This is a collection of sweet Amish novellas that take place around Christmas and make a great holiday read. The first one is Christmas Eve Baby and takes place at the Shadow Lake Inn, the setting for the Shadow Lake series, where we visit with the three King sisters, their families and friends again and meet some new ones. A special Christmas Eve surprise baby is born there for a special blessing. There is also romance in the air that is festive and fun, especially in the snowy Christmas time. I enjoyed this story the best. The second story is Best Christmas Program Eve, and this is a visit back to the Green Valley Farmer's Market with new characters. This is a story of healing of grief and pain during the Christmas season that ends in the making of a new family. Sweet, lovely story. The third story is a new to me author and series, Loving Luke. This story is different from other Amish stories that I have read but is a nice read. The novella is a story about a mail order groom and what is the common thread between the characters is that they are victims of abuse. Touching holiday read about a new family with the hope of another new one, during the holiday season. I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions.
I loved the cute Christmassy cover on this book and the title made me want to pick up the book and read it. This book is a collection of Christmas stories written by three well known Authors. Lenora Worth, Rachel J. Good and Kelly Long. Two of the stories were filled with the Christmas Spirit while the third one touched my heart while I read the short story. I usually do not read novella collections but I felt drawn to this one because I liked the Authors who shared novellas in this delightful collection.
Christmas Eve Baby - Lenora Worth Lenora takes her readers back to the Shadow Lake Inn and they get to catch up with all the characters from that series in this beautiful Christmas story. Though the inn usually closes for Christmas Day they remain open due to the most unusual of circumstances. One of those circumstances would be a lone Amish lady struggling through a heavy snowfall to find the Inn. Lost and in labor the poor lady arrives at the inn. Readers are reminded that when Jesus was born there wasn’t room at the Inn but on this Christmas Eve there was indeed room at the Shadow Lake Inn for this half frozen mother to be !
Best Christmas Program- Rachel J. Good This story of a Christmas Romance begins when a grieving Amish Widower hired a young Amish women to work at his cheese booth at the Farmers Market. Rachel has also used some of her characters from one of her series in this novella. God uses both the woman and the man to fulfill his purposes when two homeless Kinner steal cheese from samples they have set out for their customers. Can something beautiful work out of a situation like this one during the Christmas season?
Loving Luke- Kelly Long Luke King needs work if he hopes to be able to support himself. He learns about an add in the newspaper where an Amish Widow is seeking a mail order Amish groom. He must be a gentleman and love Kinner. That was just two things that the position required. Luke decides to apply since he really hasn’t anywhere else to turn to. Though this story wasn’t really about Christmas it did happen in the winter time. Both the man and woman have had to endure abuse in their past and their lives have been scarred by it. Can there be a future for these two hurting people and the widow’s Kinner?
I recommend Amish Christmas Kinner to readers of Amish Fiction, Christian Fiction and fans of the Authors. This book is scheduled to be released on 9/26/23.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own.
I enjoyed all three stories in this anthology, but the first was my favourite. I enjoyed being back in Shadow Lake with the King family. All three sisters are now happily married and Colette, the youngest, is not sure if she wants to have children. After the birth of young Liam John on Christmas Eve at the Inn, she changes her mind. This was the longest story of the three in the book and although I thought if could have ended sooner, it a story of family, reconciliation, faith and forgiveness. The Best Christmas Program Ever is from another series I have dabbled in and I did recognize the setting and some characters. I loved the idea of an Amish family being a foster home and taking in children that are both Amish and Englisch. Both Hosea and Emily will dealing with hurt or grief, so this story was about New Beginnings and letting go. How love and children helped both Emily and Hosea do that is a great story. The final story, Loving Luke was short and sweet. Luke answers Grace's ad for a mail-order husband, not sure if he would be acceptable. He has a dubious past, but is ready to move forward in a positive way. With his brothers both mail order grooms before him, he had a family waiting for him. The love of family and God shone through in this story and all the others. If you enjoy Christian or Amish Fiction, then I recommend you pick up this anthology.
I received a free copy of, Amish Christmas Kinner by Lenora Worth: Rachel J. Good; Kelly Long, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The third story is Loving Luke by, Kelly Long. Recently widowed Grace needs help with her kinner, Luke King is not her prince charming, or is he. I loved all three of these stories, I just wish they were longer.
An enjoyable novella written around Christmas time that truly tugs at your heartstrings. These three well known authors keep you engaged from page one with their faith filled stories. This book does not have to be read around Christmas for you to find it delightful.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion. All words are my own.
Loved these stories . They made for A VERY GOOD READ. Each story was very good in its own way. Some of the authors are new to me and I will definitely read again. This book deserves a rating of 5.

