Repossess My Heart

Rate this book
Her- What's worse than needing a life-saving organ transplant as a child? Growing up and realizing your deadbeat dad defaulted on the payments for that organ. He got this heart on loan, and if that sounds like it shouldn't be a thing, you'd be right. It shouldn't be, but here we are. Organ repossessions are on the rise along with the poverty line and I'm desperate to not become another cracked open body in some dark alley. I'm desperate to avoid him… the repo man.

Him- She's fucking gorgeous and painfully easy to find. In any other circumstance, I might have asked her out, fed her, fucked her and then never spoken to her again. Men in my line of work don't stay in the same place for long. Unfortunately for her, I'm the best in the business and I just so happen to be here to repossess her heart. Literally.

Repossess My Heart is a dark romance novel therefore, some of the content behind the cover may be upsetting to some readers. Reader discretion is advised and as always, you can find a full detailed list of the content in this book at the author's website.

Oh. My fucking. GODDDD.

Touch her and you die? No, Nine is GLANCE IN HER DIRECTION AND YOU GET SLAUGHTERED. and he delivers on that promise.

I absolutely adore Callie’s writing but this one blows everything out of the water. The dystopian world she created was unlike anything I’ve ever read. The story had me gripped on page fucking ONE. The love story had my heart in a fucking vise.
And the spice, 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I would jump into this universe again and again and again….

I’m into Callie Moss recently after reading For the Love of Layla. I hate typos in books but if a book has merit, I will usually be lenient. I don’t really bring it up in the review unless it is consistent, basic errors or when the story would have truly benefited from it.

I’m not sure if a proofreader was used because it was very difficult to understand this story. I felt like I gaslit myself, wondering if I was too dense that I needed everything spelled out for me.

The first few chapters were clear, even if there was a pattern of the reader having to fill in some gaps. Very Blade Runner-esque. In a dystopian future, there are repo men, sort of like bounty hunters/debt collectors who go after people after they don’t pay back their debts. They have their drones to help them hunt their cases. There also appear to be cyborgs and half cyborg-half human people… the hero has a mechanical arm. There are some unique and interesting world-building like a scene in the Ender Brothel… think of this as snuff film… so this was definitely a much more gore-y and violent in some instances.

However, about 40% in I just had trouble connecting with the couple and the overall plot. You can see the plot points that Callie Moss makes but they don’t feel exciting or make complete sense once you get there.

There’s a conspiracy about the world and reveals are made about the past. The hero has a plan to burn it all to the ground.

I really wanted to get lost in this story, but I just couldn’t. At first, I loved the couple. He is after her, while she has been hiding out from repo men all her life. He finds her at a strip club. He is unable to bring her in and instead stalks her and decides to take her along with him for his decades-long revenge plan.

I do think that if there was a proofreader to help with punctuation as well as disjointed gaps (it didn’t feel intentional, the choppiness of unfolding scenes or how information was relayed), this could have been a solid 4 stars for creativity alone.

However, I have to leave it at a mid 3-stars.

Loved this dark romance. This book was an amazing story with a great twist. It was definitely very dark and gory with the perfect amount of spice and it featured some amazing characters. I would recommend this to anyone who loves dark romance especially those who love the enemies to lovers trope.

I was broken and repaired all in one book. As I write this review, I’m coming off of my third deep cry session from this book lmao. It’s very seldom that a book renders me nearly speechless, but this was the one that did it. I want to start off by saying that Callie Moss is so incredibly talented. I don’t say this because I received a free copy, I say this because this isn’t the first work of hers I’ve read (although this is my first arc from her) and I’ve fallen in love with her writing style and the way she writes so passionately. So with all of that out of the way, I’m going to try to explain eloquently to you why this book had me sobbing, why I wish I could read it again for the first time, and why you should pick it up yourself.

