I love this second book in the spinoff of the Winter Black series. Autumn Trent is terrific, with a character that easily carries this series. Always a treat to have the fabulous Winter Black, along with the gang of other FBI agents, backing up Autumn. Excellent series so far. ;)

“This is a spinoff of the Winter Black series and is a riveting psychological murder mystery that continues where Winter’s End left off, and will make you watch what you say behind your closed doors.”

Autumn's Break is Book Two in the Autumn Trent Series by Mary Stone. This series is a gripping blend of psychological suspense, crime & investigation, and deeply human storytelling. We follow FBI Special Agent and forensic psychologist Autumn Trent, a woman whose own traumatic past fuels her relentless pursuit of justice.
Ms. Stone cleverly weaves high-stakes criminal cases with plenty of emotional depth. Autumn isn’t just a crime solver; she’s a survivor who is navigating grief, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human behavior. Each book layers intense investigations with more personal stakes, making us (readers) feel both the adrenaline of the chase as well as the weight of the consequences.
Ms. Stone’s villains are chillingly believable, and the psychological profiling elements also added a fascinating dimension for us readers who enjoy the ‘why’ behind the crime as much as the ‘who’.
Fans of character-driven thrillers will appreciate how Autumn’s relationships - with colleagues, friends, and even antagonists - evolve across the series, giving it a strong emotional core.
Perfect for readers who enjoy crime thrillers with a smart, resilient heroine and a mix of heart-pounding action and psychological intrigue.
Happy Reading…

Meine Bewertung: 10/10 Punkte.

In this second book in the series Mary Stone continues to draw you into the life of the main character, Autumn Trent, and takes you through many twists and turns. Autumn is trying to determine if her friend's brother, Justin, is competent to stand trial. Justin is a serial killer who has a very very dark past and he is quite taken with Autumn. Autumn has her own past but is she taken with Justin? Maybe yes and maybe now? Another serial killer comes into play in this book. A young woman who preys on older men. Autumn and her crew must try to find her. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat! I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to number 3 in this series about Autumn Trent!!

Forensic and criminal psychologist Dr. Autumn Trent hasn’t had time to unpack her bag before she’s asked to join the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Team on another case. This time, she and the team head north, where a web of deceit and murder is being spun.

Up the east coast, wealthy widowers make easy targets for a team of black widows wishing to feast on juicy bank accounts. But in Passavant Hills, Pennsylvania, money isn’t the only thing one of their spiders desires. Humiliation, revenge, and human blood is on her menu.

Armed with fleeting clues as the number of victims pile up, Autumn is sure of only one thing...unless she and the team can stop her, their spider will suck her sweethearts fatally dry.

And this time, as the team goes undercover, it could be one of their own.

Autumn Trent, soon to be the newest member of the FBI at Quantico has just finished one assignment and is being hurried off to a new one in Pennsylvania. There has been a rash of men whose wives have died within the past year and have been taken for a lot of money. Late some of these men have been brutally murdered and the FBI has been called in to help. Winter, Autumn and Aiden put themselves into the dating game and locate 3 sisters. Does 1,2,or 3 of these girls have anything to do with the case, are they truly "Black Spiders"? This was one of those books you couldn't lay down. Enjoy!!

Pregnant women are disappearing and the only trace of them is one hand found in a gator filled swamp! Can the team catch this diabolical killer before more women and their unborn babies disappear? The whole team will be going with her as the FBI Investigates the missing moms-to-be. Read this outstanding book to find the answers to these questions and more. Highly recommended. J

Fantastic Reading

I love the Autumn Trent series. Autumn’s Break is book two in the series. I was hooked on this series after reading Autumn’s Game. Autumn’s Break’s story line continues to follow up on Winter Black’s brother, Justin, along with introducing a new serial killer. There is suspense, drama, some horror and a little comic relief. Mary Stone is an excellent writer and has a way of drawing you into the story. I read every page and didn’t fast forward through any of the chapters which I have done with other books.

I recommend reading the Autumn Trent series as well as the Winter Black series.

Said the spider to the fly

The little song the sisters keep singing throughout the book has more than one meaning. Their father was a horrible ma who took care of himself, never his three daughters. He promised and promised and promised but daddy dearest couldn't love anyone but himself. The sisters started a little business of speed matchmaking and the idea was lovely. The business hooked them up Sith old, lonely super rich men. The ladies made plans and rules. One deviates from what the three started the project for. To take care of themselves. Nothing ever works as it should.

Worth the read!

