I admit, I REALLY enjoyed the first two books of this series. But this one was nowhere near close to what I thought. I felt like nothing actually happened and the characters were all very selfish in this book, except maybe two side characters.

I have never really been a huge huge fan of Tiernan. But I felt like he was more unbearable during this book. The only thing I like about him is Maeve and with her away, he is a shell of light and positivity. And instead he was rough, rude and quite frankly unappealing in many ways. For his sake, I hope we have a swift reunion for these two. Otherwise I fear I will not enjoy much of the last book in the saga.

He whined absolutely too much and his journey to find the Will o Wasp was not needed and not at all interesting. The entirety of his scenes should have only been a few short chapters and that was all. Instead, I have come to dislike him even more than I already did.

Maeve seemed a bit narcissistic and immature for the entirety of her stay in the Ether. She acted like all of the consequences she received were unfair, and personally I think she never once got treated poorly and got exactly what she deserved for her behavior. We knew from the very beginning that all she had to do was ask to go home, and yet she was too busy being upset that she wasn’t treated well enough pretty much the entire time. And when she didn’t get her way, she basically threw a temper tantrum.

Normally I love her strength and confidence. And I loved watching her come out of her shell the first two books. But whatever happened to make her think she is solely a queen and deserves absolutely nothing less, even when her actions and words are less than stellar, was making this book entirely too hard to read for me. She’s had many moments that have upset her in her life and I honestly would love to see her be more humble and mature in the future, rather than see her act like this in another book. And was she supposed to have been losing her memories the entire time she was there? Because I felt like that was a plot device that could have been VERY good but instead was executed in basically one chapter and not at all effective.

The spicy scenes in this book were totally unnecessary and made me cringe the few times they “appeared”. I’m all for self pleasure, don’t get me wrong. But the way it worked out in this book those several times was not appealing to me and I would have rather done without.

And don’t get me started on Rowan’s character. I have a whole lot to say about his actions versus how Maeve treated him. And instead I’ll just say that everything about him was done a disservice and I think it was because the author knew how much we liked him the first book and wanted to show us that simply he is not important, but brought him back simply because of our love for him. Instead, he looks like stupid and rude and self serving, when in reality that was not anywhere close to who/what he was in the first book once you really got to know him.

It’s safe to say that in my opinion this book was a filler book that was mostly unnecessary and I am no longer all that interested in seeing how the story officially ends. Will I read the final installment? Probably. Most because I felt like I put in too much work at this point to not give it a shot.

“I would rather die a thousand deaths than live a life without you.”

✨️ Book 3 of series
✨️ Dual timeline
✨️ Multiple POVs
✨️ To be continued cliffhanger

Great continuation of the story. I love the dual timeline part of the book and their character growth as individuals! Although, I found myself wanting to read Maeve’s side more than Tiernan's.

I would definitely recommend this series to others! ✨️

Thank you to the author for an eARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion and thoughts.

I don’t have words. Like I just don’t. Hillary had quite literally taken them with this book…like I just I can’t…

This book, this series, this world has a hold on me that I don’t ever think will let go. I am so Inlove with this book so completely in love with it and I can’t wait for the next one.

This book gave me angst, it gave me pain, it gave me laughs, tears, everything. And I loved every second of it. Did I like where it ended? No. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s an amazing book. And I wouldn’t change anything about it.
Maeve: she is so strong so powerful and so incredibly amazing. She is a strong female lead that everyone needs to read about. I love her loyalty, her drive to fight, her will to be better.
Teirnan: oh boy is this man loyal like to everyone, his court, his family, everyone. He is a sweetheart. This man deserves the world he deserves it all. Been through so much, and still going through it.

These words are literally just jumbled at this point because words can’t even come close to how I’m feeling about this book. I recommend this series this book this author in a heart beat. Go read it. I’m serious

3.5 ⭐

Out of the three books this is my least favourite.
I like that we got Tiernan's pov in this one, even though he sounded a bit annoying on a couple of occasions but I still like it in general.
Maeve, darling what happened to the badass we all knew?
I have mixed feelings about Rowan...There were times where I felt bad for him but he also annoyed me.

Also Ceridwen and Merrick 👀 I NEED to know what's up with those two

I was lucky to receive an arc of this. And I am soooo glad I did. This book was amazing!  This picks up right where book 2 left off with Maeve in tne Ether. I really liked getting to know more about Aed. Hopefully, we will still learn more about him in the next book. It was nice getting to know the other characters more throughout it and, of course, meeting new characters. And finding out who the Nightweaver is.