We’re introduced to a world unlike any I’ve ever read before. I’m not much for horror, but as soon as Nine was introduced I put my preconceived notions aside and went into this with a fresh mindset. Nine is..well Nine is complex. He’s a man on a warpath of destruction after having his entire life stripped bare and no one can stop him. Except the girl with the empty eyes. Reverie is just a girl that wants to escape her unconsensual burdens and is now being hunted by the big bad Repo man, daddy Nine himself. What I found the most endearing was how much Nine kept denying any conflicting emotions for Reverie but he would find himself doing small gestures to save her. That is, until those gestures became more drastic (chapter 23 had me crying for ten minutes) and eventually it just evolves into pure love. Through all the plot twists and eventful turns, and boy were those BIG, their story was told beautifully, almost like an art piece. Even if it hurt like a b*tch at times (10’s drone🥲) And that’s exactly why I would read it again and again. Throughout all of the emotion, you’re met with nothing but smooth flowing storytelling and a beautiful budding romance between two broken souls trying to mend and save one another the only way they know how. Which is apparently to keep calling her a “little freak” (love it) Oh and Six, we can NOT leave Six out of this 😏

Repossess my Heart crushed my soul and put it back together shiny and fresh. I think if you’re willing to put up with the TW’s, you too could, and should, enjoy the absolute rollercoaster that is this gem of a book.

Some Spoilers
OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK! This was a book I didn't know I needed, and I am so glad the author wrote it and loved every minute of it. This book was inspired by Repo the Genetic Opera which is a movie I Love!
The premise is this world is broken up into three sections (Above, Below and The Down). This mainly takes place in the below sector where everyone lives in poverty just struggling to survive especially those weight down by their debts of new organs or body parts/modifications. All usually financed and when they can't afford to pay their debts well in comes the repo man to take it back. (anyone else who watched the movie hear that in the narrator's voice?). This story is about Reverie who is an unchipped (undocumented) person hiding in the below who received a replacement heart as a baby and is years behind on her debt. She has kept hidden for most of her life in her apartment first by her mother who died and then her care BOT (robotic companion) who continued to keep her hidden from the world using extreme measures. However, Her BOT Cece eventually broke down but before it did, she installed illegal tech in Reverie that acted as a sort of warning device for danger at times. That along with her never leaving her home except to work and being extremely careful has allowed her to evade the repo men. That is until one day one her way home she is recorded by a NARC bot and her image is transmitted to a repo man by the name of 9.
This repo man develops an immediate obsession with her because of her beauty but especially because of her eyes which are beautiful but at the same time he hates them because they are dead, and he wants them to be alive when he takes them for his collection. Thats right along with needing to repo her heart he also wants to take her eyes to display them. So, he begins to stalk her and eventually kidnaps her. This is all before 30% of the book!!!!

This book is an emotional rollercoaster of dealing with the darkness of 9, Reviere's desire now that she's been caught to just end it all and their twisted desire for each other and their coming together to heal not just each other but also bring down the corrupt people who maintain the divide between the levels. I loved Reviere who even when she wanted to die pushed 9 and fought back. I thought she was a very strong FMC who also just wanted to be set free and 9 even at his worst had moments of dark humor slip through (probably unintentionally) that made him likable. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone, and I will be buying a physical copy for my shelves.

If I’m the sun… it’s because he made me. Chiseled and stabbed at the broken parts until I remembered how to shine.

Okay, for the lovers of the 'touch her and d!e' trope, like myself, this book was everything!! Nine was the epitome of 'don't even look or breathe next to her or I'll sl!ce you'. He's unhinged and absolutely crazy but my god, his protectiveness and possessiveness towards reveries was so yummy!!

“Leave one bruise on that pretty bronze flesh and I’ll open you mouth to *ss, pr!ck.” I seethe.

This was one of the craziest, weirdest books I've read in a while but tell me why I could not put it down!! It's a post-apocalyptic dystopian fantasy story set in a world where the rich live above and the poor live underground, basically. There are robots that look like humans and humans that are half robots because of all the medical enhancements available now. Reverie was born with a heart problem and her mom did everything she could to save her, including having her deadbeat dad get her a heart through a loan, which later she finds out he defaulted the payments to her, so she spends most of her life hiding from the Repo Men that comes to collect payment or the organ.
Nine is close to being one of the best Repo Man, reaching the top and taking out Ten is his next step to be one step closer to finalizing his plan that's been in the works for the past twenty years, and for that, he needs to keep a perfect record of collections, which he does, until her.

Oh, sweetling. What have you done to me? I'm supposed to kill you. I will kill you, but until that moment I’ll be utterly fucking obsessed.

His obsession with Reverie will turn his life upside down but he wouldn't have it any other way. Reverie was ready to die, she was tired of hiding and having to look over her shoulder every time she left the house, but Nine had other plans for her.

