A blazing connection between single dads from opposite sides of the tracks is fraught with secrets and lies, and a happily ever after is impossible, unless they take a chance on love.
Saved a long time ago by a man who saw a diamond in the rough, Logan is a single dad and the owner of Redcars Automotive, a haven for those in need. With custody of his daughter under scrutiny, his life is upended when a journalist looking for a story slips into his life without him realizing. Logan doesn’t want Gray more than once, but when sharing the secrets of his past won’t get the journalist to leave, what else can he do?
After blaming himself for missing signs that his son was ill, Gray feels Ben is safer with his ex-wife and her new pediatrician husband. With a heart heavy with guilt, and his documentary company failing to find a story, he’s searching for some spark in his life to fix everything. When a series of arson attempts draws him to Los Angeles, he meets the secretive, scarred, and tattooed Logan, who makes him an offer that Gray knows he should refuse.
This opposites-attract love story features two single dads reaching a crossroads in life, angst, secrets, arson, intimidation, and a found family so tightly connected that nothing can break it apart.

I wanted to fall in love with this book because the premise of it intrigued me and, in the main, I got my wish.
Both Grey and Logan are compelling characters, each with unique quirks that made them interesting to read about and get invested in.
I very much liked the found family at the heart of Logan's garage, all of who will be getting their own stories in a spin-off series coming next year.
Grey's son Ben and his ex-wife and her new husband were also positive figures, no evil exes here, although Logan's former partner Izzy, mother of his cute as a button daughter Cassidy, came close on occasion.
Where I've dropped a star is in the wider story about the investigation that Grey is looking into for his documentary.
It just felt a little flat for me
I also didn't buy fully into the speed of Grey and Logan's falling in love. Did I believe they were attracted to each other and had the potential to fall, absolutely, I think I just wanted a bit more on page conversation after they'd admitted it could be more. The 'I love yous' just felt a bit too fast given how little time they'd actually spent together.
Still, both of those are small concerns and neither takes away from the overall enjoyment of seeing two dads who couldn't be more different, find the strength to make themselves vulnerable.
It was also cool to get a guest appearance from everyone's favourite firefighter Eric, and get a name check of his best mate, our favourite cop Leo!
#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
It's an interesting one. It has a mix of crime novel "we need to find out or else" vibes, angsty moments due to emotional backstories and sweet romance to give it spice. At times the jumps between the mystery of the neighborhood takeover and the moments between Gray and Logan were a bit brusque, and I wish we'd gotten a bit more time with them together alone just being, but I like them as a couple. Is this my favorite of the series? No, listen is still the holder of the title. Is it good and enjoyable? Yes it is. Am I interested as hell for the redcar series? Absolutely
Gray is a journalist and Logan is a mechanic, a very unlikely pairing. They do fall in love amongst the wrong being done to the community Logan lives in. I enjoyed this story a lot.
I really have enjoyed the Single Dads series and loved Logan and Gray!! They are so different, they come from completely different backgrounds but Gray feels a connection with Logan that he can’t explain. Logan won’t let himself feel, he has too many worries to think about love or relationships.
This book has so much going on yet nothing is overwhelming it’s just perfectly wrote!! Gray digging in, being an investigative reporter, trying to put the pieces together to help Logan in addition to his son and his health issues. Logan owning a car shop, fixing cars, looking out for friends and seeing his daughter, having to deal with things that could change everything for him.
There’s someone messing with people who live and work in this area, dangerous, trying to make people leave their homes. But Gray is determined to figure it out to help Logan even when Logan pushes him away.
These two are just amazing together, their kids, the friends and being the support each other needs even if they won’t admit it!
If you haven’t started this series, get on it!! Each book is fabulous with fantastic stories!!
This story was a mix of crime/mystery and romance, surprisingly heavy on the mystery aspect. It was different than the previous books in this series but in a good way. I wish there was a bit more interaction with the kids but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this book and this series. I think I read somewhere this was the final book(?) and I'm really sorry to see it end if that's the case but excited to read the spin-off Redcars Series. I'm looking forward to Enzo's love story and hoping Robbie fits in there somewhere.