I loved getting a Teirnan pov! And I really liked watching them figure things out and realizing they couldn't rely on just Maeve to save them. And even though I hated that Maeve and Teirnan were apart, it was nice getting to know them more individually and seeing them on their own journey. Emotionly, I was all over the place! This book sucked me right in! I finished it in 24 hours. As usual, the world building and descriptions were amazing!

There were new characters, danger, action, turmoil, and heartbreak. And of course, I loved the spice! I can wait for book 4!

Where are the words to describe this book? I am left speechless and in awe of Hillary's beautiful work of fiction.

This is the third volume in the Faeven Saga, and I have yet again been left brokenhearted and hanging from a cliff whilst I wait with bated breath for the fourth and final volume. Each time Hillary blessed me with a heartwarming chapter and a good thing happening, I continued to let my guard down only to be jumpscared by the misery and grief waiting to curbstomp my heart around the next corner.

This book hurt me in the VERY BEST WAY. I will forever sing the praises of Hillary Raymer, and I will forever recommend Faeven to those who like spicy fae romance and adventure, complete with morally grey characters and sassy, badass heroines.

Maeve finds herself trapped in the Ether after a deal with the God of Death turned out to be more than they'd bargained for...and how is she supposed to get back to Faeven, to Tiernan, to her found family and her friends? How could she possibly help defend her home against the impending war with the former High Queen of Spring from all the way in the Ether?

Let's also mention the return of someone no one expected, a new sassy woman for Maeve to butt heads with, and the ever charming God of Death, and you've got yourself a recipe for....what exactly? Disaster, yes. Hijinks, also yes. PAIN AND HEART BREAKING TRAUMA? OF COURSE.

I am beside myself knowing that I have to wait until MARCH to read the final volume of the Faeven Saga, but I consider myself blessed to not only have loved this series so far, but to know the author and consider her my friend. It's one thing to read a book...it's another to know the mind that conjured the very words on the page. Hillary is one of the sweetest souls I've ever met, and I consider it a tremendous honor to be able to know her. If you haven't set forth on your journey through Faeven...I can assure you, it does not disappoint.

“Trials are a way of life. They either break us or embolden us. But only you can choose whether to rise or fall.”

I would first like to say thank you to Hillary for sending me an ARC. Secondly, oh my goodness. RON picks ups with Maeve in the Ether, a new realm that we were only briefly introduced to at the end of book 2. The world building is wonderful and storytelling keeps you on the edge of your seat. Realm of Nightmares provides answers to current questions we have, raises new questions, follows fan favorite characters (we get Teirnan’s POV as well), and introduces some new faces. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Hillary Raymer book without some spice. I devoured RON in about two days it is just so so good. I can’t wait for it to release and for other people to be able to read it.

Not anywhere near as good as the first two.

Not terrible just was expecting way more.

Nothing really happened in this book.

There is not cliffhanger don’t believe the hype.

No smut of any kind except for one sex scene that is a hallucination caused by something meueve drank that makes her basically have a wet dream about her and tiernan. ❌🌶️0 zero

It felt like a filler book that could have been shorter. It’s one of those books that the author is just trying to unnecessarily extend the story into a little book that is not needed and is purely for $

The events in this book could have been condensed into a few short chapters and put into the beginning pages of the next book. An example of this in a quote is below:

“Maeve popped the piece of biscuit into her mouth, keeping her expression neutral as the buttered, flaky biscuit and creamy chocolate left her damn near orgasmic. She chewed slowly, enjoying the delicious breakfast” JUST SAY SHE ATE BREAKFAST. The whole book was unnecessary filler. The only thing that happened was tiernan whined about her being gone and their bond shrinking, he went to find a Will o wisp who told him nothing, Rowan says I love you but didn’t really or he wouldn’t have messed with the laurel girl, meuve loses her memories slowly, and she goes visit the wild hunt for a book that’s already in the library. How stupid I’m sorry.

Rowan and the god dude flirt with meuve and Rowan says he loves her but is getting the laurel girl off?? Supposedly her and Rowan were once soul mates. The wild hunt people were boring. It wasn’t scary hunters like I was expecting, it was more like knocking on your grandmas door and she invited you in for tea. Maeuve loses her memory and forgets tiernan but the whole time she is “stuck” in the ether she could have just left the whole time just by asking.

The CONSTANT POV switches from meuve and tiernan was extremely irritating. Not that I hate different point of views but the second something interesting happened it would switch. I get doing that a few times but it happened. Every. Single. Time. For. Every. Scene. You do this great build up and cut it off and go to a different pov.

