You should see this book as a celebration of the resilience, creativity, and wisdom of Black people and their ancestors, and a reminder of the importance of preserving and sharing these stories for generations to come. Whether you're looking for tales of adventure, humor, or wisdom, this has something for everyone. This book is a timeless and inspiring tribute to the enduring power of Black storytelling.
short... overly simplified (think for slowish adhd preschooler in length and content). you'll need to read a bunch of these stories to get them to sleep, or plus a shot of "Benadryl". A brightish kid will pepper you with WHYs and BUTs, forcing you to take a few shots before bed...
i.e. some rando creature, complete stranger, told one person some rule, the person didnt follow this arbitrary rule so something bad happened... thru coincidence or miracle the bad was resolved... the person realized to heed rando complete stranger rules, which make life perfect... The end.
or... the riddle: something you own, others use but you never use--punch line, your name. hmm, if YOU dont use your name to introduce yourself at some point, then how would they know it in first place???? or sign your hand writing homework...
is there a way for preschool simple BUT real smarts and cleverness???
This book was extremely disappointing. I felt like the stories were underdeveloped yet these are stories that have been passed down through the years. If they were this bad, they wouldn’t have been passed out so obviously the author oversimplified them leaving out much of the mystique and what makes it interesting.the reason I did not give it. One star was because he gave me a list of stories and folklore that I can go find somewhere else. Thank you for the list of stories that are important to the history of African folk tales.
Each story was short and meaningful. I found it interesting that it was Black american even though they originated from slaves that came from Africa. Enjoyed the audio.