QUICK THOUGHTS
● Single dads ● Grumpy/Sunshine ● Opposites attract ● Combatants to lovers ● Instant attraction ● Angst ● Crime/mystery ● Secrets ● No horrible exes ● There are kids but they're not in the story enough, I would have liked more ● Chosen Family (a really good one) ● Fighting for love ● Loved the MCs... Logan & Gray ● Didn't want to see "The End" ● Very satisfying ending ● Characters from previous books make an appearance but this can definitely be read as a stand-alone
I adore this story! Ben and Logan's start was contentious to say the least. So much happened in this story. We get to meet Tudor, who seems one way but we learn just how he really is. There are mysterious things, danger, someone who deserves to be smacked into next month. We meet some men who have made mistakes in the past , who've been hurt in the past, who are helped and given a safe space to live and work. Now back to Logan and Ben. We get lots of kisses and cuddles and sexy times. Misunderstandings. You know , everything needed to make a great love story! That is all I will say. The reader needs to experience everything for themselves. Cassidy and Ben have amazing personalities .
5/5 pairs of purple tennis shoes.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
I received an Advanced Readers Copy for my honest review.
This was such a great book from the first page to the last. Grey is perfect for Logan. This book has mystery, danger, a jerk, some great kids, and some sweetness. We meet a new group of men who have made past mistakes and are just trying to get by without being judged for it. This book is a must read.
The man from the wrong side of the tracks meets the man from the all the right sides of the tracks in most unvelcoming circumstances. What they have in common at the start is their undeniable sizzling attraction wich is starting to feel like much more. Logan is overwhelmed by responsibilities and current events in his life that might cost him everything that means something in his life so he's burying his head in the sand, but some things won't go away only because he's in denial. He's fighting tooth and nail to keep tenacious and methodical investigative reporter out of his life and out of his thoughts. Luckily for him and many others Gray won't let go. As usual - anything written by RJ Scott is well worth your time - actually I've never read a book from this author that I didn't like or love. Some are on my reread list. Then why four stars instead of five you might wonder. It's because I wish there was more balance between story and relationship development and I got the feeling that story was chasing it's tail in first 40% and a more detailed background of the MC's was lacking in this part. It was just enough to keep my attention, but got me a bit frustrated - like - please throw me a bone already. But after that I couldn't put it down. Side characters were strong , intriguing and I am over the moon that we'll get their stories too in a new RedCar series. Already added them to my wish list. I truly hope that one of these stories includes Killian. His brief appearance swept me off my feet.
Logan and Gray’s story has a little bit of everything…suspicion and doubt, corruption, intrigue and mystery, multi-layered evil and a whole lot of instalove. It features two devoted dads, one spunky 6-year-old, a band of misfits and a teen learning to manage chronic Illness.
The story takes place in an idyllic enclave of Los Angelas where hard-working people can live and work and raise their families in an honest yet modest lifestyle. Free from the encumbrances of gangs and untouched by poverty and despair. But all is not what it seems.
Scott creates a world and a cast of characters that a reader can happily immerse themselves in. The main characters are easy to love and the things motivating the characters are admirable. That being said, there’s still the tension wondering if they’ll ever get out of their own ways, and it is delicious.
Loosely affiliated with other Single Dads books, this can easily be read as a stand-alone, or a reader could contentedly dive in to the whole series.
With a simmering second romance heating up in the background, I was never happier to see a “coming soon” note from an author.
The relationship between the men is very much an explosion, over a gathering fire and I would have preferred to have seen just a bit more on how characters got in as deep as fast as they did.
What a very interesting story this turned out to be! Both are single fathers, but in completely different situations. Gray has an amazing co-parenting thing going on, while Logan is fighting for more time with his daughter. That's not the only difference between the men, Logan is in jeopardy of losing everything, and doesn't have time to deal with Gray and any feelings that might be happening. But what happens when Gray isn't going as quietly away as Logan had hoped? Will Logan realize that he also is in jeopardy of losing something else?
There was a lot going on in this story, so much that for a second I felt a little overwhelmed. But that quickly left the more the story played out. This gives us a few feels, for most of us that read this that have children can empathize with both Gray and Logan. I'm really happy with how all of this worked out and give this 4 stars.
I loved this story from start to finish, the 2 main characters Gray and Logan really grabbed me and I needed to know their story. Once started I kept reading till the end.
The secondary characters were fab, especially the guys at Redcars and I'd definitely love to get a bit more about them hopefully in future books.
The story for me flowed well and this is a nice easy read with plenty to grab your attention. I personally love this series and this a great addition.
Was not a fan of jumping back and forth with the storyline, to me this book is missing the one on one time between Gray and Logan that we typically get with RJ’s books.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆ This is the sixth book in the series, and they are all worth a read. You could read this as a standalone, and then go back and enjoy the others.
