Good introduction to Julius Caesar
This is a good introduction as well as a balanced biography on one of the most cunning, conniving, ambitious political leaders in world history. His story is fascinating but also a cautionary tale. Despite his political and pragmatic mature, he was also a man who didn't forget his humble beginnings and hardships (such as with the pirates). He knew what people wanted and that made him dream big but like Icarus, he dared not to wait and measure the consequences of acting far too quickly. This ended costing him not only his ambitions but also his life. For better and for worse, Julius Caesar changed history.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Julius Caesar certainly rose well above his birth station with his ambitions. He was ruthless at times but so were others at this time. I wasn't aware of his writing and evolution of the Roman Empire that he inspired.
