I enjoyed reading 'ADHD Solution Deck Decluttering'. There were many reassuring words about why those of us with ADHD may find it harder than many to achieve any act of decluttering and the hints and tips were helpful. I have yet to try them out and avoided decluttering today by reading the book instead. Ha! I'm hoping that it was time well spent. I think that the '10 second rule' for deciding whether to let go of an item will really help me.
I also see that Lily Beacham has sensitively organised the book in such a way that information is offered in short, manageable pieces and then repeated in an even shorter format. I found myself irritated with that, but I also acknowledge that it probably did help the suggestions sink in in a way that they might not have done otherwise. It feels that it's necessary to just trust the process and launch on decluttering to see how well the book has worked. I may report back!
Repetitive. So, so repetitive. This might be good for a teen trying to learn how to manage things but when you've been living with ADHD for almost 40yrs, there's a good chance you already do some/all of the things in this book so you won't learn anything new.
As someone who HATES schedules or routine, this book just made me more anxious as it basically was insisting that a schedule was absolutely necessary. The same things were repeated in different places as well as in the recaps. I won't bother reading any more of Ms Beacham's work.
I've been keeping house for over 30 years. With my ADHD it's always been a struggle to keep focus. Especially, when it comes to decluttering! I highly recommend this book. It is a quick read and has simple but effective ideas.
It actually worked from the very first chapters. I ended up finally being able to clean out my closet and get a few other projects done, without feeling overwhelmed by everything.
I suspect I may have ADHD and I certainly have a clutter problem. This book is filled with good ideas for decluttering. Nothing too new, but we'll organized and practical.
I loved the way Lily Beacham wrote and formatted this book! It made it such an easy and helpful read. I work on a college campus as a Mental Health Counselor, and we were able to take some of the concepts and turn them into an outreach program for our students, especially students who are neurodivergent!
