C. G. Jung: Livsreisen

Rate this book
Rikt illustrert.

Simple and short introduction to Jung's ideas. It alternates between brief biographical sections describing Jung's life and simple explanatory sections describing Jungian concepts. It reads like an extended pamphlet and has pretty good summaries, bullet points and even exercises to aid you in understanding Jung.

It's nowhere near as thorough as other introductions, but it does its job well and is more inviting than other books on the topic, with lots of large pictures and non-intimidating words. It also has more practical applications of Jung's ideas than usual for this type of introduction. Some read like self-help, but I suppose that can happen with psychology.

If you want to read this book, I recommend you find a physical edition. The digital version I found was of poor quality and hard to make out.

A great biography on Jung that investigates both his life and his ideas in a very easy-to-read way, together with illustrations and surrounding information. It is a bit strange sometimes that the author has a sub-chapter without even mentioning Jung, even if it is based on his ideas - but it adds to the whole in how we look at Jung's theories today in a simplified manner.

I have read some Jung, and I have read about him and his theories from other authors, so it was nice to read this one in order to get a whole view on his life and work. It is a good way of building a structure around the person and his ideas.