I really liked most of the elements of this book, I am just not sure that they all worked together for me. There is really a lot going on, with multiple characters who we are not entirely sure whether we should or shouldn't care about them. That slowed the pace, and distracted me from the obvious potential of the relationship brewing between Logan and Gray. I bought their strong attraction, and even the lack of trust which Logan afforded any new person in his life, but the turn around to love was speedy, even for my romantic nature.
I thought their respective offspring did help to show their matching fundamental goodness, even if they had polar opposite ways of dealing with their natural fears of being a good parent. This theme, which has run through all the books, is well written and provides much of the fun parts of the book.
I am looking forward to the guys at Redcars getting their stories told in future books.
Angie – ☆☆☆ I have read every book in the series so far. You can read this book as a standalone.
I was excited, jumping into this book because I enjoyed previous books in the series. I had a really hard time getting through this book. I put it down and tried several times. It didn't work for me. I didn't feel the connection between Logan and Gray, especially how fast it went. Then the whole documentary thing just seemed weird to me. I think if the documentary aspect was removed, I might have been more engaged. I'll continue with the series; everyone isn't going to love every book and that was the case for me with this one.

Wanted to read this in June because its Pride month and this is called Pride. I was happy to see Logan and Gray's story. I wanted more of the kids in it though but the rest I enjoyed so much.
Logan runs Redcars a garage that works on cars mostly T-Birds and ones like that. He meets Gray when he saves him and Tudor who's like a dad to him one morning. He doesn't like Gray because he's A journalist and that to him is like a cop which he doesn't need around. Though there definitely needs be investigating done into the fires and what happens that morning they meet.
Gray is not wanting to have the story about the garage but the community and what is happening. The ones that work at the garage are up in arms about it too because they all have pasts that don't want no one looking into but that's not what Gray cares about.
He wants them to be safe, especially Logan's daughter who he is fighting to keep in the USA from her step dad taking her away. I was relieved on how turned out for them. Was also happy that Gray stopped being scared about being around his son Ben in case he had another diabetic situation.
I can't wait for the next series because want more of Enzo, Robbie, Rio, and Jamie.
Gray is after a story, a story of corporate greed and corruption. What he finds is so much more, he finds a history of kindness to the downtrodden and a man trying to protect them and save their community. Logan took over Redcars Automotive to continue its history of giving people a second chance just as he was given years before. Gray's son is diabetic and his ex's new husband is a pediatrician and Logan thinks Ben would be better off with them after he is diagnosed. Logan has joint custody of his daughter and is faced with a custody battle as his ex's new husband wants to take the girl to Switzerland. Logan distrustful Gray afraid he'll expose the sordid lives of the men at Redcars. These two can't deny their mutual attraction as they learn to trust and depend on each other for the family they are forming and the community they are trying to protect.
Sometimes when there are two MC’s telling the story, the story still predominately belongs to one of them. This was not the case here.
Logan and Gray each had incredible stories of their own running parallel to their romance. I loved how the different aspects of their stories interconnected, it was so well constructed!
I adore this series, Dads with kids are my MM romance kryptonite and RJ Scott knows how to bring them to life to the point that I want to join their family!!!
I loved the family found aspect in this story, I was so thrilled to see a spinoff series coming soon because not knowing what happens between Enzo and Robbie would be a catastrophe!!!
After being left in sole charge by Nick (prevous book) Gray is floundering slightly - looking for a suitable subject for the next invesigative documentary and lacking a front-man to present the eventual programme - he clashes with the owner of a car repair shop who doesn't trust authority figures (oversimplification!). The trailer park in which Logan loves is under threat - as is the repair shop - from less than scrupulous developers. Also involved is Logan's daughter - who loves the repair shop - and who may be taken to Switzerland when her step-father is posted there by his family business.
A slightly different pairing here - and several figures from other books in the series become involved peripherally...

Great intro to characters that are set up to be a new spin off series. The MCs in this one are both dads, but not single dads thus time around since they both have an ex that is still in the picture. This series has always been a little grittier and the lives of most of characters have been rough. Looking forward to the new series.
MM, Opposites Attract, Single Dads, Contemporary, Romance. The sixth book in the series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone or as part of the series. With a fast paced plot full of intrigue, secrets, lies, angst, steam and found family this a page-turner and tearjerker with great characters, lots of info and a guaranteed HEA.
This whole series is worth a read. Logan is worried about losing his daughter and his home. Grey just wants to find out the truth behind what is going on. These two couldn’t be more different but that is part of what makes them work.
Loved Gray and Logan and Cassidy and Tudor and the Redcars crew! It was fun to watch Grey break down Logan’s walls. Looking forward to more of the Redcars crew!
