion.

Well, that's the basic story but we also get some more insights into the characters of Dexter Silvercloud and his motley crew as they go about it. When I say motley I mean it too and there's even a few more added before the story is done.

All in all, it a good, solid read where fantasy meets science-fiction and a worthy follow up to Voidhawk so I'll be hunting down the next one fairly soon.

This story is a sequel to Voidawk. As the story has a very interesting plot and characters. I found that the writing style isn't really to my liking. There were parts of the story where I where I wished for my details and parts of the story where I disliked the focus of details. I found that the constant describing of how everyone looked after a battle was getting annoying, especially since the women always ended up in shredded clothes to almost naked. There were a few scenes that jumped about and the whole story just felt like one battle to the next. For most people this book may seem great, which it probably is. I may still try to read the next book and see if it gets any better or not.

This story is a solid sequal to Voidawk. It continues with the theme of magically powered wooden ships sailing between planets in a fantasy environment. The line between fantasy and sci-fi becomes even more blurred in this follow up, as the characters themselves become even more akin to their Serenity analogues. That may sound derisive, I promise it isn't. I really enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of both fantasy and the series Serenity, you should start with the original Voidhawk and then read this and it's sequal, Voidhawk: Redemption.
