Ghosts and murder follow her everywhere, even to paradise.
When Charlie Payne’s boyfriend Tom sweeps her off to a romantic getaway on a dreamy tropical island for ten days, she can’t wait to get away from work and hopefully the ghosts that plague her every day as a psychic detective.
Their fun getaway takes a dark turn when a wealthy financier dies mysteriously at their resort. All the evidence points to Tom, but Charlie refuses to stand idly by and watch as he’s accused of murder by the living, and condemned by the dead. With the aid of her witchy cousins and the resident ghosts on the tiny island, she sets out to prove his innocence.
Along the way, she uncovers a complex web of deceit and secrets that runs as deep as the ocean. With a police inspector ready to arrest her for obstruction, a pirate ghost out for her blood, and a storm on the horizon, the only thing she’s sure of is her feelings for Tom. But every discovery tests her love to its breaking point.
Survive a hurricane? Done it. Survive an attack by a pirate ghost? Easy peasy. Survive without the love of her life?
Wendy Wang is a talented, imaginative author whose books I have thoroughly enjoyed. This one is the story of a witch and her reaper boyfriend. During a family trip to the Caribbean, the couple becomes involved in a murder investigation. Not my favorite, but still a very worthwhile read.
Oh my gosh give me a break. Charlie I is looking at Tom all weird now because she discovered a few things about him by someone other than him. They’ve both been arguing more than normal on their vacation - even though I haven’t noticed any horrible fights yet - so she is feeling maybe she shouldn’t be with him.
So what is a girl to do? Go behind his back and have other people answer questions rather than confronting him to ask. What the heck does she expect? He’s been alive for 250 years! Of course he hasn’t told her everything! So stupid, Charlie. Ugh. She’s just scared of accepting his proposal, so she’s coming up with excuses to break up and pushing him away. She doesn’t deserve him. He’s much too good for her.
I’m not sure what happened to Charlie, but in this and the previous book she stopped believing in not only herself but Tom and her family. It’s like the wall she had previously let down was suddenly thrust up again. However, everything turned out good in the end.
Apparently, there is another book for this series! Book 15: Grave Connections “Charlie is back to work and has to find the spirit making calls to warn people of their death. There’s lots of ghostly encounters, and spells, and family time to keep you entertained.” I’m not sure when and if that book will be released to Kindle, but according to Wang’s note, the read is available for purchase through her website.

One of my favorite series just released the newest book, so I’m heading there. “Divine Future: A Divine Cozy Mystery Romance (Divine Mystery Series Book 12)” by Hope Callaghan.
Big change of scenery for this latest book in the series. Charlie and her boyfriend/reaper Tom along with Jen and Ben and Daphine and Darius all take a vacation to a tropical island.
What makes this even more interesting is Tom has quite the history with the island. So, throughout the book we get a lot of backstories on him. His human past has always been a bit of a mystery and now we finally get the scoop along with what he was doing in his early reaper years.
Things get interesting with pirate ghosts, century old witches curses, and the crabby island reaper.
A little slow to start but action and resolution had a good pace. These aren’t fine literature but are just fun. The whole family of witches thing makes me wish I had one too 🥺 and the magic is pretty realistic except for the wands lol.
I love this series! I’ve loved following along with Charlie as she navigates her life as well as her relationship with Tom. I loved the elements of this story that make it a Wendy Wang story—the mystery, the details, the characters. Wendy has such a way with her characters that they never feel flat and each has their own distinct voice. One of my favorite elements of this story was the focus on Charlie and Tom’s relationship. Charlie expressed some of her fears and realized she wasn’t being fair to Tom by allowing her fears to control how she acts in their relationship. Another fun read from Wendy!
As expected, Haunted Paradise is another hit in the Witches of Palmetto Point series. I was immediately immersed from the first chapter. I enjoyed the additional depth to Tom's character throughout this book. I tell myself that I will pace myself each time a new book comes out, but I have not been able to yet and I'm 14 books in. There were a few errors that I spotted, likely an autocorrect here or there, but the storyline is gripping, so no complaints. Haunted Paradise is another exceptional read.
This has to be my favorite book of this series! Tom is such a mystery, and it was cool to get a little more information about him, etc. I have read and re-read the series. It is always great to find a series that you can follow along with. I'm a patient reader and understand that authors need time to put a great story together. That is why there are more books out there to be explored! Time is the most precious resource we have. Your time will not be wasted on this series. I'll be patiently waiting for the next book to hit my kindle!
