I do find the reviews of 1 or 2 stars a bit harsh and would be interested to know why they rated it so low. A shame there isn't a review accompanying their ratings. For me it's a solid ***, just not quite to the level of my **** books. I actually found the notes at the end most interesting, outlining what was fiction and truth in the book and, with an upcoming trip already booked for Ghent, will be most interested to see the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb while there. I normally have more of a taste for a quirky tale but once I got into this book, did enjoy the story and I loved the historical parts
It was interesting but I felt like I’d read it before. After adding it here I see that I’ve also read another book, The Amber Room, by this author. I guess I won’t need to read more of his work.
