Ella Amoure has her whole life ahead of her. As a soon-to-be college graduate, majoring in marketing and minoring in international business, she has plans to see the world, which includes going to Paris, France, to complete her graduate degree in a few months. However, after falling in love, she begins to question her well thought-out plans.
Love is the last thing on Kaanan King’s mind. As a successful event organizer/party promoter and owner of multiple businesses, he’s satisfied with the nameless faces he entertains when the need arises. One night with a woman most would consider forbidden fruit changes his whole perspective on love—and all he wants is her.
When Ella and Kaanan connect, it feels like what they’ve been missing. Knowing their relationship will ruffle some feathers, they keep things on the low for as long as possible. Ella isn’t ready to expose their secret love affair, while Kaanan is tired of sneaking around. What’s done in the dark will always come to light, and when it does, will their love be strong enough to survive?
Welcome to Kay Shanee's Reading Korner Kay is forty something wife and mother, born and raised in the Midwest. During the day, she is a high school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime is reading and writing romance novels about the dopeness of BLACK LOVE.
Ella let Kaanan know she may be young but, she was more than ready. These two have unknowingly been attracted to each other for a while but, because Ella was Gabe’s baby sister, Kaanan refused to cross that line. Ella said, “bump that,” shot her shot, and got her man. Fast forward six months later and these two have been sneakin’ and freakin and tryin’ not to let their forbidden love get them caught. Because of their age difference and his past, Kaanan already knew Gabe would never approve of his relationship with Ella but, he didn’t give a rat’s azz. Insert Sheree Whitfield GIF here because, Kaanan was definitely givin' “who gon’ check me boo” vibes. I just loved how he was willing to risk it all, including his friendship with Gabe, to love Ella out loud regardless of what the naysayers had to say. This was Kaanan’s first time being in love so, that man was not tryin’ to fumble the bag. The drama with Kaanan and his parents pissed me off. His mama’s reason for abandoning them made absolutely no sense. Especially, when she could’ve returned at any given moment but chose not to. Add to that, Proctor knew where Cynthia was the entire time and didn’t tell Kaanan and Keenan even when they became adults. Both of them were trash. It annoyed the hell out of me that Kaanan eventually forgave his mama because, she definitely didn’t deserve it. I’m beefin’ with Keenan. It felt like he was choosing everyone over his brother. When everything went down while they were on vacation and he stayed at the house with Gabe instead of leaving with Kaanan, Keenan earned a permanent spot on my shyt list. Then, he constantly kept siding with his parents and dismissing Kaanan’s feelings. Yeah, Keenan gon’ have to work real hard to come off my shyt list. All I Want Is You was a great read. It keeps you engaged from start to finish and you will absolutely fall in love with these characters. But, I expect nothing less from this author. Kay Shanee delivers every time.
I enjoyed the development of the relationship between these two….Although it did seem to me the his twin brother Keenan was taking Gabe and Eli’s side initially….It didn’t seem that Keenan was supportive enough to his brother….I still don’t think The King parent provided a good enough reason for all of their secrets…..which was the main reason Kaanan had issues with people leaving him….Ella and Kaanan both went through some trauma , which ultimately brought the two back together….stronger. I think we might get a book about Keenan once he finds someone to settle down with and Eli and Kaleena…..because I think he’s feeling her.