Man I am seriously hoping the next book will be amazing because there is a war coming and meuve finally went back home at the end. Still feel like there is some Rowan scenes still coming? Because it seemed like he was able to leave the ether if he wanted and the vision showed him and meueve above tiernan dead body? So excited for that..

I am so confused what happened with this book. The only reason I gave three stars is because how entranced the first two had me. I’m serious. I gave them 5 stars each and told like five of my friends about how amazing they were. Now I’m just sad because I thought this book would have me in a book slump and mad that the next one is so far away but this one was so bland I’m not that upset to be honest. 😴😒🫤

This is probably more like a 3.5 rounded up, only because it felt like a filler book.

While I liked seeing a different realm (the Ether), Maeve and Tiernan spent most of the book separated which is a pet peeve of mine personally. While it was still entertaining, it seemed like everything Maeve and Tiernan did was not moving the plot along. And while I love Rowan and the fact that he is still alive, the almost-love-triangle resurfaced with his reappearance, and I’m just not a huge love triangle fan either 😅. That’s just my taste though.

Speaking of Rowan, Im not a fan of how different he was in this book. Idk how to explain it but his witty, cinnamon roll personality was gone and he was kind of dark and broody. I’m normally a fan of that if that’s how they are from the start but l
I liked the way he was in book 1 🥲 I also needed more backstory on him being the Nightweaver. ALSO - what was with him and Laurel? That scene in the library while Maeve was looking for the book, was that to make her jealous? Idk what was going on with that but the underlying plot with the relationships was so messy and left me confused (and not any less confused at the end of book 4).

🗣️ “She was the epitome of resilience, of fortitude, of power. She’d been beaten, broken, destroyed. Yet each time she rose stronger, her brilliance far greater than that of the coming dawn. She would not be made to cower. To fear. She bowed before no one. She answered to no one. I am the breath of life and I show mercy to no one.”

I had the honor of beta reading this book and I just can’t get over how beautiful Hillary’s writing is. The descriptions of everything from the locations to the feelings to the looks of everyone we meet, it’s all stunning. The story picks up right where we left off from book 2 and I can’t wait for the book to release so everyone can read it! So many feelings, can’t wait to share. :)

Okay, so it’s taken me some time to get my thoughts together after reading this, but first as always I want to thank Hillary so much for letting me continue to ARC read for her, as it has been an amazing experience and I am so in love with the characters and world she has built.

“And remember, courage of the heart is often more reliable than clarity of the mind.”

Okay so diving back into Faeven and getting to continue with Maeve on her journey has been amazing and I love to see how far she has come and the relations she has made. Hillary truly broke my heart though as Maeve has been separated by everyone she loves and everything she knows, except Rowan is back and we get deeper into his character which was so beautifully heart breaking. (Thanks for making me cry, Hillary 🥺) We get more in depth of The Night Weaver and Dawn Bringer and their story in itself is one I truly adored (Novella in the future? Pleaseee)
I loved the dual POVs between Maeve and Teirnan happening simultaneously throughout the book as they are Realms away from one another. Again the world building and character developments, not only in Rowan, but all characters has made me fall even more in love with this series and Hillary’s writing. We meet new characters and see that we will get more in our future as well (Hello Shadow Daddy Drake)

And In true fashion Hillary leaves us off on a Cliffhanger as the upcoming battle prepares to roar it’s head. More heart break to come.

*Potential Spoilers*

Wow wow wow. The Faeven Saga is a wonderful series so far. I was super excited to see how Maeve’s journey in the Ether was going to end, and it was very surprising. I think the only reason that I’m giving this book 4 stars is because I loved how Tiernan and Maeve were together but they were separated for the entire book, and now we have no idea what’s gonna happen next. I just miss their little banters. However the story is very intriguing and I am definitely excited for the series.

3,5⭐

Thank you to Tantor Audio for entrusting me with a gifted copy!

Realm of Nightmares by Hillary Raymer
The Faeven Saga book 3

Narration by Aletha George
Aletha continues to do a wonderful job at bringing these characters to life! I really enjoy her voice and she brings all the emotion to keep me sucked into the story!

Dual POV, stabby FMC, monsters, found family, fated mates, betrayal, hidden identity, so many secrets, touch her and find out, cursed kingdom, fae courts, meddling golds, tragic background, mental health rep, banter, high stakes, cliffhanger!

Book three sees our party split as we get dual storylines with what is going on with each. I will admit I liked the first two books more, but still rounded this up from a 3.5 vs rounding down because I was invested in seeing what happened! Looking forward to the finale next book!

“I would rather die a thousand deaths than live a life without you.”

