The guy who broke my heart is now an arrogant, too-hot firefighter… who’s hell-bent on getting me back. This summer, I have one field work. I need it to finish my PhD. I never expected Finn Rhodes to offer help. He broke my heart twelve years ago, and now that he’s back in town, I want nothing to do with him. Finn wants one thing—me. We were inseparable as kids until everything changed. Now, he’s all grown up—tattooed, muscled, and unfairly hot… and insists we’re meant to be together. I know he’ll grow bored of me and this small town like before, but he’ll never give up unless it’s his idea. I’ll pretend to date him, but actually? I’m trying to get him to dump me . Between hiking the back country and cringe-worthy dates designed to turn him off, I begin to remember why we were best friends. Despite how hard I try, Finn isn’t interested in dumping me… and now I’m not sure I want him to. Finn’s always been trouble, but now he’s a different kind entirely. The kind that might break my heart. Again. Finn Rhodes Forever is a spicy, second chance, reverse grumpy sunshine rom-com. This is book four in the Queen’s Cove series but can be read as a standalone.
Stephanie writes spicy, hilarious rom-coms. Her books feature sharp banter, stubborn women, lots of laughs, and guaranteed HEA’s. She lives in Vancouver, Canada.
I'm not going to continue reading this book. I don't know if I'll come back to it or not, but omg I can't take it anymore. I'm actually kind of speechless. I love this series, but Finn Rhodes can go f*ck himself with a cactus. I can't believe the sheer amount of misplaced entitlement and audacity in a single MMC, but alas here we are.
He admits time and time again to making mistake after mistake, but she "has to forgive him"... because you deserve a second chance so much? Why? Seriously why? A single reason apart from "I'm actually not that bad and I don't want to end up alone in life. I promise I won't do it again, even though I've already done pretty unforgivable things to you and IGNORED YOU A WHOLE DECADE after."
I... I just... I can't... I'm giving it 1 star for now, because I honestly couldn't make it past The blind, assbackwards entitlement! I can't...
I really need to stop giving second chance romances any more chances (lol). But seriously, I always hate them. Instead of actually trying to earn a rightful place by their partner's side, they always just go about it the most impatient, idiotic schemes to try to earn forgiveness, instead of actually just being f*cking nice! So yeah... This was not for me.
How to lose a guy in 10 days meets second chance romance AND no third act breakup? PERFECTION!!!!
Finn and Olivia’s story was phenomenal. Both spicy and sweet and filled with SO much banter. I went from sweating to swooning to laughing so hard. I smiled like a damn fool throughout this whole book.
Finn is trying to win Olivia back after leaving their small town 12 years earlier. He basically spends the whole book grovelling and I loved every minute. He was so down bad for Olivia and it was the cutest thing ever. Olivia holds her ground and makes Finn work for it. Not to mention, she tries to sabotage him. Also seeing all the other couples from the previous books was SO fun.
I cant say enough good things about this book. Add this to your tbr, read it when it comes out, and fall in love with these fictional characters. One of my fav reads of 2023 so far! 🫶🏼
No cheating or Ow/Om drama! The best HEA <3
Thanks to the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review- all opinions are my own!
if you are a small town romance lover, grumpy sunshine lover, banter lover, PRAISE LOVER, you must read this entire series. i command you.
this last book is about finn and olivia who were childhood best friends who had finally taken things to another level after they graduated but finn moves away afterward and they’ve avoided each other since. when he gets a wake up call that he can’t keep living without her, he moves back determined to make up for their lost time.
i’ve said it before but sometimes romcom authors just aren’t that funny but this series, genuinely every single book had me laughing out loud. finn and olivia have a prank war going on the whole book and the antics and banter were so so good.
there’s also just something about a man who knows he messed up in the beginning of a book and spends the rest of it making it up to her.
when i tell you the rhodes brothers have the bigggggggest BDE ever, i am not lying and genuinely some of the best praise shmink i have ever read. already planning a reread.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. I absolutely loved the Wrong Mr. Right by this author and actually read it twice. For this book, I love second chance romance and grumpy girl/sunshine guy, and I live in the Pacific Northwest so I’m all about the hiking.