Haunted Paradise: Witches of Palmer to Point series. Book 14
This was another winner. I have read 14 of her books and love this series and this Author very much. Once I start reading her books I have a hard time putting them down. I highly recommend all her books and different series. She has such a good imagination and I love this cast of characters. The cousins are great and every book was great. Diana Romano
This is a fairly good series, although it does seem that the author is having trouble finding interesting story lines for the characters. In this book, I would rather have seen more interaction between Charly and the pirate ghost than 'shadow creatures' and treasure hunters. The story was just disjointed and all over the place.
Not the best of reads in the series in my opinion. Jen, Ben, Daphne, Darius, and Tom continued to be favorites, but here in this particular book - I found Charlie’s character lacking something. Yes, she’s the main character, but sometimes the main character can be too much. Tom’s former pal Harrison Hyde, a witch that Tom did not no was one, was a class act. A real jerk who set shadow people on others and had them do harm to others. Pete, the poor fellow who ended up dead due to Hyde’s selfishness, was very sad. Hyde, using a glamour of his face to make others think it was Hyde and not Pete, was dirty. I loved how it was concluded that Charlie tell Pete’s wife of his love for her. Sophia, Hyde’s girlfriend, was such a liar and knew what he was up to all along! Jean St. Clair, the ghost pirate, was amusing. Tom, who I liked, kind of rocked the boat in this book. He had some serious ‘splaining to do with Charlie. Kaya and her daughter, Aziza, were great background informational knowledge that I enjoyed reading about the island and their ancestor, Kukoma. The guy that was supposed to be helping to finance Hyde’s treasure seeking just got dropped.
Overall, series had ups and downs, goods and bars, but great side characters! I enjoyed them the most!
Would I recommend the whole series? No. Some of the books would work as stand alone books as they all reference a previous book with so much information so that the reader doesn’t really have to have read the previous books.
All four cousins are back in this strange tale of lost pirate's treasure, a week on a tropical island, and of course, death. Tom and Charlie's relationship has some challenges, as the weird dark energy of the island works on their bond. A cursed ruby holds the key, as Charlie has to figure out how to save her intended from a murder charge and a long-lost family heirloom finds its true home. I didn't love Charlie for a lot of this book, her doubts and worries grated on my nerves. It was as if she didn't remember any of her own history and allowed her fears and past to control her. But she snapped out of it just in time and even turns the tables on Tom and his surprise declaration. Curious to see where the next story, Grave Connections, will take the Palmetto Point Witches.
Favorite Line ~ "You don't make me a better man, but you do connect me to my humanity, which, as an immortal, isn't always easy."
Another good installment of the Palmetto Point series
I’m not sure if this book is shorter than most, but it sure felt like it. I read it easily in one sitting. But it could be I was just happy to have a decent book finally. I really enjoy this series and this book was no exception. Definitely not my favorite, and there didn’t seem to be a lot of story points, and a good bit of Tom’s history was started but not really finished. That was disappointing, but the bits we learned were nice. It felt like things wrapped up pretty quickly and without much fanfare. The change of scenery was interesting. Overall, an enjoyable read and it’s nice to get a dose of Charlie and Tom and the rest of the family.
I liked this latest installment of the Witches of Palmetto Point series a lot. In some ways it was emotionally uncomfortable as Charlie is dealing with her fear of commitment and past emotional baggage. She must come to grips with Tom's past, too. There is a lot of growth in their relationship that causes stress between them and it was a heartbreaker to read.
The book is action packed with several ghosts and a big mystery to lay to rest, and Wendy Wang spins a masterful story, as usual. I especially love the ghosts. She outdid herself this time with the motley crew hanging around this tropical paradise that was a stopping place for pirates in the olden days. I recommend this for any fans of ghost whisperers. Fun read!
I started reading this series after seeing an offer on Amazon. It was not my typical book choice but decided to take a chance. Well, I loved the books and quickly finished all 14 of them, reading them all at once! I loved the characters, loved the love story of Tom the reaper and Charlie the witch and became thoroughly involved with the entire witch family and their adventures. I am so glad I took a chance on this series. Reading them is so relaxing and very entertaining an I hope Wendy Wang continues to write many, many books in the Witches of Palette Point series. I am waiting!! 😄
There are several things happening in this book from Tom’s past to his present. And he has had an adventurous past. Charlie, along with friends and family, have to solve multiple mysteries at once with very little to go on. While I love this whole series and this book, I was a little surprised at some unanswered questions which remained at the end. Answers later?