Because that’s what I want, to be taken by him. Destroyed by him. “Mine.” He growls against my skin, and a thrill runs down my spine.

I started this read thinking it would be a dark kind of mafia romance but wow was I surprised. This gritty dystopian dark romance was so good!!! Tbh, it did take me a while to understand the mechanisms of this world and the rules of society, and sometimes during the read, I got lost a bit but it just took a bit of getting used to. It was an incredible read, I loved it, it was a good surprise, and halfway through I could not put my Kindle down and was devouring the story.

Tropes/K!nks:
- Repo Man/Organ collector
- Touch her and d!e (times 1000!!!)
- Enemies to lovers
- Dystopia
- Fantasy
- Dark
- Gory/Gritty
- "mine"
- Kn!fe play
- Blood play

Thrilling, Gory and Messed Up!

This romance is dark, not bully dark, like murderer dark. Not mafia dark, not psycho stalker dark, like MUDERER dark. She is just as messed up as he is in the head, and he calls her the "weirdo"

He is not the touch her and die sort. Noooo... He is the touch her and loose the hand first, then the limb and then your organs one at a time - last, your eyes. And then f*ck her on the corpse.

This had me reading it side-eyed - wanting to shy away from the gore but, my eyes were riveted to the words. It is not in any way a redeeming book, so dive your dark little hearts in and bathe in the blood.

I had to put it down because I couldn't handle the gore but, it is really well written and the story is compelling. I'm eager to see you make it past where my stomach dropped out.

*It was reminiscent of the Mind F*ck series vibes - if you loved that series like I did.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an unbiased review. And I have to say, the author was very reassuring about it. This is my first ARC and I enjoyed the experience even though I dnf the book 🥰.

Cyberpunk
Serial killer/Organ collector
Unhinged Mmc

I had so much fun reading this story, the vibes are immaculate. The Mmc, Nine, is psychotic, evil, and so so hot
"I’ll rip you open and sew you back together so nobody… nobody will stand the look of you but me. You’d be disgusting to them, but not me. You’d always be beautiful to me.”

The fmc, Reverie, is broken and battered but she has spunk and I really liked her character arc.
"I’m not a violent or hateful person… I’m not any kind of person. I’m a shell and this is the least shell-like I’ve felt in years."

This book would easily be a 5 star read if it had gotten a bit more editing.

I’m giving this book 5 stars I feel like it was made just for me. When I was a teenager, I watched repo the genetic opera. This was inspired by that and I love it. You did not have to see the movie for this book to be awesome though. It was brutal and heartwarming at the same time. The prologue at the beginning of the book provided details into the universe that I felt really helped you sink into the scene in the opening of the book. I think she did a great job with the descriptions of the universe. I think she also did a great job, bringing in psychological trauma and developing the characters throughout the story. The way she portrayed a woman dead inside from running for too long and a man obsessed, she developed those characters in a cohesive way that made me laugh, cry, and smile by the end was amazing. Brovo Callie you knocked it out of the park.

This is an ARC review. This review will be relatively spoiler free, but if there's anything I feel that might spoil the book, I will put it in separate spoiler tags. Overall, I will try and keep the book-plot a secret 😉

How am I supposed to gut you while you’re making a boring face like that?” I growl.(.....)
No fear. She’s not afraid. “Can’t you cry a little or something? At least pretend to be scared. It’s fucking creepy.”

Stats:
🔥 H: His name is Nine. Stalker, Obsessive, Possessive, "only-i-get-to-k*ll-you", OTT, alpha, he is a h*tman for hire (so to speak...), psychopathic with "collecting k*ll trophies" tendencies, white-blonde hair

If she’s reduced to gore, it’ll be by me, and I’ll adore every scrap of meat

🔥 h: Her name is Reverie. She's a bit more darker than I thought she'd be. S*icidal- but trust me only in the best way! If you've read any other CALLIE MOSS books, then her character is similar. (she's a str*pper), slightly psychopathic too
🔥 Plot/Storyline: 4/5. This book is darker in general. Not just the romance, it's very descriptive and gory.
🔥 Writing: 4/5
🔥 Tropes: Dub-con, "touch-her-and-die","your-life-AND-death-belong-only-to-me","if-you-die-I-die. If-i-die-you-die", dark romance
🔥 OW/OM/OP: I know my safety gang wants all info 😈 No OW/OM/OP drama AT ALL. I will give you more details if you want ➡️ 🚨🚨THERE WILL BE SPOILERS from this point on 🚨🚨

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ SPOILER OVER ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

The book is set in a dystopian world. Where people have gone underground and the system is divided into three parts: Above, Down and Below based on your status (financial) in society.

