3.5 stars. This is very offensive for so many reasons. Incest, rape, tons of violence and murdering, naughty language, and even some crazed hillbillies. I may have just spoiled about 80% of the book. And this will definitely not be to everyone's taste. But, hey folks, that's what splatterpunk is all about. The story starts right off as we are tossed into Paul's mind. And it had me laughing within a few sentences. He doesn't care about anyone or anything and just wants to inflict as much pain on the world as possible. His psychopathic tendencies are laughable with how extreme they get, and his internal monologue is a lot of fun. So we follow him through his homelife to his adventures with Franny and Mary-Anne, to his own individual conclusion to his strange story. There is a lot to enjoy here, if you're open to splatterpunk, however if not, this won't be enjoyable at all. I would have rated it higher, but I was hoping to get some more story and less spectacle. But that just may be my personal preference. Otherwise, the writing itself overshined the content throughout, and I am curious to see more from Stuart Bray.

Stuart Bray's Violence On The Meek is a good, brutal and gruesome story.
Paul, the main character has no empathy, he can only feel rage. He likes to swear, he mostly expresses himself by saying "fuck" this or "fuck" that. He hates everyone and wants to kill as many people as possible.
I think, I've read so many books with deranged characters worse than Paul, that I am desensitized.
Don't get me wrong, he did horrible and unimaginable things to anyone who crossed his path, no one is untouchable in his eyes, but I wasn't impressed by his little tantrums. Nonetheless, I read this book in one sitting.
I recommend it, if you want to read about deviant behaviors, brutal and wanton murders by a psychopath.

Well, that was grim. Raw rage and every kind of violence from page one to eternity. No one and nothing is spared from destruction, and hate emanates from the pages. Are you ready for this? Was I ready for this? Yeah, I knew what I was getting into. It was overkill. But I still followed that rattly old truck to the end of the line. I'm off to visit June.

What I Liked:
1. It promised it was going to be gory - it did not lie
2. Quick read

What I Didn't Like:
1. Some errors with the book left some parts confusing
2. Timeline of characters is confusing
3. Paul is annoying not scary just annoying

Overall Thoughts:
This book is gross. I can't fault it for that though as it promised it would be messed up.

I had some issues with the whole idea of the book though. It's 1979 and they just let Paul do whatever he wants. The parents have one conflict with him and just instantly back down. I found this very odd for this time period as the parents would have just really had to call the police and had their child taken away. Also it just seems like certain parts escalated so quickly that it seemed absurd:
I looked up at the woman who once made me breakfast every morning, the woman who rocked me to sleep when I woke up screaming in the dark. “What are you going to do for me? It is going to be tough not to smother your little bastard in its crib late at night. What are you going to do to keep my attention?”
so she just has sex with him. Like why would that be where your mind just goes as a parent? Plus the kid is 12 years old... He's like 5 foot and 105lbs and for the life of me why would these adults be scared of him?

Paul bashes in the neighbors teeth and nothing ever comes from that.

No offense to the author but reading this book about the parents not calling the police and child protection ACTUALLY taking the children away from the parent I just knew he didn't grow up in that time. I remember when I was a child that one dude would beat his kids in the yard and the police did nothing to help them. One dude let his kids 10 & 8 just run around outside naked. Houses were full on filthy and no one cared. Back then no one cared. If it was your wife or children no one did anything and they were your property.

There are just too many errors in this book. Paul's mother attacks him by slapping him and her nails digging into his cheek but that was months ago. Children service's show up and the caseworker comments on his swollen lip and big scratch mark. Paul then says "She slapped me the other day." So was it only days or months?

Also it's not true that a dead corpse can ejaculate. It's just like a little bit of leakage from the prostate so it's not really sperms. In most cases it's usually urine, mucus, or prostatic fluid. Angel lust can happen though after a traumatic death.

I’m confused about the ages of Paul and Mary Ann. When Paul's parents die and his mother is arrested he is almost 13 and his sister is a baby (only a few weeks only) but when they are living with Hope Mary Ann is 9 but Paul is only a senior in high school so possibly 18. That doesn’t make sense - he’d be like 21 years old.

I hated Paul. He just reminded me so much of one of those people that has it all but just hates everything for the sake of hating things. He just tries so hard to be anti-cool and anti-establishment all the while he’s breathing the same air as every worthless person alive and taking just as much resources as everyone else. I eye rolled every time he talked about humans being worthless and wiping humans from earth. I think I could have agreed with him more if I had any idea who he is as a character, but we just start off knowing that he raped his mom and hates people. By the end I just wanted him to die so I could stop listening to his whiny rants.

