Athena Perrakis is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sage Goddess, the world’s largest source of sacred tools and metaphysical education. Each week, Sage Goddess reaches almost two million people across the globe, on every continent and in more than 60 countries. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in educational leadership, and has 15 years of experience as a professor, corporate trainer and consultant, and educator. Athena has traveled the globe and worked with CEOs and senior executives from the Fortune 50 companies. But her metaphysical experience, in which her current work is largely rooted, spans more than 30 years. During that time, she has become an expert in gemology, astrology, Tarot, aromatherapy, Reiki, and herbal medicine. Her Etsy shop was the first online metaphysical storefront to reach the Top 10 stores in the handmade category around the world. Today, there are more than 3000 products available through SageGoddess.com – everything from essential oils and ritual perfumes to candles, jewelry, gemstones in every form, home decor, clothing, body art and temporary tattoos, canvas art, and more.

Athena’s work with Sage Goddess centers on the concept of a truly holistic spiritual practice, one in which every person who discovers her work can truly find themselves. She believes that all paths lead us Home, to our Source Creator, and she teaches that all creation myths and stories are ‘true’ insofar as they are echoes of ancient narratives. Athena herself descends from a lineage of Mediterranean and Native American healers. This union of sacred cultures and practices, fused with her training in mythology and western civilization, is the basis for her teachings, which explore the intersections of legends and traditions to find collective common threads. She embodies the Divine Feminine mysteries, giving tangible form to the ethereal realm of goddesses and medicine women. Through her writing, online courses, and material offerings, Athena helps others cultivate and maintain sacred space in their lives for peace, healing, and abundance.

Her guiding philosophy is that those who develop and maintain a consistent and sustainable spiritual practice – one that aligns with their own cultural values and spiritual beliefs – will enjoy a longer, healthier, and happier life. To that end, her mantra “Held to a higher standard, bathed in a different light” reminds people that they are accountable for their thoughts, actions, and interactions. Those who believe and stay both faithful and authentic will experience a different peace; from there, all things are possible and unfold effortlessly in perfect time.

Ok, I didn't read this "crystalpedia" from cover to cover, but its a great resource. The entries are detailed, with some basic scientific and historical background, and plenty of healing, spiritual, and energetic associations. Lovely, large, detailed pictures. Alphabetically arranged. Easy to use and a great resource that I will definitely use.

Crystals are fascinating and there’s just so much to learn. I was glad to find this—it tells scientific and spiritual properties of each one. And the photographs are beautiful. I’m gonna need this one for my house. I love a gorgeous reference tool.

For all the excitement for this book I was disappointed. For about a year Sage Goddess, Dr. Athena Perrakis has been boosting this book. I will use it as a resource, not my first resource. I have other books that are more detailed and provided better insight into crystals, crystal history, and wisdom. This is more to use crystals for healing than the wisdom and history of the crystals as described on the cover.

Some of the crystals have a decent history. There are other crystals books with better history's of crystals.

The biggest disappointment is that the back of the book states "Dr Athena Perrakis dove deep into the crystal literature....." this book has no bibliography. In the introduction she boosts that she searched high and low to find a comprehensive book on crystals and does not give acknowledgement to where she searched. I find that teachers who share who they learned from whether it is in person, or from books hold more creditability. As a reader and someone who desires to learn, it seems as though Dr. Athena Perrakis is more interested in getting attention for herself, building her own community, and increasing her income (again you can find information in several places on where to purchase crystals from her).

The of crystals are great. The information on the crystals such as moss hardness, Chakra, origin and astrological correspondences seem accurate compared to the other sources that I have.

The section of what the crystal partners well with is informative.

Some crystals are lacking full information such as Preseli Bluestone how it is known as spotted dolerite and non spotted dolerite. The differences are not even discussed.

I would still like to know the resources as I have an abundance of crystal books with more information.

If you are new to crystals this would be a good beginning resource guide. More advance Crystal learning you can use Nicholas Pearson, Judy Hall, or Ashley Leavy.

You can't include the word "history" in a book and have less than a sentence per rock type; there's hardly any info about the provenances of the rocks, which is what I was hoping for.

Also, the picture used for amber is clearly a picture of man-made/altered amber, not the real stuff, which is super questionable.

This is a wonderful informative book however they seem to be most of your typical crystals leaving a lot out. I think a couple other books to follow up on your not so typical stones would be great because this book really is an attribute

I am a big fan of Rocks, especially the shiny kind. So when I got this book, it was mostly because I wanted to look at the pictures of all the shiny rocks, though I did learn a thing or two about said shiny rocks as I was reading it.

This book is beautiful, informative, and a calming read. It doesn't lay on the science or mystic language too thickly, using just enough of it to get the idea through while letting the rocks themselves shine throughout the book.

The pictures were great, and they did inspire me to get more shiny rocks for my collection.