Our H is commissioned to unlive the h and that's where the book takes place. She wants to d*e and that is unsettling to him. I will warn readers tho, even though he is intrigued by her there are scenes that will make you question it, there is a scene where he hits her projectile with something and another where he blatantly ignores her boundary (or her fear). This book is 🖤.

IMO, CM writing has evolved a LOT. There is a ton of information in this book to swallow. I only have two critiques:
▻I wish the transition scenes were more descriptive. The writing is immersive so imaging how a character transitions from dancing one moment to walking home is weird. I had to re-read paragraphs in between and sometimes I'd get a whiplash from how the characters are no longer in the setting I thought they were in.
▻The characters descriptions. It took me the longest time to figure out how the H actually looked and how other characters look. The lack of description in the book about scenes and people makes it hard to imagine stuff. The characters live inside their heads too much, which also made it difficult to follow flash-back scenes and envision characters' (specially Nine's) past.

Nine is an extremely possessive dude and I am here for it! 🙌🏼

Make so much of a step towards anyone that isn’t me and I’ll make sure you never die. Your life will be long, and every fucking minute filled with agony. And I’ll be there with you the whole time. Every day to clean you of blood, piss and shit so I can stuff my cock down your throat until it's raw and even your pretty little screams don’t have substance. Open your mouth, now.

He is also unapologetically dark and possessive: “Reverie, sweetling, shut your beautiful fucking mouth unless you have something useful to say to me.

Honourable Mention to when they were caught with his 👆🏼🖕🏼 inside her 🌸 by their friend: “I’m heading out.“ Six announces from behind us.I gasp at the loss as he quickly withdraws his finger using the arousal coated digit to flip Six off, “One more step and I come out of retirement.”

Reverie is an equally sassy b*tch and gives as good as it gets. 💁🏻‍♀️
What… what are you doing with your face?” I force a mock shuddering breath through my lungs as he slips his hand down to my throat, teasing and prodding the badly bruised flesh there. “Shut up for a second. I’m trying to cry.”

I also want to thank 🎊🎊🎊Callie Moss with the biggest ever THANK YOU🍾🥂 for giving me an opportunity to be a part of her ARC team and for giving me this book. This truly was a one of a kind book, I've never read before. The World-Building is very unique and complete, there (according to me) are no holes in the world-building or character building.

Oh, sweetling. What have you done to me? I'm supposed to kill you. I will kill you, but until that moment I’ll be utterly fucking obsessed.

However, this particular quote sums up the whole entire book for me:
“That was all highly toxic and we’re all about to die.”

What a wonderful mash of dark romance, dystopian splatterpunk and enemies to lovers. Perfection. Seriously someone needs to figure out amnesia for books. I need to read this again and again. And will.

I didn’t wanna like Nine. I tried kinda hard not to. (Not really I love him) But as always I fell for his gruff demeanor and his revenge plot. I. Love. A. Tortured. Soul. And Nine is definitely in that category. His past trauma made my soul hurt and when he announced what his plan was I cheered! He works as a Repo Man and is given Reverie as an assignment but he’s unable to fulfill it because her eyes bother him. Then he enjoys using her body, then he enjoys her company. The progression is delicious.

Reverie was honestly kinda depressing but in a completely understandable way. She just wants to die. She’s given the burden of a huge debt before she is even old enough to fend for herself and then left alone with a care bot for years. And when she’s finally given what should be an easy way out that, he won’t do it because her eyes are wrong. Dead. Her character development will stay with me forever. I started feeling sympathy for her and cheering her on as well.

I SOBBED those last few chapters. I like listening to the playlists authors give and man I wish I had skipped Gilded Lily by The Cults. Tore my freaking heart out. But the ending was so satisfying. I was still crying but it was satisfying to read.

