Earth has two months of food left, and 17-year-old Eliza believes she can solve the problem.
The soil on Earth has been dead for years, so when Eliza proposes to grow a garden in the ruins of a war-torn city, nobody takes her seriously.

Instead, those in charge demand the crisis be fixed by sending soldiers like her to a resource-rich planet. The mission is steal as much food as possible. Eliminating the planet’s so-called merciless inhabitants is not only expected but encouraged.

Having no choice but to obey, Eliza reluctantly goes. However, in an incident that leaves her isolated on the lush but dangerous planet, she makes a deal with the enemy to save both his world and hers.

Now left fighting for both sides, she runs the risk of being branded a traitor by her people and killed for her crimes.
While Eliza struggles to keep her secret hidden, feelings of familiarity with the strange alien world surface.

A part of her yearns to stay there, while another part whispers that she’s been there before.

A great dystopian YA! Loved the world building of the two planets with their unique politics and issues. Eliza's growth as a character as she finds her way in life was really enjoyable to read.

Displaced takes place in vivid settings and focuses on a protagonist I found easy to root for.