Well Hillary has yet again ripped my heart into a thousand tiny pieces. This was an absolutely phenomenal continuation of Maeve’s story. There was so much here to love. New adventure, new grief and a story that is now barreling towards the final book that is definitely going to stress me all the way out.

I love Hillary and can’t wait until the next time she steals my breath and crushes my heat.

I was graciously given an e-ARC for this book and can I just say.. WOW. I'm so addicted and so invested in the Faeven Saga and Realm of Nightmares did not disappoint. It did, however, rip out my soul, spit on it, and hand it back to me. Still, I loved this book so much despite the fact that it broke my heart at every turn as Maeve and Tiernan struggle to get back to one another. And just when you think they've made it.. Hillary strikes again.

Overall, the world buidling continues in Realm of Nightmares as we delve farther into the realms. Additionally, the multiple POVs continue to develop character arcs and has me routing for so many favorites. The side character stories along with the main story line is creating a deep and intricate fantasy and I can't wait to see where it takes us.

P.S. I will forever be team Tiernan, but Rowan stole a whole new piece of my heart in this book.. again.. just wow.

Believe when I tell you this series has me in a chokehold! This 3rd book of The Faeven Saga is full of angst. We get to see Tiernan and Maeve maneuvering adversity separately, which is something new for their relationship.

We also get some bombshells and a blast from the past, but I'm going to keep this review spoiler free. As much as we all probably wanted a Tiernan and Maeve reunion in the first chapter, this angst was necessary for Maeve to figure out herself. We all know that together they are a force, and we already know what Tiernan can do on his own. Maeve has to find herself and figure out her strength and power on her own.

The next book is going to be amazing!!!

This book is beyond words!

The 3rd book in The Faeven Sage was just amazing. The journey Mauve goes through in the book is so compelling and heartbreaking at times. This book was so good I read it in one sitting, I just could not put it down. This is another MUST READ from Hillary Raymer!

First of all WOW! I loved this installment of the Faeven Saga! Second, I want to thank Hillary for not only writing another great book, but for allowing me to be an ARC reader.

I wasn't sure what to expect for this third book after the way Throne of Dreams (book 2) ended. I had some theories and waited months to find out if any of them were right. This book followed both Maeve and Teirnan's POV in their time apart, so we got to see what was happening in Ether and in Faeven, instead of being left wondering what Teirnan was up to.

I loved seeing more character deveolpment from our favorite side/supporting characters, as well as seeing some old friends pop in. I'm very curious to see how relationships will develop further in the next book!

Crown of Roses gutted me. Throne of Dreams helped heal me and then gutted me again. Realm of Nightmares took me on an adventure, bouncing between "oh no!" and "tell me more" and breaking my heart, but also getting me wondering about where we are headed in book 4.

✨ Realm of Nightmares ✨

~ Multiple POV
~ Angsty
~ Emotional

✨ My Thoughts ✨
This book was everything. The angst and emotional rollercoaster of this book was perfect. Honestly everyone in this book went through so much. Maeve continues to show strength and growth. Seeing her also learn more about herself was emotionally beautiful to read. To see Tiernan with a little more vulnerability was great. My hurt just for both of them the entire time. While this book had a lot of angst it did have some comic relief moments though. I enjoyed being back in this world so so much. I truly loved seeing all these characters back together. I enjoyed some of the new revelations that we learned throughout this book. The ending has me screaming!!! I cannot wait for the next book to come out. Hillary did such an amazing job.

Realm of Nightmares is book 3 in the Faeven Saga by Hillary Raymer. It is recommended for 18+. As always check TW before reading. This book series is just a must read. This book is out on September 26th, 2023.

✨ A huge thank you Hillary for ARC of this book. (digitally and physically) These are my own true thoughts. ✨

4.5/5

Excellent installment in the Faeven saga. He picks up exactly where the second book left off and takes you on a journey as both Tiernan and Maeve attempt to figure out their place without each other.

The characters are are on point. I’m not sure how I kinda felt about the return of a certain character, but it does add for some interesting tension, but also very intrigued about the side, plot line between two characters that I that I’m hoping might be fated for each other. I would love to see that explored more in the next book.

Overall, I think the book does a really good job of exploring the power of self-reliance of knowing your own worth, and of knowing the choice is extremely important in all things that you do.

I’m excited to see where the series goes next, especially with the cliffhanger that Hillary left us with. I’m gonna need to know soon that everything is all right because I feel like she keeps putting us on the cliff over and over again (bad Hillary).

Hillary knows exactly how to tear my heart out and stomp on it by this point - albeit in the very best way!