This one really didn't do it for me. I found Charlie to be so whiny and judgmental that I almost stopped reading the book. Thankfully Evangeline said everything to her that I wanted to and she basically got her head on straight for the remainder of the book. No real surprises in the plot progression. Tom showed a side/history that actually made him a more interesting character. Overall, I could have skipped this one and been ok with it.
I,v read all these books in 7 days the story lines keep you enthralled all the way from book 1 to 14 the characters are amazing people who come to life each time you can't help but love them all from witches to reapers, non magical to some just starting out even an annoying ex-husband these books have everything it's the 1at time i,v read anything from this author but it certainly won't be the last.
I’ve read all of the books in this series, and I don’t remember ever seeing this many typos. It’s a shame because it really knocks you out out of the narrative.
The story line is good, but Charlie seems a much more difficult character than I remember her.
I hope for more books in the series, and I hope that there will be some better proofreading going forward.
I have been reading the "Witches of Palmetto Point" series for a while now. I can hardly believe I'm up to book 14 already. This is a pleasant series. The characters seem like old friends by now. They each have special powers in certain areas so the witches each have different talents to bring to bear. The mysteries are fairly simple. The circumstances are scary -- but not too scary. I think teens would especially like this series.
I like this series, they are fun & quick reads. This one is a bit repetitive of others & felt rushed. The characters annoyed me at times but I pushed through. If the author writes more, I'll most likely read it, I mean, I've gone this far, may as well continue the journey. But I may not seek the next one out, just whenever I come across it.
I couldn't wait for this next book! Charlie and Tom and family are like hanging out with old friends. Her books are so well written that when I'm reading I can visualize what's happening in my mind! Can't wait for the next one! And it was nice for Charlie to catch a break this book.
It could be because this was series book 14 and the story had gone for quite a bit but it just did not appeal to me as the others did. The characters remain interesting And we did learn a little bit more about Tom Sharon but it just did not hold my interest. But we each have different likes and dislikes and books so maybe this will be a the book you enjoy the most.
This storyline kept me glued to each and every page. I found it very hard to put this book down. Right from the first sentence to the last in the book I was enthralled. I'm so happy that Charlie and Tom worked everything out between them. This is a phenomenal series!! Can't wait for the next book to come out!
I enjoyed reading the adventures of Tom and Charlie. It started with how their island vacation started and the island vibe. Then there is Tom’s behavior with Charlie questioning it. There are a lot of characters who are rich in their backgrounds. I liked trying to figured it out. Great read. I would recommend.
I have read all 14 and feel like I have been hanging around for family Friday dinners with Charlie and the family for years now. I started this series because I love magic but I am also a sucker for a god mystery, so combine that and I am hooked. Thanks for a wild ride. K
Oh goddess, I read the first book of this series last week, and have since burned through all of them. Awesome writing, wonderful character depth, good mysteries. Now, there is nothing to do but want for the next book, and read everything else that this author has written. We'll done.
I fully expected this book to be big because it was the final one in the series. I kept wondering how it would all wrap up and without Lisa, Evan & Evangeline! But then, a new book was announced at the end so yay! (Not released yet) 😢 I enjoyed the island adventures from ghosts to pirates. Unfortunately Charlie brought her judgmental bad attitude with her from the last book and Tom took the brunt of it. This time some of it ally least made sense. No one likes being deceived, but when you have 200 years worth of stories it’s kinda hard to cover all the bases. Though he should have told her his history with the island prior to their travels. I like how Evangeline was still able to be the voice of reason but I’m surprised he stuck around.

All I can say is Wow! I Loved every single book in this series. I couldn’t put them down. I think I read them all in record time. I really liked getting to know Charlie’s whole family and battles each of them had to face. Also how they all came together to help each other out ..The Romance factor was also great ❤️
Lived the connection with family and that there's a happy ending. But, it could of been a little more in depth. More details. And I like when it's at home in Palmetto Pointe.
Tom takes Charlie and her cousins on an exotic vacation. As soon as they all arrive, Charlie feels something is off. She begins to doubt Tom. All of the twists, doubts, and a pirate’s cursed treasure make this one fantastic binge read.
