PRAISE FOR BITTER FROST SERIES(tm)

"Loved this book and am so excited to see what happens in the next one. I have a feeling that Mrs. Gow will be the next it author." - Amanda Drost, Broken Arrow

"This is my first novel by Kailin Gow and I promise it won't be the last! She has a wonderful way of capturing the reader from the start and easily transports them to an interesting and fascinating world of Feyland where fairies, pixies and werewolves exist – a beautiful place where magic is normal and necessary, and a place where humans normally cannot survive." - Theresa, Just One More Paragraph

"OMG...this series just keeps getting better! I absolutely love this series. I love reading Kailin's books." – Jamie Johnson, Fantasy Book Chick blog

"I love Kailin Gows books and Frost Kisses is no exception. She is an amazing author who can weave her magic so throughly that you feel as if you are there." - Jessica Bolton, Book Rock Goddess

"I have to give the author credit – Love Triangle – very different. What I mean by that – not typical. The author makes it where it will just shock the sh*t out of you. I can't really explain it with out giving it away. The only hint I can give is that it doesn't go down the way traditional love triangles go. I think the author was very bold and for that, she made me a fan." - Sunny

"This needs to be a TV or movie series. I love books and this one affected me so much! The story makes you feel like your in the series. I would watch this any day!" - Christina Rossner

What can I say about a book that has brought some emotions of mine up to surface? Forever Frost is the kind of book that makes you think of your own relationships, of tender memories, of things warm and safe, especially the relationship you have with your mother. Breena, has entered Feyland, and is fast becoming the most powerful fairy in Feyland. Her power doesn't necessarily come in the form of magic (although she now has considerable ability as a fairy hybrid), but it comes from her ability to reason, to negotiate, to use her wits. Breena is a strong young woman whom teen girls can find positive qualities to model. She does come into her own in Forever Frost, and the ending is a shocker.

The women in Forever Frost make an interesting study in female strength. I enjoyed Bitter Frost and Forever Frost is the perfect second book in the Frost series. I'm looking forward to downloading discussion questions for this book, too.

If you are looking for an enjoyable read, the Frost series fits that bill. If you are looking for a book that your class or bookclub can discuss deeply, the Frost series is truly that, too.

The romance is clean (lots of kissing) and the story is lyrical so this book is appropriate for age 13 and up.

I'm glad I waited to read Forever Frost right after reading Bitter Frost. I'm one of those impatient types who has to know what happens next and the suspense of waiting is too much. In Bitter Frost, the world of Feyland is set up so you understand the politics between Winter and Summer fairies, the Pixies, and how Breena fits in. She's a hybrid human fairy who is rare and the strongest fairy in Feyland. See in Gow's version of human and fairy hybrids, they are stronger because of the laws of survival. Any human who can survive a fairy kiss without going mad and who goes on to bear a hybrid human fairy is among the strongest of humans. Breena is the daughter of a very strong human who is strong because of her love for Breena's father, the Summer King. I must say I am so delighted in Book 2!!! We get to meet Breena's mother and even her long-lost father. The twists and turns were great and unexpected. Something is up with the Summer Queen. The Winter Queen is not what you expected too. Prince Kian's sister Shasta also brings a very interesting twist to the story. Breena is reunited with someone I really love.

I loved Bitter Frost. Forever Frost is one excellent follow-up to Bitter Frost, and I genuinely think Forever Frost is much better. I can see these characters continuing on in further books.

Warning: The ending may have you heartbroken. I cried thinking how difficult it must be for Breena.

Of course I'm rating this a five. Again, since I see all the authors on Goodreads rate their own books just like the President is entitled to vote for himself, I'm voting this a five. I love and believe in this series and will continue with it for my readers (to those who vocalize their thoughts publicly through reviews on these books and those who don't write reviews, but do write me letters and emails telling me how much they enjoy this series.)

The first book was so good. It's rare to find a young adult paranormal book series, especially fairy books, with a positive message. Breena is a role model for girls in many many ways. I can't wait for Book 2 to find out what happens to Breena, Logan, and Kian!