The world building in this is absolutely fantastic. I’m still kinda new to the world of splatterpunk and anything dystopian but I would read 400 pages more of this book.

This is a dark romance that does what I wish "Repo: The Genetic Opera" had done. There are some violent scenes that might bother you if you don't have a strong stomach for that sort of thing.

I really enjoyed the relationship building, especially in the first half of this book. Reverie and Nine have a relationship where each thinks the other one is more messed up than they themselves. There are unexpected moments of dark humor. For example, they have an exchange where Nine basically says, "I'm trying to r*** you! Stop enjoying it!" If that isn't something you can find humor in, this may not be the dark romance for you. Watching these two find their way to love was enjoyable.

I do think this book could use a little more editing. Also, at times, I found the plot a little hard to follow. In particular, there is a section in the middle where a lot of plot points get thrown at the reader very quickly, and I had to repeat a few pages several times to understand the gist of what was going on.

All in all, if you enjoy the theme of "messed up people finding love," this book is for you!

This was unlike anything I've ever read.
It was a dystopian setting, which I found confusing as times. I still enjoyed that aspect, though.
There were quite a few grammatical errors throughout the story, but it didn't take away from the story.
The premise was great- a girl who feels nothing, and a repo man sent to take her heart (literally, his job is to cut her heart out bc she couldn't afford to pay for it.)
Well, he can't kill her because her eyes aren't right. (Emotionless) He basically says "you're mine until your eyes are fixed". I loved this. It added something special to this story.
I reallyyyyyy wanted more tension. This felt kinda.. insta lovey to me. I wanted more of a chase. I was also confused by the politics in the plot. Around the 70/80% mark, the plot got muddy.
Overall, pretty cool story! It just fell a bit flat for me.

This was an intense and twisted story set in dark dystopian times. I loved the plot of this story. It was exciting and never a dull moment. I absolutely adore Nine and how intricate of a character he turned out to be. The enemies to lovers aspect with absolutely perfect! I loved the chemistry and angsty hatred between Nine and Reverie. This turned out to be nothing like I expected, and I loved every single bit of it. It's a book that will definitely stick with me for a long time!

2.5 stars. This book generally wasn’t enjoyable. The world building was ok (I think??? Who even knows atp) and the characters were…what they were. I struggled the most with the writing style. Idk if this was done on purpose stylistically or if the author just doesn’t know how to properly format and punctuate a book, but it was a tough read in more ways than one. But I finished it so there’s that.

As someone who grew up obsessed with Repo the Genetic Opera and still watches the movie at least once a month, this hit so good!

I loved the concept of the Repo Man going after a collection only to get more than he can chew. Everything within the story had a place and every place within the story had a reason for being there. The world building of this all makes the original Repo the Genetic Opera a little hanky. The world is built in a way that this is happening on all the different level and highlights the discrepancies between classes.

Anything that seemed important when mentioned was given a reason later on as to why it was even mentioned between Reverie and Nine.

Nine - I loved the layers that make him, well him. His whole thing is being a Repo Man but there’s obviously more to him than that. As I said, he has layers like an onion honestly. There’s a reason for everything he does even if he doesn’t have the answer for it right away. It makes his very dubious nature a little endearing especially towards the end of it.

Reverie - At first, I wasn’t quite sure how I should feel about her considering her heart needing to be repossessed but I really enjoyed that she just kinda wanted to get it all done and over with. Nine was just throwing a wrench in her plans of dying by his hands. She was realistically strong in the aspect of her world despite her stupid heart but she had her moments of “just shut up and move along please”

Very well rounded in such a dark storyline and a deep seated love for this novel retelling of one of the films that created the foundation of adult me.

Addictive story with great twists

Nobody writes long term mental anguish quite like Callie Moss. Being inside Reverie's mind is beautiful, painful and haunting all at once. Every chapter revealed a new layer to her that added depth to the story. Born with a heart defect, which is essentially a death sentence in this world. She is raised locked away from the world, never getting a chance to experience life and feel things, now she is numb and feels she owes it to her mother to survive as long as possible. But surviving isn't *living* for her.

Nine is the repo man sent to take back what is keeping her alive. He's cold, brutal, and ruthless. Except something about Reverie intrigues him, and he realizes he isn't finished with her yet. For somebody that is a trained killer, I had no idea just how broken this man was, but that brokenness matched Reverie's to perfection.