A laboring mother-to-be shows up at the King sisters’ Shadow Lake Inn amid a snowstorm. If you like to read books about the amish. You will love this book. A good Christmas story. I recommend reading. CHRISTMAS EVE BABY by Lenora Worth is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lenora Worth . This is a delightful trio of Amish Christmas stories. Challenges and love await the families in each of these books.
Christmas Eve Baby gives us a mother in labor, lost in a snowstorm who shows up on the porch of an Amish Inn. Challenges and adventure await the reader as the family who runs the inn has to try to find the father who is also lost in the snowstorm, as well as wait on the laboring mother.
Best Christmas Program Ever tells us about two children who show up at the Green Valley Market dressed in rags and obviously hungry are caught snitching cheese and candy. Grace Fisher, who is a foster mom, sees them do this and after talking to them, decides to take action on their behalf. Grace, however, has just started a job in the booth at the market and is unsure how her new boss, Hosea, will respond to this situation. Hosea, however, has his own issues to overcome. You will want to read this to see how the situations are resolved for Grace, the two children and Hosea.
Loving Luke centers around widow, Grace Fisher, who has three children and a store to run on her own. She has sent a letter to the newspaper asking for an Amish Mail Order Groom, who can help her run the store, is gentle, and can help raise the children. Grace and her children are bogged down with emotional abuse received from her husband who passed away. Luke is just fresh out of prison and not sure how he will be received by Grace and the children. This is a sweet romance of forgiving, adjusting, and loving.
I recommend this sweet Christmas trilogy to those who enjoy Amish books and books centering around the Christmas season. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kensington Publshing and the opinions expressed are my own.
I would like to thank Kensington Books, Netgalley and the authors for the E ARC of this book. This anthology has 3 lovely stories which are set in various locations at and around Christmas time. Christmas Eve Baby by Lenora Worth – we meet three sisters who along with their parents and their husbands run Shadow Lake Inn. A young pregnant Amish lady arrives at the Inn in the middle of a really bad snow storm, she is supposed to meet her husband at the Inn. We learn more of the ladies story, also more of the family who run the Inn. I loved the characters and the setting of the Inn. I plan to read more by this author.
Best Christmas Program Ever by Rachel J. Good – we are back in the Green Valley Farmers Market. We meet Emily, who is helping at the cheese stall. She can be a bit clumsy but has a heart of gold and will work really hear. On her second day there she comes across two hungry children, who obviously need help. Emily has connections with child services, as she and her mother foster and adopt children. Can she help these two children and in doing so will she also help her co worker Hosea, who is grieving. I love the setting of the market, the characters were so well written. The two children tugged at the heart strings. A beautiful story and a great addition to the Green Valley Farmers Market series.
Loving Luke by Kelly Worth – Grace needs help to run the shop and just generally so she puts an advert in the paper for an Amish man to be her husband. Luke answers the advert and this is the story of the two of them plus Grace’s children forging a relationship. I loved this story, the author did a great job of portraying the difficulty that is had when a widower with children remarries – especially when the children haven’t had a chance to get to know the new person. I will be reading more by this author.
"Amish Christmas Kinner" is a three-in-one book by well-known Amish authors Lenora Worth, Rachel J. Good, and Kelly Long. The first story, "Christmas Eve Baby" is written by Lenora Worth and is the latest addition to the Shadow Lake Inn series. When a mother-to=be is found on the King sister's inn steps in the middle of a snowstorm and in labor, the women go into action.. Meanwhile, the men go out to try and find her husband on the bus. What will happen at the Shadow Lake Inn this Christmas to make it an extra special one?
"Best Christmas Program Ever" is by Rachel J. Good and is the second story in the book. This novel takes place in the beloved Green Valley Farmer's Market, where Emily Flaud is employed by Hosea King at his cheese stand. When two ragamuffin children steal some cheese and candy on her second day of work, Emily's heart goes out to them. What will happen to these poor children this Christmas?
The third novel in this book is "Loving Luke" by Kelly Long. Recently widowed Grace Fisher must be practical, so she puts a mail order groom ad in the paper. When Luke King shows up to answer the ad, she's rather dubious of the scruffy looking man. Will he really be a suitable companion to help her raise her three children?
I found these three stories to be a fun Christmas read. If you're an Amish fiction fan with a bent towards Christmas novels, you won't want to miss this book!
Thanks to Kensington Pubslishing and #NetGalley for the ARC e book. All opinions expressed herein are strictly my own.
