Britney Mills was born in Utah but parts of her heart lie in Boston, Washington D.C. and Germany. Her love of writing began with the third grade book her teacher assigned her to write and she spent hours hidden behind her mother’s couch writing pages and pages about knights and castles.
Most of her time consists of taking care of her young son and triplets but writing keeps her sane as she travels along on the adventures of characters to come.
When she’s not mothering, writing or reading, she’s probably out playing a sport, going on a hike, or binge watching some kind of murder mystery show. She is a fan of chick flicks and adventure/action stories in books and movies, and can even get her cowboy husband to watch along with her.

Too bad I’ve hoped our next meeting would go differently. My mental dreams of the reunion would be her running into my arms and kissing me soundly, as well as punching me in the jaw for leaving without a word. But six years is a long time and she’s grown up.

“Life has challenges and running away won’t solve them.”

I open the cap of the superglue and tilt Justin’s head back a few inches so I can get a better look at the wound. “Okay, you can drop the tissue. But hold still. I don’t want to be gluing your lips together or anything.”
“That’s a good thing. Because then I wouldn’t be able to kiss you.” His voice is so low and soft, and I’m second-guessing if I heard him right.

“You think we’re dating?”
Again, she whips her head around to glare at me. “Well, are we?”
“Yeah, I’ll tell anyone who’ll listen that you’re my girlfriend.”
Katie’s eyes soften and her smile nearly reaches her ears. “Good answer.”

Rating novellas are hard. I liked this one, but I wish that there were more Christmas scenes. And I would have liked to see a scene where Justin and Katie told Katie’s brother, Alex about their relationship.

The Mistletoe Clause is a fun story about second chance love. Katie fell for Justin, her brother's friend, when they were teens. But he left for a baseball career without saying goodbye, leaving her with a broken heart. Now six years later they are back in their hometown. Can Justin be trusted not to break Katie's heart again, especially since he doesn't know what to do with his life? I enjoyed the story and how things worked out.

The Mistletoe Clause

By: Britney M Mills

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Such a beautiful short Christmas story.

Two childhood sweethearts find love again for the second time after having a breakup they could never understand why.

What a beautiful time to do that during Thanksgiving and Christmas when Kate's brothers invite his best friend Justin.

They are both shocked to see each other, but so happy at the same time, that there sparks for each other slowly comes back.

Kate's Mistletoe Clause list is left exposed and Justin sees it and tries to make some of the wises come true.

Justin has a terrible sports injury and doesn't know where his life will take next, so Justin invents this new software to help out his family business. One that takes off quickly with a collage friends help.

Everything rushes too quickly Justin rushes to France for the software launch and Katie has no idea and is worried that Justin has left her, untill she gets a message and rushes to France to surprise Justin she is there.

Katie finally gets one of her wishes from her mistletoe clause and gets married in December.

Such a beautiful story of second chances at love.

I cannot believe I finished this.

What a terrible story. I like Hallmark movies. I like romance books. I like fluffy books. But they have to be well written. They have to make sense. And it's best if they're not not just trope laden pieces of garbage.

We have she's not like other girls. He's not like other guys. Other girls are just after the fame and money she's not like that. It's so gross.

There's no depth to anybody; there's no depth to the events. Nothing.

In the age of texting he goes all the way to Paris without notifying her even though that's a sore point between them. He couldn't have texted from the taxi? And then they're married. Oh and of course everyone's white and cis-het. Just utter trash.

This was a great book! I loved the main characters. I got invested even if it was a short story. They both were lost and came home to basically start over. At the exact same time which is probably fate. They fall for each other again and she’s terrified he’s going to leave her again with no word. Which he does but it’s a horrible misunderstanding. Which he clears up & makes up to her. I love a good second chance love story especially a Christmas romance! Highly recommend!

Nice story & fun characters. The romantic relationship in this novella moves a little fast in order to go along with Katie’s final Mistletoe condition, but there are lots of guys and funny, relatable clumsiness! I think it could have even been fun as an expanded story about the Mistletoe Clause list.

And go mind your own business, Betty Sue…!

Katie and Justin are a beautiful, hilarious couple! And the c'roches....I'd be done, too!!! Their romance is wonderful to read!!

A little more editing is needed.

Cute novella about young love and broken hearts. Of course, 6 years later, love gets a second chance. I read it in one sitting! 🪑

Nice, simple, romantic storyline, but I think it just needs more depth and intriguing interaction between the two main characters.

Katie and Justin are so cute together. This is a second chance Christmas romance. This book has misunderstandings, romance and grand gestures. It is the perfect read for the busy holiday season.

Katie and Justin grew up living down the street from each other. In high school, their relationship lasted only 12 hours. Justin ghosted her to go play baseball.

They are both forced to go home six years later. The attraction is still strong and they get a second chance at love.

This was a cute Christmas novella. I received a copy from Britney M Mills in exchange for an honest review.
