"BE STRONG. BE strong. Be strong."
This is a really short novella, and in less than 30 pages, Melissa Foster managed to break my heart.

Courage is not the absence of fear but rather acting despite being afraid, and Sully embodies that.

This is the story of how Sully escapes the clutches of the cult she was handed over to as a child. As you can imagine, her life there wasn't easy—in fact, far from it. I honestly wanted to jump into the book, punch some people in the face, and burn it all to the ground.

Worse than that is knowing that these things actually happen IRL.

This is a prequel to Sully and Cowboy's book, For The Love Of Whiskey. And while it hurt, I'm happy I got to know her before she got to Redemption Ranch, before she met Cowboy Whiskey, and before her life turned around.
Because I know Melissa will make it better, and now I know her happily ever after will be worth everything. For her and for me.

I can't wait to read the full-length book!

So, this was a small snippet of a prequel, where we see our heroine that will be in the upcoming release and how she escapes a cult. So its short, around 50 pages or so, but it will helps you see the heroine's background and her vulnerabilities but also her strength and courage.

Freeing Sully by Melissa Foster was a quick prequel for For the Love of Whiskey. It was a quick twenty seven pages and explained her escape at twenty five from her life at a cult. It was not intended to be read alone but as a teaser and backstory to her full story in For the Love of Whiskey, which I can’t wait to dig into now!

Freedom

Freeing Sully gives a more in-depth look into Sully’s escape and her relationships with Ansel and Chester. I adore the extra touch of the banners for each section, it gave a nice touch mirroring the scenes.

This is just a short prequel of the next Whiskey book at Redemption Ranch. Sully is a young woman who was raised in a cult. This is her third time trying to escape. She has scars from being punished for the last two attempts. She knows that if she doesn’t succeed this time, she’ll probably be killed. But she does succeed and she begs a ride from a protective older truck driver.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.

Freeing Sullyby Melissa Foster is the prequel to For the Love of Whiskey. It provided readers with information on Sully's life prior to her arrival on Redemption Ranch. It describes in detail her escape from the cult compound. The compound where she lived since she was four years old. The story went into the details  of her escape and gave insight into the horrors she faced while living on the compound.

The story in this prequel introduces readers to a courageous heroine. One who despite her fear of the unknown chose freedom over being shackled for the rest of her life. She knows the harsh punishment she will receive if her plan to escape failed but she chose not to give up.

Despite the brevity of the tale, Foster delivered a story packed full of emotions designed to grab you by the throat, while keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

It's 2 damn short!! I figured it would b at least 50 pgs. There's not much of it 2 say anything about how is was, etc. The only thing I can say as I liked how people can b true and help others in need when they can.

Freeing Sully (The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch Book #1.5) (Love in Bloom Book #94) by Melissa Foster.
The Love in Bloom series proved to be a heartwarming journey through love, family, and personal growth. Spanning multiple interconnected series/stories, it offers a wonderful blend of romance, humor, and emotional depth that kept me reading the whole way through.
Ms. Foster crafted fully developed, relatable, and multidimensional characters who added an extra element of emotion and interest to my overall reading experience. The heroes are fiercely loyal and endearing, while the heroines are smart, empowered, and refreshingly ‘real’. Each character feels like someone you could know in real life, making their struggles and triumphs, high and lows, all the more impactful.
The stories have a perfect balance of steamy romance mixed with heartfelt moments. But that doesn’t mean that Ms. Foster shies away from exploring deeper themes like forgiveness, self-discovery, and the complexities of relationships – adding dynamic layers to the storyline/s. But, despite the emotional depth, the series still maintains more of a lighthearted charm, sprinkled with humor and tender family connections.
While each novel can be read as a standalone, there is an interconnectedness with the recurring characters and overlapping storylines - which help create a sense of community that feels warm and inviting. It’s like being welcomed into a big, loving family where everyone has a worthwhile story to tell.
‘Within the Love in Bloom big-family romance collection you'll find fiercely loyal heroes and smart, empowered women on their search for true love. They're flawed, funny, and easy to relate to. Characters from each series appear in future Love in Bloom books…’
If you are a fan of contemporary romance or simply looking for a feel-good series to escape into, this series is a worthwhile binge read…
Love in Bloom is made up of the following series:
- Snow Sisters
- The Bradens (Weston, CO)
- The Remingtons

I absolutely loved Freeing Sully by Melissa Foster; a novella in her The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch series that is a prequel to her For the Love of Whiskey. I love how Melissa wrote this prequel to describe Sully’s escape from the Free Rebellion, an anti-establishment cult. I loved learning the details of Sully’s escape from the cult. Melissa Foster continues to show that she is an amazing storyteller. I love that Melissa Foster continues to write the books that I love to read. It was impossible to put Freeing Sully down and I loved every moment on every page. Who does not love a strong female heroine? Freeing Sully is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments that I have come to love and expect in a Melissa Foster love story. Freeing Sully is the story Sullivan “Sully” Tate and her escape from the Free Rebellion cult in West Virginia. I love how Sully and her best friend; Ansel planned her escape and the risks that Sully took to escape. Knowing that she would be severely punished if she got caught trying to escape again. I loved everything that Ansel and his mother did for Sully in their final moments together, especially when Ansel gave her all the money that he had saved. Sully took a risk and flagged down a truck driver, Chester Finch, hoping he would at least get her to the next town and away from the wrath of Rebel Joe, especially knowing the reach of Rebel Joe’s power. Sully lied to the trucker and told him that she needed to go home because her mother was sick. She fell asleep in the truck and woke up in Kentucky. I love everything that Chester did for Sully to protect her and get her to safety. I love that Sully told Chester that she was not running away but running toward anything better. I thoroughly enjoyed Freeing Sully, and I am so looking forward to reading For the Love of Whiskey. Highly recommend this incredible prequel.