This is a sweet trio of stories to enjoy during the holiday season. The cover of the book immediately caught my eye and seeing the author's names clinched it for me. I wanted to read this. Another draw is the subtitle of Amish Mail Order Grooms, that in itself is a magnet. Christmas Eve Baby by Lenora Worth adds a different twist to the no room at the inn story. The delightful King sisters and their husbands are part of a fast paced, sweet story which feels like a family reunion as a new baby is welcomed into the world. Best Christmas Program Ever by Rachel J. Good finds Emily Flaud working for a grump of a man at the Green Valley Farmer's Market. She has to put up with Hosea because she and her Mamm need income to take care of the foster children that they care for. When two obviously hungry and frightened children turn up at the market, she can tell something is wrong. She has to help while learning that their presence is breaking Hoseas's heart. He has a past that she needs to understand to get to his true heart. This is such an endearing story which deals with grief and hope. Loving Luke by Kelly Long rounds out this set of stories. I could have read an entire novel with these characters and storyline. Luke answers an ad for a mail order groom. He comes to the town of Blackberry Falls with secrets on his shoulders and a willingness to try for a different life. Grace Fisher feels she has no choice but to take on a husband after the death of her first one. The marriage was heartache and pain. This marriage of convenience was for someone to work alongside her while she provided a home for the man. This is a heart touching story. A secondary love story between schoolteacher Ann and younger man, Wander was a delightful and sometimes humorous addition. I loved it. I want to thank Kensington Books, the authors and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy of the book. It's an excellent collection to read during the holidays or any time. This is my own unsolicited opinion.
Amish Christmas Kinner is a collection of short stories that focus on children during the Christmas season. The first story by Lenora Worth continues the Shadow Lake series and centers around a young mother-to-be who ends up at Shadow Lake Inn as she goes into labor. The second story by Rachel J Good is about two homeless children who find a Christmas miracle at the Green Valley Farmer’s Market. The third story by Kelly Long is about a man who becomes a mail-order husband for a widow who needs help raising her children.
These stories are great for getting a person in the Christmas spirit, and what better way to show the spirit of Christmas than through children. The stories are all entertaining and uplifting. All three of the stories are good, but my favorite is the second story by Rachel J Good.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction or Amish stories. And although the book would be a great read any time of the year, it would be especially enjoyable around Christmas.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you Kensington Books for allowing me too read, Amish Christmas Kinner by Lenora Worth; Rachel J. Good; and Kelly Long. This collection contains three Amish Christmas novelettes. CHRISTMAS EVE BABY * Lenora Worth; BEST CHRISTMAS PROGRAM EVER * Rachel J. Good; and LOVING LUKE * Kelly Long.
Each of these ladies have a delightful, unique way of telling a story.
Lenora worth allows us to return to Shadow Lake Inn and glides smoothly into a new story of the King family as they help another stranger on Christmas Eve.
Rachel J. Good takes us back to the Green Valley Farmer’s Market, introducing two homeless children and a lonely store keeper.
Kelly Long shares with us in her truly unique telling of a sad young man and a broken family in need of love. She tells this story In her Ice Mountain style of story telling.
Each story is not only told well, but the characters are well developed, and the transition in the stories is seamless.
I was given an ARC by the publisher, but I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own. I recommend you order your copy of this 5-star collection today.
A lovely collection of tender inspirational romances with a sweet holiday theme. I enjoyed all of these novellas by different authors. The first one seemed to be an epilogue to the author's Shadow Lake series, but it was easy to pick up the storyline. They all had a generous spirit of giving, fitting perfectly with Christmas. I liked the idea of the story quilts. It made me curious to read the other books in her series. The second one was lovely, with a couple of lonely, hurting people who find a new love while helping a pair of neglected children. Their story was quite touching, especially Hosea's prayer for help. "All Hosea had to offer was weakness. But the Lord had promised His strength."
The last novella was my favorite, with a mail order groom and a widow. The theme of abuse was touched on sensitively, and a redemptive message added light to their story. I wish this one had been longer; it would make a good full length novel.
Overall an enjoyable read! 4 stars
( An ebook was provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.)
I enjoyed reading the three stories in this Christmas anthology. 'Christmas Eve Baby' is the longest of the three stories. The family running the inn takes in a woman in labor and rescues other travelers on a snowy Christmas Eve. I hadn't read the Shadow Lake Series, but the sweet story does recap the romances of the family's three sisters. I think that I would have enjoyed reading this story more if I had read the series. I enjoyed 'Best Christmas Program Ever' as it shows the start of a wonderful family. Hosea's father hires a new employee Emily who changes Hosea's life and rescues two runaway children. In 'Loving Luke', Grace advertises for an Amish mail order groom. Luke recently released from prison responds to her ad. Luke is a very sweet man and perfect for Grace and her family. There is also a secondary sweet romance. I enjoyed all three of these light stories. They are full of hope and perfect for the Christmas season. The stories are not as true to the Amish lifestyle and I had to suspend my disbelief at times. It's still a nice anthology.