[spoilers ahead]
Unfortunately I felt like the overall concept and plot was kind of weak. People change so much in 12 years, especially from high school to full adult. Whole lives are lived, personalities change, experiences, hobbies, life goals, everything. It felt like this was not addressed at all. There was no “getting to know” the new people they had become, even though the author kept reminding us that we needed to forgive Finn because he was just a kid then when he messed up and was an adult now, though we never really find out how he changed or matured. That was another thing he was supposed to do; prove to her that he was not the same trouble making kid. But apart from wearing a button down shirt and disastrous attempts to do community service and watch his niece once, we never saw this supposed transformation.
And the reason that kept them apart - Finn really didn’t explain or grovel much, and he never really explained why he waited 12 years to come back. The high school aged panic and mistake I understand and sympathize with, the 12-year wait, I could not. I cringed every time he said something about how long he had been waiting for her, how many years he had thought about making love to the FMC or imagined doing X to her. That was HIS choice - he could have tried to come back earlier and didn’t. Why did it take him so long if he was longing for her for years? What kept him from pursuing her? Nothing. It wasn’t romantic, it was irritating and frustrating.
Just as frustrating was the FMC’s half-baked attempts to get him to break up with her. She really thought just wearing ugly clothes would do the trick? Really? And all of her terrible date ideas seemed to only torture her rather than him. The ploy was dropped so quickly too that it felt a little pointless.
I couldn’t quite finish the book either. I might come back to it, but I couldn’t stomach the inevitable breakup when Finn thinks he’s too much trouble for her and Liv is devastated when he leaves her as her mom promised he would do. The sex scenes were steamy and creative, but everything else about this book was a bust.

Finn Rhodes Forever is the charmingly sweet ending to the Queens Cove series! I had such a fun time reading this book and the whole series, and I am so excited to explore more from Stephanie Archer in the future. The story follows Olivia who has spent the last 10 years avoiding her former best friend, Finn. When she learns he is moving back to their hometown, Olivia is determined to keep her distance. All Finn wants, however, is to make it clear to Olivia that he is back for good and is not giving up on them. When Finn keeps throwing the word soulmate out to Olivia, she decides to convince him they are anything but by taking him out on awful dates and dressing as crazy as she can. However, as the two begin to "date" again, the lines blur and they soon find themselves falling back into their old roles as best friends. Finn and Olivia were so fun together, I loved the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days inspiration behind their shenanigans. The cherry on top was the progression in their relationship and how devoted Finn was to making them work. I loved that he showed and didn't just tell Olivia he was different and ready to be there for her. Add in the slow burn and the mouth that Finn showcased in the bedroom, and I was in romcom heaven! This is an all-around sweet and steamy second chance romance that I would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone.

I don’t know why I convince myself that small town romance books aren’t my thing, because every time I read them I giggle, kick my feet in the air, feel giddy and finish ‘em in just a couple of hours.
DNF 24% So you're saying, this FMC, who is my age, cut her hair so this guy she supposedly hates, but she's dating because she has a whole plan, would dump her? And shut the fuck up about being soulmates, please. I'm not even going to talk about that worthless MMC. No wait, I am: what happened to the grovel, dude? I think after a decade without talking to each other, it's the least he could do, fight to prove her that he's worth her love or something. But no, this entitled dumbass is being stupid.
---------
pre-read: I hope this is her best book because after DNF'ing two of her books, I'm giving this author one last try
in case you didn’t understand it… they’re fucking soulmates!!!
this was… idk… the plot was really bland. i didn’t like much the whole thing “finn rhodes thinks we’re soulmates but i hate him. he’ll never stop thinking that unless it’s his idea so i’m going to make him regret that and make him dump me”. the fmc was immature and so annoying. god, the whole plan was embarrassing... finn was… okay??? i guess??? nothing special or exciting.
this was supposed to be a second chance romance but they were talking about living together and having kids at 34%… everything was too fast for my liking.
i’ll be honest. i thought about DNFing this book a few times and i forced myself to finish it. the problem is not the writing because it’s not that bad. the thing is i didn’t feel any connection with the characters, i didn’t care about them at all. i wanted to write a more detailed review but the truth is i forgot everything that happened in it. two stars.
the power of 2nd chance romances lies in providing yearning and feelings right from the start
spending more time than only a chapter + epilogue with the leading couple happily together makes me feel blessed
I enjoyed the story, characters and Livs take on trying to get rid of Finn. Agreeing on a relationship definitely is one of the more unique tactics to do so. The way (emotional) struggles were handled and overcome felt thoughtful to me. In the end some things were resolved a bit too well/easily, in a way that made it feel too unrealistic for me.
first of all i didn't like how he left years ago and stayed away for 12 years. i didn't like that suddenly he decided he was done with staying away and wants to be with her again. later i understand why he left(still don't like that) and how everyone treated him was the reason why he left.
