We all have good days and bad days at work. Some days you feel bullet-proof. People listen to you, your meetings run like clockwork, and you keep having new ideas. Other days are like wading through quicksand. You can’t get anything done, and when the printer jams (again) you want to quit. Wouldn’t it be great if every day went your way? If you jumped out of bed every morning ready for anything? You can stand out, break the rules, and making things happen. You can be a bit more ‘Elvis.’ You can love every minute. The only limitation is your energy, your belief, your perspective.
Described by The Guardian as a long-haired, twinkly eyed cross between Richard Branson and a wizard, Chris Baréz-Brown’s natural ability to uncover everyone’s inner genius helps people to get their energy right every day, so they can achieve more through their own talents and be extraordinary, all whilst driving bottom line results.
Fascinated by what makes people tick, he challenges convention to help embed a more human and energetic culture at the heart of any business; so that work and life become a fun and fruitful ride.
I picked this up because of the tactile feel of the cover - I bought it because I like the simple, fresh approach I saw when I flipped through it. I didn't hurt that Seth Godin's back cover blurb says, "This book doesn't read, it buzzes." And I am definitely up for that.
Every part of this book is very good. What makes it a "5" for me is that when it is exceptional - and it often is - it is so exceptional that it made me stop reading, look up, and immediately think about the implications of what the author had just said.
The cover blurbs are true. This is a book that buzzes, and very often buzzes very loud. I am already trying out things the author recommended - and it is fun!
I don't feel like I got anything from reading this book at all. Or if I did actually get anything, it was very little. This book simply talks about things we already know about how to succeed, but maybe have forgotten. Nothing is really new. Or maybe this is because I'm not in the target group, as I'm not an executive or a businesswoman or something.
This book was mostly lame, the author seemed very egotistical and a lot of the content was fluff. I mainly took away the message of remember to simplify and you will shine more with less junk taking up your mind. Skip this book.
Sexy it is. Kiosaki like concept - the guy is telling the stuff you already know, but he puts it really sexy, in a way that you actualy want to remember the sentences. Easy and positive, loved it.
I like how most business books talk about experience and not theoretically. It is an amazing insight that one encounters and share in this book. I feel I have a grasp on my life with all the punchy lines that inspires and motivates me. I like how the book highlights the lines with red colour and bold fonts. Definitely a great book for me!
it is a short book, I like some chapters and there are some chapters useless but over all you will earn some techniques you can use it in your office to be a star.
Easy to read. Good for people who have just started their new job or haven’t got a clear career path. A good reminder to yourself when you lose your passion in work and to stay focused when you get distracted in your life goal.
Quick read with some good mantras. Liked the illustrations and manifesto style though I'm not sure I learned anything new - still, a nice book to have on the shelf when feeling stuck and needing some inspiration.
I read this book throughout the week...when I wait for my students to finish their writing ... at the beginning I found the choppy narrative distracting and grating, however after a few pages I started to enjoy the book. it is like having a conversation with somebody who understands you and has gone through the same things as you. interesting read
Why did I purchase this book? Perhaps because it is another lightweight business book that promises immediate relief from the stresses of work. This is like the martini at the airport lounge: it will temporarily calm you on your journey but it is no long-term fix.
This flashy book is full of two things: inconvenient truths and actionable ideas. Not that it is easy to just "shine" - but heck, chances are that your work life gets more enjoyable and maybe even successful, so some effort on the side of the reader is justifiable.
Quick read. Important notes on vampires - type of people who will almost always get caught up in bad situations and sort of addicted to whining, yes; ditch them.