Viagra wasn’t even invented until 1989 and wasn’t FDA approved until 1996.

The way that Paul is written is so weird to me. On one hand he hates everyone and proceeds to go on this killing spree - murdering almost 40 people to then 10 years later laying low and scared to draw attention. On that note I would have loved more story on how Paul avoided being arrested and settled down with everyone. How they managed to stay in the farm house and electricity and things not get shut off

How can you pull teeth out by hand? (Not me trying to grip my teeth with my hands.)

The maid bleeding out so much it would squirt couldn’t happen. Once the heart stops it can’t pump blood to the arteries and blood starts to travel with gravity down the body.

Mary Ann being able to survive a shotgun shot to the gut, not bleeding out, pellets piercing her organs, and breaking her neck. Oh being like this for weeks with no water and no food and a hungry pig in the room that will eat anything but you know yeah it makes total sense she’s alive.

Finding out that Paul was adopted makes even less sense that the parents would keep him. They had no emotional ties to him.

Omg seriously that’s how the author ended it? The cop who is his dad let’s this guy go because he has nothing else left to do?…. Why? He spent 10 years looking for him and having no leads and now he sets him free! So stupid. And then Donna killing herself because her daughter died after she just said she’s come to terms with her already being gone is confusing. And how did Donna get twenty years in a mental institution for neglecting her kids???

Final Thoughts:
See, I think certain extreme horror isn’t for me. I just have this thought that if certain horror is branded in everyday realistic things then it should be realistic horrors. That’s the whole point of what makes these books scary is that this stuff can and is happening to people otherwise you’d just read a slasher. A lot of the problems I had with this author is that it felt like lazy writing to get a book out there and move onto the next one. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t know but there were not only grammatical errors but also continuity issues.

So much of this book paints Paul like slasher killer from a movie. He gets shot and doesn’t die. He kills people over and over and nothing comes from it. His cop dad faces no consequences for letting him out. Speaking of the author skips over these parts where gets out situations. It’s just one moment he’s shooting up a location and the next he’s far away from it. How did the cop get him out of jail?

This book doesn’t get a low rating because of how edgy and gory it is but because so little makes sense, the tons of errors, the out of line time frame, Paul’s endless whining, and the dumbest ending I’ve ever read. It feels like the last 10 pages are Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer.

Also also if he hates people so much why is he writing an biography for people to read? Why would he even care if anyone read it or wanted it?

This book was BRUTAL, and I loved every second of it!! I thought I'd experienced the most vile and sadistic main characters already, but Paul tops them all. His hate and disgust for all human beings, including himself, fuels his murderous rampage through life. The relationship he forms with masochist Franny is equally disturbing and intriguing, her lust for the depraved bonding them together. This book gave me Devil's Rejects and Natural Born Killers vibes and I absolutely loved it! And be aware, you will find every trigger known to man in this book, so sensitive souls should stay far, far away! 5/5 skulls 💀

There's just so much hate in this book. In every page, in every sentence, in every chapter. This book would make you say a silent prayer after reading.

B-R-U-T-A-L.

I would never understand how a human being could be so evil. To be showered by love, attention and comfort only to turn out to be the evil incarnate. Sometimes, evildoers aren't made, they are born.

Paul and Franny has a special place in hell and I hope they suffer every second of their miserable lives.

But, I liked this book. This is the kind of Splatterpunk that I would definitely keep in my bookshelf.

Read at your own risk. There is violence in this book that would shock you to your core.

It's like Hogg by Delany and Snuff by Eric Enck had a baby. All the triggers you could hope for maybe even more. Been a while since I read a good Psycho POV Splatterpunk, it really deserves the attention it gets. If this book was on the Scoville scale it would be a ghost Pepper 👌 enter at your own risk.

I saw the author wrote a book about snuff, I know what I'm reading soon 🏃 to amazon.

Disturbing, disgusting, visceral, and depraved. 💀 The ages of Paul and Mary-Ann didn't make sense within the timeline of the story and there were some noticeable spelling errors but if you're in the mood for extreme horror it doesn't get any more extreme than this.

Wow ! Have you read Hogg by Samuel Delaney? If so then you will understand that it’s impossible or so I thought to be more vile than Hogg. It’s been 18 years and today I met Paul. Paul, is the most depraved, vile character I’ve ever encountered. To say he’s a sociopath is an understatement. Paul hates everyone and everything . At the young age of 12 he decides to really take action . This book is really short and fast paced. I should have been through it in one sitting but my face hurt from gagging and making wtf faces. I highly recommend this to my fellow dark/depraved readers ONLY!

The prologue pretty much Tell me enter at my own risk.

