We are witnessing the most important IT revolution since the 1960 the incorporation of quantum computing in a multitude of different economics and financial services, chemistry, medicine and health, logistics, energy, agriculture, etc. Now, for quantum applications to be really useful, they must be developed according to Software Engineering best practices ensuring their quality, and using a platform that insulates software engineers from implementation details, offering them the right support, such as QuantumPath®.
In 2018 we, the editors of the book, created a working group that resulted in 2019 in a joint unit (called "aQuantum") for research, development, consulting and services in the fields of quantum software engineering and programming, by Alhambra IT and the Alarcos Group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). aQuantum follows a model of co-experimentation and co-production between industry and academia that has allowed the development of models, techniques and R&D projects in the field of quantum software, as well as numerous seminars and courses on this topic.
Precisely within the mission of quantum literacy that we set ourselves since our inception and in order to transmit the lessons and knowledge acquired in these years, we have published this book that we hope can contribute to the production of quantum software with sufficient quality and productivity, which is the cornerstone for the dissemination of quantum computing.
