Zoom in. Vivienne Whittemore has the perfect old-money Hollywood lifestyle. She’s a blossoming actress in her prime with a husband widely regarded as one of the best screenwriters in the business. Life is good. The recently married starlet can’t wait to celebrate her first anniversary happily married to the man of her dreams. Of course, the only problem with dreams is that you eventually wake up.
The newlyweds sneak away to a cabin in Northern California to escape the prying tabloids. Before long, a freak snowstorm pummels Yosemite National Park and leaves the honeymoon party indefinitely stranded in the middle of the forest with limited power and dwindling supplies. Careful, the wildlife and unforgiving cold are the least of the perils lurking in the mountains. In order to survive, Vivienne must take on the most challenging role of her life, a dotting wife.

This book came with mixed and few reviews- but I enjoyed it. It’s about a young lady who wants more than anything to be the “it girl” in Hollywood & all she’ll do to get there. It’s also about so much more… but that’s the beginning theme that is carried throughout. It turns from a drama to a triller about 2/3 of the way through, and I enjoyed that as well! I went into reading it mostly blind- so I didn’t have a lot of expectations. It’s a quick read. It was published in March of this year- so still newish.
Finally a book that got me out of my reading slump! I enjoyed this book immensely, it had a very captivating storyline and an extremely interesting fmc. Vivienne, a rising starlet who came from nowhere and strived to have her face everywhere hooked me from the first page. The plot is engaging and I couldn't put the book down, so much so that I was startled when I reached the ending. Vivienne celebrates her first marriage anniversary in a snowy cabin, unfortunately she cant shake off the strange feeling in her gut. Later on, the reason behind her worry is revealed when someone attempts to murder her (will not go into too much detail so l dont spoil it). The story fits into the mystery action fiction genre, which is one of my favorites. It's my first book of this author's and I was surprised by how much I liked it, so I'll definitely have to check out her other works. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick fun read with a light touch of mystery and some humor!

Twisted and sprinkled with dark humor. I loved Camille Cabrera's take on Hollywood! She writes like she's lived it 100 times over in her sleep. I didn't see the end of the book coming! Witty, creative, and fun. Will there be a sequel?
"The First Paper Cut: An Anniversary to Die For" Review by Camille Cabrera “The First Paper Cut: An Anniversary to Die For” is such an exciting novel that combines drama and suspense elegantly. At first glance, the plot revolves around a couple observing anniversaries in what appears to be love, success and perfect togetherness. But, as the night wears on, the cracks in their imagined ideal life become evident in quick succession, making for an even more engaging story with twists one does not see coming. The initial impression while reading the book is some effortless romantic drama but about two-thirds in, the book makes a complete turn into what is known as the suspense thriller. This turn of events made me happy since it brought forth more suspense and many unknowns that kept me busy. Central to this is the theme of lies and truths that surround their love exposing the reader to the issues of trust. I also liked the way the author impeccably revealed the complexities of the characters by showing their internal conflicts through a glimpse at their facades. The tension-filled emotions in the fiction induced the reader to remain fascinated with Cabrera’s writing which was clear, concise and accurate. She navigates the action well so as to maintain the characters and support the development of the story. As I was reading, I began to wonder about the relationships between the characters, which was somehow suspicious. As of March of this year, The First Paper Cut was a relatively new work and has a fast boring read. I opened the book without much information and my expectations in them were quite low which turned out to be to my advantage. This allows me to appreciate all kinds of surprises that come with the flow. For all those who are in search of a drama cum thriller, this particular one will not disappoint you. Overall, Cabrera tells a story that will move many readers, especially those who like psychological thrillers, which is why this book is essential for anybody in search of an extraordinary plot turning around the thin line between love and betrayal. Rating: 4.5/5
Definitely engaging. Allistair, the brother was SUS from the start, I mean-- Vivienne and Cecilio agreed to bring him to their honeymoon? I kinda expect the twist.

I realised I was 65% through the book and nothing had really happened. There was little build up or anything that put you on the edge of your seat. I only finished it because I was so far through.
Author caught my attention from the start. Cabrera mixes dark subjects with black humor to make a thrilling murder mystery. It was nice to read such perfectly crafted descriptions of places like Yosemite. It almost felt like I was there!