I love Kaanan! There, I said it! ❤😂 This man was bout his business, thriving and all, but whenever Ella was around, he felt a way! He ignored those feelings until he could not. I loved how Kaanan and Ella kept a united front against Gabe’s anger about their union. He could stay mad forever as far as Kaanan was concerned, he had his woman! I know about the unwritten rule, but sometimes you gotta say, f**k them rules! 😂 They were so cute together. Now this drama with Kaanan’s egg donor was some mess chile! Where they doin’ this at? All because you mad at the daddy, you abandon yo kids? And Mr. King you knew and let your boys live with that trauma? Throw them both away! 🤬 I ain’t even mad at Kaanan, for not wanting anything to do with them peoples! Ughhh…… 😡 I knew something was up with Barry, but damn! He was a creep for real, for real! I wish Ella had gutted him like a damn fish! Whew! I was a bit upset with Ella for doubting her man without allowing him to have his say! But she got herself together. Mr. Eli got a lil crush on Kaleena huh? What will become of that I wonder? Will Keenan be a ho his whole life, or will someone turn him out? Enjoyed this read! 👍👍👍
I enjoyed Kaanan and Ella’s journey to a forever love. They definitely displayed all the elements of a great read with some eventful twist and turns! This is a page turner and I worth every moment of time I spent reading🥰. Beautiful story and great elements of reality we all can learn from.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars as usual. I enjoyed this book and it was a good length. From their first hook up to the end of the book,I was all in to Kaanan and Ella’s love story. Gabe and Eli were super protective over her but I liked that too💜
Whew this story kept me going! From start to finish, it was a crazy whirlwind love story. So glad that they figured it out and was able go live happily ever after
Mrs. Shanee, you have done it again! I always look forward to your masterpieces because I know it's going to be well-written, and dramatic with plot twists. It was ironic because as the age difference was mentioned throughout the book and the way the brothers were acting I thought it was going to be a huge gap. It was not bad as it could have been. Gabe was more concerned with Kaanan's past than his actual age. I loved how hard Kaanan fell for Rose. He made sure he loved and spoiled her properly. She did not have to want for anything. He also did not fumble her heart on purpose he stayed true to her. Kaanan and Rose completed each other. When life starts to "life-ing" he was still supportive of her dreams so she could accomplish them. He just had one request which was for Rose to be closer to him. My heart did break for the relationship he had with his mother. She did a number on him and Keenan. Even with her absence, they both still became quite successful men.
This is another marvelous read that keeps you engaged from the first to the last page. You will want to know how Kaanan and Rose's story unfolds. I knew from the beginning this story was going to yank me in because the cat was out of the bag early. So grab your copy today, you can't go wrong with Kay Shanee. She delivers each and every time. Mrs. Shanee, we have some new characters introduced to us. So now I am wondering if Keenan, Eli, Melisa, Dana, or Kaleena is going to tell their stories. I will be waiting for your next release.
This book was a full circle moment for me because “love’s sweet serenade” was the first book I read by this author and how I fell in love with her work. When I started the story I didn’t realize the connection then I had to stop and discover there was a re-release I had to catch up on to connect the story.
Absolutely loved Kaanan and Ella together. It was so beautiful and intentional. Through the whole ordeal with her brothers she stuck by her man without question. Even though they had a hiccup in their relationship, I’m glad they came back together without too much fuss.
We got a hint that something might be brewing with Eli and Kaleena so I hope we could get a story there. But I’d love to see Keenan find his forever first. And I’m putting my money on Dana or Melissa to take his player card.
This book gave all the right feels in a love story without all the toxicity. LOVE IT!
I really enjoyed this story and the easy vibe between Ella and Kaanan. Their union would typically be thought of as forbidden with their slight age difference and Kaanan being her brother’s best friend, but these two made their relationship work and stuck by each other when ish hit the fan when her brother found out about them. Ella showed her young age by trying to disappear after a misunderstanding and Kaanan showed his stubbornness with his parents and showed how his childhood trauma affected him in adulthood. I do wish the author would have gave more background into Ella and her siblings, but the lack of background did not take away from my enjoyment of the story. I highly recommend this story for a story filled with love and some interesting twists and turns.
Typical sneaking around with my best friend’s sister but they were so cute! Kaanan thought he was going to run Ella but nope! Ella may have been much younger than her crush, however she had him by the balls. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for her…include keeping their relationship a secret from her brother. As you know, didn’t go very well but all is well that ends well with love. Looking forward to hearing about the brothers Elli and Keenan!
I loved Kanaan and Ella's story so much. There were so many obstacles in place to separate them but they managed to get through them together. This read is spicyyy, they were not shy about getting it in and I loved it. I can't wait to read more from author Kay Shanee. I'm curious to see if Eli and Kaleena will get together.
Not sure how I feel with this one. I love the couple but Kannan was a bit much for me at times. However I get why he was that way due to his WEIRD and I do mean WEIRD parents. I need WAY more detail with that! Overall I loved how they stayed together but not rushing to hear a update unless it includes the parents. LOL
All I want is you is such an awesome read! Kaanan and Ella really have to fight for their ability to love each out out loud and without judgement. Kaanan was willing to risk it all, including his friendship with his closet friend. Kay wrote such a great book that was filled with so much emotion and laughter.