I can't get enough of the broken heroines this author writes, and the cruel men that refuse to let them give up on life, even if it's just so they can suffer together.

The only downside of this book was the world building. It sounded like such a cool dystopia world, but truthfully, half the time I had no idea what I should be picturing! There was too much telling and not enough showing what was going on.

“I know I’m not starting off this boyfriend thing well. To be honest, I’ve never had a girlfriend before but I can see that dismembering your things and stabbing your mom's corpse isn’t a step in the right direction-“

This. Fucking.book.

It wasn’t perfect…the transitions were ROUGH. I had to go and reread because I felt like I was missing something with the scenes. There were some grammatical errors as well…but these issues I think had to do more with whoever the editor was.

All that being said….when the writing hit, it HIT. There were so many beautiful lines in this book and I was here for it. I became so invested in Nine and Reverie and reading their story. It was such an interesting plot and setting. I think it was so unique that you had an FMC who was ready and WILLING to die. She was a great character and paired so well with Nine who is seriously psycho (but you really understand why). Their chemistry was great as well as their banter… “I love you, asshole.” “I love you more, freak.”

Special shout out to Nine’s drone who I LOVED as well as Six who was always giving us great lines like “I didn’t know you two were going to be dramatic as fuck and Romeo and Juliet yourselves.” 😂

I would probably give this book 4.5 just for the rough writing at times but Goodreads is a bitch and won’t let us do half stars, so rounding up to 5.

What a unique dark, enemies to lovers romance, set in a futuristic dystopian world. Dark and Gory with a plot twist I didn’t see coming.

He is Organ collector/ Surgical Assassin and she has a failing heart that she’s missed payments on. He’s tasked to kill her and repo her heart. But when he does, he finds her eyes blank. He needs to see fear and emotions so he can collect her eyes. She has been waiting for the Repo man, waiting to die. However, he won’t kill her. Consequently, the journey begins with the MMC dragging the FMC along with his scheme that has been meticulously planned for the past two decades. He will kill her once her eyes are no longer blank and boring or will he?

This story took me by surprise! I didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t this. What a surprise! This was full of futuristic technology, angst, societal oppression, violence, political intrigue action and love. Oh and the spice was spicin’! It wasn’t smut; it was just the right amount of spice to enhance the plot.

Repossess my heart features a woman with a heart in debt, named Reverie, who grew up learning to hide and keep safe—sometimes via forced captivity by her mother’s droid after her mother died.

The “hero” of the story is an unhinged repo man who repos body parts when the host doesn’t pay. Hence how this repo man, Nine, and Reverie meet.

It’s an enemies to lovers dark romance with expertly trained murde*ers for hire.

The enemies to lovers is the perfect burn—not instalove and not slow burn. The intrigue is there from the beginning with a satisfying build up.

One of it’s many strengths is how fast the plot is. Each scene is interesting and never did I feel like it dragged along or that any parts were not important.

The plot overall has a touch of mystery built in to the world. It’s satisfying and effective. And the twists and turns are so refreshing and incredibly well done!

This is nothing like what Callie usually writes and that’s not to be taken in a negative way! The story was addicting and I couldn’t put it down. A lot of people would consider it very gory. I am not one of those people. So just a heads up if you’re squeamish this is probably not a good book for you. However if you love dark romance, enemies to lovers, dystopian, and gore this is a great book for you. Nine is my favorite and his eye collecting 🥵 Messaged Callie just to find out if he’d collect my eyes. (She reassured me he would 💁🏻‍♀️) The scene where we thought Nine was betraying Reverie had me livid and nearly throw my kindle against the wall. Anyways, amazing book as always. Definitely recommend, writing is great, plot is great, story is great and characters are amazing.

I did receive this book for free as an arc reader in exchange for an honest review 💚

Beware this book has triggers....If dub-con, m*rder, and blood play isn't for you, keep scrolling.

In a world where the rich live in the "Above", those that try to survive are living below earth's surface, trying to survive and avoid the Repo Men. Reverie is living on borrowed time, looking over her shoulder due to 14 years of running because of a heart she didn't ask for. But her mother gave her life, to make sure Reverie lived.
When Reverie is caught she knows her time is up and she is ready to embrace death, but the Repo man named NINE, wants more than just her heart. This results in her being thrust in a dystopian battlefield of what the world knows and what the truth is, and at the end of it all, is Reverie ready to give her heart away literally or figuratively?