Amish Christmas Kinner contains three novellas by Lenora Worth, Rachel J. Good, and Kelly Long. I enjoyed reading the three sweet Amish stories. The three tales are Christmas Eve Baby by Lenora Worth (The Shadow Lake series), Best Christmas Program Ever by Lenora Worth (Surprised by Love series), and Loving Luke by Kelly Long (The Amish Mail Order Grooms series). I thought all three were well-written with steady pacing. They are stories of romance and faith. We get to see how the Amish celebrate Christmas. I like their holiday traditions and how the holidays center around family. I did feel that Christmas Eve Baby was a tad long (when you begin to wonder if it will ever end, you know it is too long). Forgiveness, new beginnings, letting go, family, and faith are the themes. Best Christmas Program is the story that really tugged at my heartstrings. While each novella is part of a series, each one can be read on its own. Amish Christmas Kinner is a collection of stories that can be read at Christmas or anytime of the year. This is a heartwarming anthology.
I really enjoyed these quick stories, and for some I have read the back stories, but there is a lot of information given, and you won't be lost.
From a snow storm and an impending birth of a new baby, and we get to see the true spirit of Christmas come alive and shared!
The second story shows the love of innocent little ones, and overcoming tremendous grief. This one will warm your heart, and in the end I wanted to continue on in their lives!
The third story features a mail order groom, and does touch on abuse. There is a side story of a delightful Amish man who wants a woman a bit older, and you get to enjoy his courting techniques.
These reads do feature children, and they pull you into each of the books!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.
Looking for a collection of short Christmas stories that bring the touches of hope and forgiveness to families. These might be three short stories you'll enjoy. Each family has challenges, sorrows, and good times to share and are written by Lenora Worth, Rachel J. Good and Kelly Long. Lenora's tale of a pregnant Amish woman in a snow storm stumblilng upon Shadow Lake Inn in time to birth her baby, while a stranded busload arrives for shelter over Christmas at the Inn, show's how a community of strangers can find room in their hearts to bring the Christmas spirit and love to all. Kelly Long's story is short, sweet, and tender about brothers who were abused by their father, finding love, forgiveness and contentment while sharing their secrets with three women who advertised in the newspaper for "Groom Wanted...."
A cute and fun read that everyone will enjoy! Three short stories with a little something for everyone. I really enjoyed looking into the lives of the Amish and learning about their Christmas traditions. I also learned a thing or two. The cover of this book is adorable and very inviting! I am recommending this book! 5 stars for 3 well written short stories and for making me want more. It's the only thing I don't like about short stories! My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A cute collection of Christmas stories which bring families together. Christmas is a magical time of the year while children bring a new prospective to the story. Lenora Worth, Rachel Good and Kelly Long are among the best authors who spins tales which draw the reader. Many times at the end the reader feels like they are leaving new friends when they finish the story. So curl up with a good blanket and enjoy the magic of the Christmas season. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
The cover of this book is very appealing, and I was immediately drawn to it. This book is by 3 popular authors of Amish fiction and each of the 3 stories are novella length. The stories are full of faith and feel-good Christmas stories. These stories feature children and show the importance of family especially during the holiday season when many feel so alone. These are heartwarming and will touch your soul during this holiday season.
Pub Date: 26 Sep 2023 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
inglese, 3 storie ambientate nel periodo natalizio: a) Christmas eve baby - Lenora Worth "Love would Always win over evil. That much they knew. Christmas was certainly a testament to the power of love" durante una tempesta di neve accadono eventi al Shadow Lake Inn. b) Best Christmas program ever - Rachel J Good "That word cut into him. He was alone, not only at work, but in life" il protagonista Hosea perde l'intera famiglia.. c) Loving Luke - Kelly Long "She was trying to manage her three kinner and the running of the general store for the Amisch community of Blackberry Falls"
This novel was well written and consists of three separate novellas by wonderful artists. Each dealt with delicate topics that affect us all from family dramas to abuse. They were insightful and you rooted for each character's growth and ultimately their personal acknowledgements of 'this was not my fault.' Christmas is the time to reflect on He Who Saves and remember that He came for these reasons and to remind all of His love. Frankly, I would enjoy seeing these as movies. I highly recommend this Christmas read!
This is a fun series of novellas set during the Christmas season and centered around children. Each heartfelt story has a good message. These are heartwarming stories about love, family, faith and second chances. Good reads. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Such a delightful reading experience. These three short stories are just what is needed to warm a persons soul. I enjoyed all three of them and loved the uplifting message that they provided.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy. I highly recommend.
I wanted to read this book because of the story by Lenora Worth. The two stories following were definitely a wonderful bonus and I found two new authors to follow. Recommend these stories! The characters are easy to get attached to and the storyline were very good and enjoyable.
Three uplifting stories of Amish families at the Christmas season. Sweet feel good stories. All the authors were new to me and I look forward to reading more by them.