Straight from the beginning you clearly see that this character is unhinged. He killed the kittens and a dog. He literally tell his parents he's going to kill them in their sleep and the parents just take it? I would have packed him up a long time or put some poison in his food and get rid of him long time.

The father is a weak person. I want to say so much about this father but he died so early in the book.

Halfway  in the book it had a found family element which was so messed up. There is a female character that I understand why she's psychotic. She give you a glimpse of her childhood being sexual abuse by many men  at five year old and for some reason I understand why she is the way she is more than MMC. Kind of wish the mommy died a horrible death. Anyway the characters in his books are so nasty. They do the worst nasty thing I could think of.

It is fast paced and the timeline is moving very quickly and so far I'm not traumatized, I'm really scared of the ending. I hated the storyline the sister got. I understand that this book is full of shock value horror and brutal murders but for some reason I wanted a happy ending for the sister.

The way the author wrote the epilogue made me feel stupid. To be honest I'm not sure I'll read the rest of the book in the series.

There are several things that I really NEED to do now I've finished reading this absolutely awesome brilliant disgusting gory death ridden book.....

1) Take tranquilisers 4 times a day for about a month!!!💊

2) Take a holiday somewhere far far away from any extreme horror book!!!🏖️🩴

3) Read something "NORMAL"!!! 📖

But...Funny enough I'm not going to do any one of them...Coz I loved this book So Fucking Much!!
I don't want tranquilisers, I don't want a holiday away from extreme horror books,I don't want to read a normal book.

I'm not going to say a lot more about this book...you really need to read it for yourself...BUT...it is bad, full of stomach churning violence and psycho people!
Enjoy With Caution!!⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

CRAZY

This book was crazy and filled with gore galore. If you’re looking for a horror book THIS IS NOT IT. This is one of the most extreme books I’ve read so far. It also had a decent story attached to it which I liked as well. Definitely stay away from this book if you have a weak stomach. If not ENJOY.

This is one of the more truly fucked up and well written extreme horrors I’ve read in a while. This is also a case of listen to the trigger warnings if you are easily triggered and don’t read this book. If you’re like me however, and love a good incredibly deranged read then pick this up. I also realized half way through that this is a series, so I’ll definitely be reading those.

The main character here is incredibly unloveable and horrible. One of the most morally bankrupt characters I’ve read and I love a MC that I can’t stand. I found this to be exciting, disturbing and fast-paced. It was well put together with interesting side characters and development. I want to know more about him and what made him so fucked up beyond recognition. I definitely need to check out more by Bray.

HOLY FUCK THIS BOOK WAS INTENSELY FUCKED UP!! 🖤😲🖤

What better way to start a book than with a really angry, intense, messed up prologue! It certainly got my attention and curiosity piqued!

Paul hates the world and everyone in it, including himself!! This story is his final words….one last fuck you before its all over!

It all started in the summer of 1979, Paul was 12, when he discovered a taste for the more macabre and violent side of life….and just how much he loved it! He loves how everyone fears him, he thrives on it, especially his parents, although, strangely, that kind of brings him and his Mother a lot closer….

He hates that his Mum is pregnant with another child, but in time he comes to love his little sister Mary-Ann, she is the only person he really seems to care anything for.

And does he finally meet a kindred spirit in Franny, a girl from school? What kind of life could they possibly have together?

10 years later and things are about to get a lot worse for Paul, you would think that impossible after everything that's happened so far, but you'd be so very wrong…

Paul is evil incarnate, with an unrelenting, unforgiving, no fucks given attitude! He's on some sort of insane, crazy, carnage filled kamikaze mission and he doesn't care who he takes down in the process! He is a vile, vile character!

This is a very extreme story, not for the faint hearted at all, or even if you are newer to the extreme horror genre..beware! A brutal, no holds barred tale of evil manipulation, torture, extreme animal deaths, rape and one mans will to self destruct! It's shocking, disturbing, debauched, depraved, sick, savage, sadistic, twisted and evil!! Its all kinds of fucked up, and I mean ALL KINDS, but….I….could….not….put….it….down! The story flowed really well and you even got to know the characters enough to feel something for them, mostly hate, anger and fear, but also, maybe, just a teeny tiny bit of like….

With a great twist at the end too, Stuart Bray is definitely going to be one to watch! I want to read everything by him! 🖤

3.5 Stars. This was my first time reading anything by Stuart Bray and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a nice gruesome little read. I felt like the story fell flat a bit at some parts. I also didn’t really like the character development, it could have been better. However, it really picked up at the end and I liked the little plot twists with the main character. Not my favorite - but still good!