BUT i still don't like that he stayed away for 12 years, it's a very very long time and people change in time. i also didn't like how he acts as though they can continue where they left off. that being said he tried really hard to gain her trust and forgiveness and since she was already in love with him i am also forgiving him 😒😂 the only reason i'm giving 4 stars is because he can't compete with his brothers, they will always win 🤷🏼♀️
olivia and finn were childhood friends and after their highschool graduation he left and they didn't see each other for 12 years. i loved how finn was the only one believing olivia's flower searching and how he tried so hard to get her forgiveness. they were so fun together, olivia forcing him to dump her while he was wishing her to love him again 😂😭
it was nice to see that olivia made peace with his father, i don't want to blame her mother but just because your husband left you doesn't mean an eighteen year old boy will leave your daughter too. even though i understand her reasoning i felt like she stole 12 years from them 😩 anyways it was nice that at the end eveyone was happy 🙏🏼
i loved the green porsche part so much because finn tried so hard for olivia and it was good to see they got their happy ending 🤍
book club, baby shower and Emmet's fear of turtles were highlight of the book, normally i get bored if there's so many side characters but i love this town and the people 😂 there isn't ow/om drama or third act 👍🏼
i'm so happy beck is finally getting his own book!! 💅🏽
Olivia Morgan may love Finn Rhodes forever, but I do too…
This was easily my favorite out of this entire series. The chemistry between Liv and Finn was unmatched. This book had me kicking my feet and damn near squealing, and then ten seconds later laughing until my stomach hurt.
I loved Finn and Liv on their own, but together they were incredible. The banter was excellent, their “dates” were hilarious, but their relationship and feelings genuinely felt so real. I never really annotate or highlight when I’m reading, but this one I absolutely had to. I would reread this entire book just for the date with Thompson’s because it was PERFECT. Everything from the baptism dress, the junky mini-van, Little Timmy Trashrat, and the wine tossing was truly iconic.
It felt bitter-sweet ending my time in Queen’s Cove, but I had such a blast. Here’s to hoping we don’t have to stay away too long since Beck will be getting his own book! I’m down for a hot doctor with a boat…🤫
I am very pissed off at this book. Really, it’s absolutely steeped in some misogynistic bullshit. And not in the “dark romance, mafiaesque” kinda way that knows it’s steeped in misogyny, this one is unaware.
Literally EVERY bad choice a man makes is blamed on a woman, and the woman in question ends up accepting it. Livs dad leaves when she’s a kid? Here’s a quote: “He felt like we didn’t need him, that’s why he stopped calling and showing up.” From Liv herself, justifying her own father not talking to her for two decades. Because he thought SHE, a literal child, didn’t need him. Fuck that, that’s unredeemable. At the very least, needs a lot more time to be redeemed.
Finn, in a fit of self doubt, leaves and ignores her for 12 years? That’s Livs moms fault, because she told him he wasn’t good enough for her daughter. So he just…….left, without ever mentioning that to Liv. In a super caustic way, no less. And then Liv blames herself for not realizing that. IN WHAT WORLD IS FINN IGNORING HER FOR OVER A DECADE ANYONE ELSES FAULT BUT HIS OWN?! And he never actually said sorry, he just came back to town, insisting to everyone that they were soulmates and she’d realize he’d changed. Oh, but he didn’t actually change. The book tried to show us he had changed by him volunteering to babysit. The child literally almost got ran over because he wasn’t paying attention, and we’re supposed to feel bad for him? And then he, once again, walks away from Liv. But somehow that’s her fault because she should’ve stopped him?!? WOMEN ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MENS CHOICES ffs.
It was also just a really boring book that seemed to drag.