I’ll preface by saying I loved the book, and I loved Nine as a ML. But there were a few bits that had me like 😬

Not even touch her and die - look at her or even think of her and I’m cutting limbs off :p

My only criticism is I feel the ending fell a bit flat, without alot of closure. I was hoping for a showdown with the two migs you meet earlier in the book. I would have liked to learn more about them/encounter them a bit more. And more of an explanation behind the child formed mig would have been really interesting.

And weirdly - I felt the epilogue was a bit long. But I’m really happy for the HEA. I loved the character development from both of them - going from the silly banter and nine dragging reverie around like a rag doll to their happy, relaxed ending was really nice.

They deserved it.

*BOOK REVIEW*

BOOK: Repossess My Heart
AUTHOR: Callie Moss
PLOT: Imagine living in a world where you are killed in order to have a body part repoed. This is Reverie's situation. Her mother dies and leaves Reverie in debt. This debt? One heart. Reverie received a life saving heart transplant when she was a child, and now she's in danger of death at the hands of Nathan aka Nine. Nine is enraptured with Reverie and is looking forward to having his way with her and he looks forward to repose swing her heart. Then the unthinkable happens: they become attracted to each other and soon find themselves falling for each other. This could lead to some dangerous, and potentially life-threatening, repercussions. Will they be able to be together and come out alive and closer than ever, or will their love be their demise? This book was so much like my favorite horror movie Repo! the Genetic Opera, and you can tell the book takes heavy inspiration from it! This book had me hooked! I've read a few of Callie's books and adored them all, but this was my favorite! The plot twists are plentiful, and the excitement is off the charts! I can't wait to see what dark and fun romance Callie blesses us with next!!!!!

"Repossess My Heart" is the story of Reverie and Nine.

Nothing prepared me for this story.

Went into this thinking this was a dark romance with ?mafia ?organ transplant.

Turned out to be a dystopian post apocalyptic tale with a sad heroine that has a death wish, a psychotic killer (robotic) hero, lots of bots and murder, blood play and $ex and a bittersweet plot with a satisfying ending. When "that" happened at 85%- I started bawling but Im glad the author gave them a HFN?

The reason Ive rated this is because I was pretty confused about the basic plot and whatever the laws of the world were. It was very jarring when new plot points were introduced and their significance not explained (as this isnt about humans?)

Anyways good ONE time read.

Gut wrenching at moments, soul shattering at others and so many more in between. This is absolutely one of my favorite books. It is so well written and developed. The world Callie created is crazy. I am so in love with Nine and Reverie. They are psychotic and devious people who are never quite sure what they wanted when they originally met. They thought they knew at the beginning only for it to all change along the way. Plans changed, lives changed, lives taken and so much battle. I cried so many times while reading their true love story. I absolutely love this book and will always recommend it for anyone who enjoys dark romance, battles, tragedy, and futuristic aspects. Can’t wait for more!

Who knew a book with 218 pages would put me through an emotional rollercoaster! I bought this book after seeing a TikTok about it and immediately ordered. (No regrets) Going into it I didn’t know much about it or Reveries & Nines world but I was hooked as soon as I started reading it. The cover absolutely gorgeous and the story inside even more heart wrenching, while it keeps you on your toes. I definitely had to stop myself from reading ahead, or looking up spoilers on TikTok! Never did I think this book would have me in tears begging for a different ending but luckily that wasn’t the ending. I love the dynamic between Reverie and Nine I could read about them going back and forth all day. It was definitely one of my top reads this year!

This book definitely need more hype. It is a combination of the movie Repo Men, Total Recall and a good enemies to lovers. This is set in a futuristic world where there are three classes, The Above, the Below and the Down, self explanatory which class is which. Nine, MMC is a repo man that has a affliction for collecting eye of his bounty. One day he is given a Bounty he could not resist, Reverie, FMC. The world building in this story is phenomenal and their are so many layers to this story that you just have to read. The one thing I can tell you is that Reverie does has something that intrigues Nine to his core, eye so empty it shakes his to his core. 10 out of 10. From the plot to the character development, action and spice this book is a good read.
