This great book deserves 6 stars!
This is an awesome, carefully researched, well-footnoted treasure of a book! The author covers the subject extremely well. As a fellow animal lover (with four cats and a dog), I think she does a great job of explaining everything about this hugely important topic. It includes everything you may need to know about fostering dogs, and why the role of offering your home as a foster home to shelter dogs is essential to help reduce euthanasia. My favorite part is the wealth of fictional stories used to illuminate the facts, and the dog photos presented apparently to light up our hearts. This is written by a dog fostering veteran, and she does not sugar coat the downsides, including perhaps the main one -- how hard it is to give your fostered dogs up to their forever home.

Ideal guide for new dog foster parents
This book took me on a full journey, from the selection stage, then foster, to the adoption process. The language used throughout the book was simple and relaxed, making it easy to follow and understand, even for 1st time foster dog parents. I particularly appreciated the multiple case study stories and the Q &A sections. The multiple stories were very entertaining to read. The book also looks at common challenges and how to overcome them, to ensure a smoother transition for the dog into their "forever home".
This book is a must read for anyone stepping into the world of dog fostering.

I loved this book! This quote sums up what this book accomplishes in a nutshell: "Your foster went from a smelly, unneutered, outside dog who was afraid of the sprinklers to a handsome, confident, family dog who is ready to take on the world." Many individuals have a genuine desire to help homeless dogs, yet don't know where to begin or how to truly make a difference. This book encompasses essential aspects such as finding the right organization, selecting a suitable dog, successfully welcoming the dog into your home, providing effective training, advocating for the rescue dog, and engaging in the crucial adoption meet and greet process.

An excellent resource for people considering or just beginning a path into dog rescue, specifically fostering a dog. This book is simple, straightforward and provides good advice for just about every aspect of fostering a dog. And this book is a fast read, too!
There are more than a few typos in this book and anyone considering this book should know that there's no 'story' to it — this book is 'just the facts'.
I'd recommend this to anyone thinking about fostering a dog or even volunteering for a dog rescue group or at an animal shelter. This book is packed with great information.

Well-written, carefully researched
Such a well-written, carefully researched book! I’m a dog lover. The author does a great job of explaining all the ins and outs of caring for rescued dogs before they are re-homed. I especially love the case studies and all those adorable dog pictures.