Finn Rhosed Forever is fun read. It is slow burn because the setting is on the small town romance. I enjoy it very much. It is fun, silly and romantic. Finn is definetly that playful hero. He is naughty and yet very loyal.
Miss Archer proves herself to be a very good writer. She can write a slow burn romance.
Liv Morgan was fucking gorgeous, and I would happily climb through untouched forests with her for the rest of my life.
This follows Finn and Olivia. They were best friends growing up and when they finally got together on their graduation night something happened and they never saw each other since. Now it's been more than a decade when Finn finally comes back to town and decides he wants Olivia back.
Finn is the wild one, the town troublemaker, everyone sees him as unreliable and a mess, and now he needs to prove he isn't like this anymore in order to get Olivia back.
For most of my life, I’d been madly, stupidly in love with her. It wasn’t going away, and I needed to fix the mess I made twelve years ago. Liv and I were soulmates. Leaving was the biggest mistake of my life. I needed to make her fall back in love with me, or I’d regret it forever. I was about to make a fucking fool of myself over Liv Morgan.
Olivia doesn't want anything to do with Finn, but she knows he won't give up, so she agrees to get back together with him only to make him dump her.
I couldn’t have my heart broken again by Finn. I’d never put it back together again. I had to convince Finn that he was wrong, that he didn’t want me. That we weren’t soulmates. That I wasn’t the same person as I was twelve years ago.
I wasn't that connected to the story. I found the reason for separation was quite stupid, and only if one of them picked up a phone and called and talked, everything would've been solved. I also didn't buy the sudden change in Finn. He had 12 years to rethink his actions and relationship with Olivia, and all of a sudden he wants her back? Just like that? It felt really out of the blue. He just walked back in town and told her they're soulmates. Dude, where were you for the last decade? Speaking of, they kept referring to each other as if they knew everything about the other, and they might have been best friends once, but it was 12 years ago. People change and grow and go through thing in life, and I felt like they just continued where they left off. They didn't catch up at all and re-learned one another. I also didn't feel their friendship. If it's supposed to be a second chance friends to lovers, where was the friends part? I kind of felt like they were just horny for each other the whole book.
It was nice and fun read, but at some point it felt dragging.
This was so disappointing, especially as I flew through the first three books, and this couple was building up throughout the series... to be honest, second chance is a hard sell for me, but there is something with these type of situations when author separate a couple with something they did when they were kids and then one holds a grudge for over a decade... everyone is an idiot when being a teen, and people grow up.. so the plot line wasn't working for me anyway, and Olivia was a great side character, but her book made her annoying...
But I would still read the next book in the series...
I really enjoyed this book. It was such a fun and summery read. Perfect to end the summer. Stephanie Archer is a great writer.
I loved Finn and Liv together. I am a huge fan of friends to lovers so this was really enjoyable for me. Finn is so determined to be with Liv. He is adorably confident. I love their relationship and how they are constantly teasing each other. They are best friends turned lovers and I always find these love stories to be some of the best. I found myself actually laughing out loud at times too. Finn fell first and hard. The lengths he went to, just to make Liv happy had me SWOONING. I also enjoyed how Liv was the grumpy one and Finn was always trying to get a rise out of her and when she’d smile he was so excited and happy. It’s so cute! Read this book if you like:
- reverse grumpy sunshine - childhood friends to lovers - second chance romance - one sided enemies to lovers - forced proximity
‘For every star in the sky, I had a memory with Finn. My head was full of them, and the more time we spent together, the more resurfaced. It was like I was waking up, I realized, and shaking the last twelve years off.’
I discovered Stephanie through Tiktok last year and read every book in the Queen’s Cove series. I was super excited to discover Finn because he was kind of a mystery in every one of them. He was named but we didn’t know a lot of thing about him. I must say, i’m a HUGE FAN. I’m usually not a fan of friends to lovers but love that it was a friends to « enemies » to lovers. I could feel the chemistry between Olivia and Finn. Olivia was hilarious. I love how determined she was for her PHD and trying to make Finn dump her! I like how patient Finn was with her but also his goofy self. I laugh out loud a few times!
I also liked how some more heavy topics were approached but still in a lighthearted way!
*I was lucky to receive an ARC but all opinions are mine*