I must admit, the shifting of perspective/POV seemed odd when I read the first book of this series, but it grew on me. By the time I was reading this book, I looked forward to that shift into the darker, deeper psyche of the primary antagonist. This was a good read. When you look forward to the next book in the series, whether written or not, you know the author has done their job to hook you into their series. Mary Stone has done just that. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Autumn’s Break

I am loving every book in the Autumn Trent series so far. Autumn’s Break is about three sisters who are scamming rich older men out of their life savings. One sister loses touch with reality when she decides men are being unfaithful to their dead wives. She takes more than their money. This is Autumn’s first official case as part of the Behavioral Analysts Unit of the FBI. She is learning quickly how to be a good agent. Thank you Mary Stone for another great read.

Meh

## Just meh. I was a bit disappointed in this book. It dragged on and on. I kept putting it down to do more interesting things which attests to the quality of the story, or lack there of. It seemed to me that Winter was the main character, even though Autumn is supposedly the lead. And Winter & Autumn? Really? I would've liked Aiden, except he had been sleeping with one of his teammates who was also a subordinate. Bleh, lost respect for him right there. The extra star was for the humor that was thrown in. Sorry, I can't really recommend this one.

I find that I cannot put this series down. I started with the first Winter Black book and have continued reading the series one book after another. Autumn is working her second case with the FBI team since graduating. She and the team investigate a series of widowers being taken for their money and some giving up their lives. The story is fast paced. The characters are engaging. The mood is dark partly because of the crime and partly because the characters have dark pasts. I would recommend this book .

Another impressive page turner by Mary Stone! Autumn's Break is a second book in the series. It starts with Autumn working with Justin Black, a criminal and her friend Winter's brother, to figure out if he's competent enough to stand trial. As the novel develops, another set of deranged criminals are being chased by the FBI team which includes Autumn. Mary Stone is superb in her development of characters who continue to evolve. She makes you love them, quirks and all. The case involves wealthy older men who are recently widowed seeking love then being killed. They seem to be dropping like flies. The guilty seem to be a suspect who is purposely targeting these men and "has a message for them". The questions are who is she, is she working alone and why is she killing these men now? The novel keeps you interested and moves at a perfect pace. Of course, you are left with questions at the end that set up for a possible 3rd novel. Love this author and her writing style! Always leaves you wanting more. I received this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Wow, this is an incredible next book I just couldn’t put it down.
Autumn is still trying to figure out Winter’s brother Justin and if he playing her? Will she switch jobs and work for the FBI? For now she is going to help on a case with Aiden and the whole team. Older men are being scammed out of their money but could they also be losing their lives? It’s up to everyone to figure this out before more damage is done.

Book 2 in the Autumn Trent series is another winner. I didn’t think this series would be as good as the Winter Black series, but I was wrong. I love that the whole gang is in this series, also. Again, there’s mystery, suspense, and intrigue. I especially enjoyed the scene where Aiden was on his date. That was so much fun. This series is not to be missed. I love it. Have to say, I love this author. Her stories keep you on the edge of your seat. This is book 2 in the Autumn Trent series and it doesn’t disappoint. The plot has suspense, lots of twists and turns, the introduction of a new serial killer, and a touch of comic relief to give you a few minutes of rest before the roller coaster of thrills begins again. Excellent relative characters. I highly recommend this book, and all her books, to everyone.

Being a part of the FBI can be dangerous

Autumn gets added to the latest case due the need for her profiling abilities and this case is a real tough case. Older men who start dating soon after their wives have died are targeted. For their money and some for their lives. This time the group is all hands on deck to solve a very nasty case. Fast paced and has some things you aren't expecting. Great read

FITS LIKE A WARM GLOVE ON A COLD DAY!

This book, like all the others before it in the series is like a well fitted chapter in a long story. I love the way each book leaves you satisfied with the ending, but gives you just enough of what the next book will be about to keep you interested. Anyone interested in this kind of mystery should read these books. Can’t find any cause for anything less than a 5 star rating.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

I am having the best time with Autumn's story! I finished this one in record time. I enjoyed her development, Aiden's vulnerability (finally) and her and Winter's sisterhood. The comical moments were a huge bonus and I lol a few times. The storyline was very rich and filled with non-stop twists and turns. I definitely won't be putting this series to rest any time soon! Kudos to Mary Stone! Keep them coming!

Autumn's Break: Autumn Trent Series is book 11 of Mary Stone's Winter Black FBI Mysteries series. Autumn is pulled into another case by her friends at the FBI. This book is full of suspense and intriguing twist and turns. Mrs Stone's ability to develop her characters and pull her readers into their stories is truly remarkable. If you are a fan of murder mysteries and understanding the why of it all this series is definitely for you.
