Alessa Thorn believes that all monsters and villains deserve their happy endings. She prefers her clothes black, eyeliner winged and books full of hot romance. Sensational

I’d read the first two books in this series separately last year, and for whatever reason felt like I wouldn’t be interested in books 2 and 3. Well, after reading Persephone and bingeing the Gods of the Duat series, aka falling even more madly in love with Alessa’s work, I went back and got this omnibus. Needless to say, I was so, so wrong. I am utterly gone for this entire cast of characters, and Altun/Julian and Leo/Dante’s books were right on par with Kon/Athens and Silas/Iz. This world was incredible, and I’m so glad I circled back around to finish the series out.

I LOVED this series, it is an interconnected series where each book follows a different couple while furthering the overall plotline of an ongoing story. This is firmly contemporary paranormal romance with morally gray characters, found family, and a magical and dark mystery unraveled throughout the series. The fourth book is a M/M romance and it was amazing. I loved all the characters in this series and especially the locations that the author took the characters to, plus, throw in some ancient magical artifacts and I’m hooked! This is considered an adult dark romance due to graphic scenes, violence, and of course, the smut.

Decent story, fairly entertaining. Erotic? Meh.

The foundational story has real merit. The heavy application of "erotic" passages, were crude, common, and repetitive. I can enjoy a well crafted love scene or heavy erotica, but this was crass rather than titillating.

The underlying story is well worth the effort to fast forward through the parts that annoyed me. Perhaps the next reader will be more interested in the whole experience.

I loved this series!

It has all of our favorite elements we've come to expect from Alessa - fast paced, cool magic, found family and steamy scenes. With the bonus of queer love on page!

However, there is something different about this world, and I am here for it. The characters are gritty in a way that makes them feel so real and relatable. In a way that makes me believe we really could call them up to hunt magical artifacts together.

AND this series has the bonus of queer love on the page! A main character, who has his own book - not just a chapter.

Definitely worth the read.