Nice and quick read. I really enjoyed the love that Kaanan and Ella's shared. A forbidden love that Kaanan was willing to lose his best friend over. Can't wait to read about the rest of the gang.
I really hate this rule that you can't date your siblings friends and I'm glad Kaanan did not care. This was a beautiful love story aside from all the drama. I hope we get to see what happens with the rest of the group. Great read
This was quick story to read. The characters showed growth after many disagreements, disappointments and fights. Ella and Kaanan’s story showed that despite it all they made it work.
Very good story. I enjoyed Ella and Kaanan’s love story. I was so mad at the twins parents. They were both beyond selfish and did t deserve forgiveness! I’m glad Ella and Kaanan got their HEA.
I loved it!!! If you didn’t read Loves Sweet Serenade, you really should!!! It’s connected and just as good! I loved Kaanan!! Real man s!@& for real!!! No spoilers ! Brotha Gabe I adore!!! Friends were priceless!
Kaanan was on his grown man business but Ella put that young thing on him and he almost lost his mind. I love how they didn't let her brother come between their love for each other. Ella age did come in to play with the Jessie situation, she was wrong and had to wear that. He was wrong also. But Love won in the end. I can't wait for the next book. Will Eli be next?
I loved this book it was absolutely amazing I loved how they loved each other something serious. I can't wait to read about Eli, Keenan and Kaleena. 5 stars
Ella and Kaanan were carrying on a secret relationship due to Kaanan being Ella brother's best friend and they knew he wouldn't approve. They couldn't keep their hands off of each other anytime they were alone. Both of them had nasty mouths and ways but they were also deeply in love. They were such an adorable couple and it was cute how they saved each other's name in their phones as My King and My Rose. Kaanan spoiled Ella making sure that she had all of her wants and needs provided for. There was a lot of emotion, love, laughter and drama contaoned in this book. I was glad Kaanan was able to overcome the trauma inflicted on him by his mother when he was a child with the help of therapy since it was still causing issues with him as an adult. I really hated what Ella went through in Paris. Even though Kaanan and Ella were going through a hiccup in their relationship when it happened, Kaanan dropped everything to be by her side which showed true love. This was such a good book that I can't wait to read books about the rest of the crew.
Kaanan was kind of annoying. His pride or whatever that couldn't understand why Gabe felt betrayed was astounding. Maybe because he didn't have a younger sister,l (that he knew of) but I feel like you don't have to, to understand why he handled it wrong.
The "your man" and "my man" was little overused. I also thought it was crass for Ella to refer to her private place as the p-word during a sexual assault in progress in the way she did.
It was also didn't like at the end of the book Kaanan said he admired her for how she juggled being a wife and mother and taking a year off to focus on HIM and the baby. Why would she need to take a year off to focus on him? Adjusting to motherhood I get but this book was leaning into traditional gender roles heavily and I didn't like that. The book literally ended with the her experiences making her into the woman she is today, which is Mrs. Kaanan King; she's a person outside of her relationship. It should've just ended with making her the person she is today, period.
This book was a beautiful read. I’ve always been a fan of stories where the brother’s bestfriend falls in love with his sister so off the rip this story had me. This was well written and the plot twists were twisting. Initially I thought it was a huge age gap but it was really small so while I understand Gabe being mad I was annoyed for the most part cause it was just a few years. I love how hard the characters fell for each other and how no matter what they didn’t let Gabe dictate their relationship. Now I just knew Dwight and Barrington was crazy as hell and I’m just happy that the characters survived their ordeal and were their for each other even when they weren’t on the best of terms. This book was very well thought out and written. I enjoyed it.
This was a good but nothing special. The execution was fine but it really wasn't memorable. It was a classic best friend's sister romance with MMC family issues. Honestly, I was more interested in the dynamic between the MMC and his mother, sister and father than I was in the love story between the two main characters. I thought the FMC's long distance schooling was an interesting element. Would've loved to see the couple be tempted/tested, struggle and grow together. Instead we saw both individuals face extreme situations while apart, not much growth then a resolution. MMC demonstrated much more growth when dealing with his mother.
The book was entertaining and it's a short read. 3.5 stars.