Once again I'm honored to be part of her ARC reading team and I'm obsessed with this series!

We pick up exactly where book two left off, with Maeve in the realm of the Ether with some new faces and a familiar one too! Tiernan is recovering back in Faeven and trying to come up with ways to deal with Parisa's forces. The stakes are much higher and the strain on his and Maeve's bond is being pushed to its limits.

I hate spoiling books for people so all I can do is urge you to read this as soon as it releases! You won't be disappointed and its only 6 months till the next book!

Book three had me in such a terrible state of emotions the entire book. This one will be spoiler-y, it's just not possible to not have the spoilers in my review. 🤷‍♀️

In this one Maeve and Terienen are separated from one another and trying to get back to each other and the trials they go through just ripped me in half. I knew it was going to be Rowan at the end of the last book and that he was connected to Maeve but, fuck my heart. Maeve kinda pissed me off with how she treated him, like I get she moved on to her fated mate and thought he was dead but, she loved Rowan. He had died for her and loved her and she's mad he still has feelings for her? Girl, what? He died protecting you and was saved by the God of Death - why would he be over you? And then finding out their connection to each other and she was just so mean over it and couldn't understand why he'd push her away and didn't want her badgering him so she'd spew harsh things at him. Tiernen did the same thing and she forgave him and fell for him before he even apologized. Rowan is struggling knowing the truth of their bond and that he lost her..again. She just irriated me so much this book. I love Rowan so much and he deserves so much. I hate Maeve just tosses him and his feelings aside.

Anyways, I did enjoy seeing both Tier and Maeve go through their own journeys while apart. After having read the Starstorn series first - it's exciting to now read through this and see thongs that are mentioned in that series. The first verdis lepatis appearing here and causing Faeven grief, mention of the witches and hag creating it, and we get some mentions of Draven and Aeramere! So cool to hear about them and know we get to visit their world later.

I'm dying to know how this ends and how our group is going to win the war and protect Faeven. I love each of these characters so much and their found family. 🥺💜

First, I want to thank Hillary for allowing me to be part of her ARC team. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to see how everything ends. Second, I’d like to apologize for the late review. I could have sworn I’d already posted a review, but it was nowhere to be found…

Now, I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been so sick the last 2+ months and maybe my mental health isn’t super great, but I found this book really sad, or I guess I should say this book made me really sad. We knew going into this that Maeve was going to be separated from Tiernan, that’s not what made me sad. What made me sad is the backstory we got on the Nightweaver & the Dawnbreaker and what it meant/means for current characters. While that’s not the main storyline, that’s the storyline that stuck with me the most and really had that almost gut-punch effect on me.

This book is told from multiple POVs and definitely has everyone on their own quests and journeys, unlike books one and two. We do meet new characters, some more likable than others, some more important than others.

While I definitely would have preferred some things to play out differently, I can understand why Hillary wrote this book the way she did. Maeve still had/has growing to do on her own and she learned quite a few important things in this book. I’m being vague so I don’t spoil anything for you guys. All in all, it was a good book. I’m really looking forward to the final book in the series though.

So first I'm going to do a general review and then get a teeny more in depth while possibly being a lil' spoilery????

Firstly, I really enjoy this series. I'm glad I picked it up. While I think the pace of this book is a little slower than the last, I also feel like it is necessary to see these characters and storyline develop without making the storyline feel rushed.

Now secondly, and this is where things might get a little spoilery so proceed with caution:

I love Maeve so much. And I can't wait to see what kind of hell she unleashes after where this book leaves off.

So, I've enjoyed the escapism of the first two books, but this one wasn't my favorite. I rated it 3 stars because it's not the author's writing or the story itself; rather it's a preference of mine that the FMC and MMC not be apart for so long. I understood it for the storyline, but it's just not my favorite. I also didn't love the twist with Rowan, but that's because I liked him better than Tiernan. T is... ok, I guess. He's like a poorly (at first) behaved Cap America to Rowan's spicy Iron Man. And I'm an Iron Man girl all the way. So, to bring him back and add the love triangle back in was irritating and heartbreaking at the same time. The triangle had been resolved with his death earlier, and I could (sorta) live with that because she could move on more easily without having to "choose." And now...? I still like Rowan, despite being told all the reasons why he's not right for her.
I'm also confused by how he seems to remember their initial incarnation. And why they need to keep reincarnating. Is she destined to keep losing her mate and loved ones to be the Dawnwhatsit over and over? And why does she get a sirra and Rowan doesn't?
Reading book 4 to hopefully get these questions answered.