"She’d been battling her emotions for twenty-five years and had become a master at holding them in.
She’d had to in order to survive."
FREEING SULLY, Melissa Foster.

In this short prequel to the novel FOR THE LOVE OF WHISKEY, we embark Sullivan “Sully” Tate’s journey to escape from the cult that held her captive for as long as she can remember. In just a few pages, this story had me on the edge until I knew Sully is finally free. It felt like I was hiding right along with her and when I read this line “There were many times in Sullivan “Sully” Tate’s life when she wished someone else could be strong for her, and this was one of those times.” I felt that! Sully's story is heartbreaking and it is sad but it also invokes anger. So be prepared for that before you read this one.

Her story continues after her escape in For The Love of Whiskey, the second book of the Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch series which can be read as a standalone. So be sure to check it out!

This novella is a quick read but powerful and impactful at the same time. Sully knows it’s now or never for her to escape or it’ll never happen. Her goodbye to her friend Ansel had me in tears and it was only like page three of the story. Once she’s in the truck and going over her plan, you can feel the tension and once they’re at the store, it’s game on. We were with her the entire time from hiding in the bathroom to eventually hiding even more and then when they started calling her name on the intercom, I was like come on girl, you can do this. Personally, I believe fate had a lot to play with her escape, especially with her previously checking out the bathrooms and she totally lucked out by finding Chester at the rest stop. What a perfect set up for the upcoming book For the Love of Whiskey, counting the days to read the ‘rest of the story’. Chester’s line, ‘there ain’t no shame in runnin’, she definitely needed to hear that, what a courageous woman. Wonderful story.

Freeing Sully
Prequel to For the Love of Whiskey (The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch, Book 2)
By: Melissa Foster
Narrated by: Meg Sylvan

Melissa Foster certainly is starting Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch out with a bang! Sully is quite the girl. Given over to a man at the age of ten that abuses her and others to no end, Sully is looking for a way out. Her previous unsuccessful attempts have left her knowing this one could be the end if she is caught again, but will it be worth it if she can get free? Action packed, and completely engrossing, I could not stop this short introduction. I cannot wait to start the book!

Meg Sylvan is fantastic as Sully. Just enough attitude, fear and gumption, she gives Sully a personality that is you can't help but be empathetic towards. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in the book!

A fantastic prequel teaser - I need the rest of the story

I really enjoyed Sully’s escape from a cult prequel. This is a prequel to the For the Love of Whiskey. Sully has been trapped in the Free Rebellion for almost her entire life and she has the physical and emotional scars to prove it. She is determined to escape the abuse. Since this is a prequel to the full sized novel, we get a brief glimpse of Sully’s life in the cult, her personality, and her escape. Despite being short, the prequel was well written and included three dimensional characters and an engaging storyline. Now the hard part, waiting for the release of the healing part of Sully’s story. I am invested in her HEA now.

This a very short introduction to Sully, whose story is told in For the Love of Whiskey. This short story tells of how Sully escaped the cult. Per the author, she wrote this story in 2013 but didn’t find the right person for Sully to find her HEA with until almost 10 years later.

While this story is touching and intense and shows how brave and strong Sully is, it is not necessary to read it before reading her full-length book. But if you get the chance, it’s worth the short amount of time it will take.

FREEING SULLY is the prequel short story to Melissa Foster’s FOR THE LOVE OF WHISKEY focusing on Sullivan ‘Sully’ Tate, and Callahan ‘Cowboy’ Whiskey.

FREEING SULLY follows Sullivan Tate, as she struggles to escape the compound from which she has been trapped for close to fifteen years. Raised in the cult, Sullivan is desperate for freedom, and her escape comes with knowledge of leaving her only friend behind.

FREEING SULLY is a quick read; a short story; a teaser revealing some of the background and atrocities inflicted upon Sullivan ‘Sully’ Tate, and the man that controlled all of their lives.

This was a very short and quick read, but it was also incredibly powerful. This is a prequel to the next book, For the Love of Whiskey. Here we meet Sully as she's escaping a cult and learn where that part of her story starts. It would be best if you already have For the Love of Whiskey on hand because you're going to want to immediately dive into it. I'm doing exactly that while putting off something else I really should read first. LOL While this was shorter than I would have liked, I still loved it and was drawn into it from start to finish. Sully is definitely a brave young woman and I'm looking forward to the rest of the tale.

Perfekter Einstieg

4+ Stars ⭐⭐⭐🌟 FREEING SULLY is a very short prequel to Sully and Cowboy’s story, “For the Love of Whiskey.” If you’ve read “Then Came Love,” you know who Sully is and a bit of her beginning story. This fills in a few of the details of what happened leading up to right before Sully comes to Redemption Ranch. We get a pretty clear picture of Sully’s grit and some of what she endured before she ran. It’s quick but it’s powerful and compelling enough to make me anxious to read the rest of her story.