I highly recommend this series for presenting a cast of amazing women and the men who loved them. Forever Frost goes further into the Winter fairies lore, especially since we meet the Kian's mother, the Winter Queen and sister Shasta. The characterization in this series is top-notched, through dialogue, interaction, action, we learn who Shasta is. We learn about the Queens and even Raine, Breena's mother. Nothing is as it seems. While we think the Winter Queen can be cruel, we also learn she can be kind. The Summer Queen has made choices, too. Raine has, too. Forever Frost is full of action and romance, but the interaction, the reveal of each main characters' background and the people or fairy relationship makes this book and series warm and drew me in emotionally. I look forward to reading Silver Frost.

Casual readers will enjoy this series just as much as sophisticated readers. The beauty of this seemingly simplistic book, is it is not simple at all, but a complex tale of politics, relationships, and wits. The cast of characters are solid well-drawn characters, you know when they are out-of-character. Of course I love these characters and the magical world they live in. Gow has managed to entertain and moved me to experience this fantasy world, if for but a day. I find myself re-reading these books over and over again. That says a lot for this English Lit graduate student.

This book is so good. The women in Forever Frost are the focus here with a story that just keeps getting better and better as new revelations are revealed about the characters along the way. Each one of them, from the Winter Queen to the Summer Queen, Kian's sister Shasta to Breena's mother have a backstory which you can appreciate. Kian shows a softer side, and Logan makes my Most Wanted As a Boyfriend list. The ending is incredible.

If you've read Bitter Frost, Forever Frost is a must read. Breena is an incredible heroine. She strikes a deal with the Summer Queen that will have you amazed at her bravery. The women in Forever Frost take center stage. It's a real treat to meet Breena's father, too. And Logan fans will love him even more. Sigh.

Breena's story continues in the second installment by Kailin Gow. Forever Frost is magical and intriguing.

***May Contain Spoilers***

Breena is now back in the summer court with the Queen, waiting for the moment when she can see Kian once again, stricken with the grief of Logan's death and the hopes of seeing her mother again. Breena knows she can't stay in Faeryland and it upsets her, she has fallen for it and everything around her. The Summer Queen's hatred towards her and her mother is so great that she doesn't want to risk her anger. After escaping the Pixie King Breena was taken to the summer court and now awaits the hostage exchange between the winter princess and her mother who is being held captive by the winter court and Kian. Breena offers to make the exchange herself but she soon realizes things wont be as easy as she thought they'd be. With the Pixie King still out to get her and the stress of getting her mother back, Breena has her work cut out for her. Breena must travel to the Winter Court with Shasta the Winter Princess to get her mother back and then leave Faeryland to please the Summer Queen. If only it were that easy. With a growing list of enemies Breena must find a way to stay safe and help the ones she loves.
When shocking news come to her she must stray from her path to help a fallen friend. Torn between two loves and struck with the truth of her family, Breena is pulled into political drama.
Forever Frost is a fast paced sequel that leaves you hanging on for dear life when the ending hits you. Unexpected twists and turns, all you can do is hold your breath and wait for the ride to end.

Kailin Gow has done a fantastic job and I can't wait to see where Breena's story will take me next.

Happy Reading

I fell in love with the characters even more as I continued reading about Breena's adventures in Feyland. Her magical powers strengthen as well as her love for Kian. And Logan, oh my. He is the sweet, best friend that all gals wish to have, if we don't have him already. But how can an eternal bond be broken in Felyand? It cannot, so my heart ached for Logan as he tried to step in and be Breena's champion.

It was awesome to see Breena come into her own, fighting off pixies, the Pixie King, saving her boys time and time again. Kailin did an amazing job with the sequel to Bitter Frost. These books are TOO short. I wish they would go on a bit longer! :)

My heart did "ginormous" leaps of enchanted joy as Breena realized that she wants, needs to be with Kian. I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear. That was excruciatingly painful to see Kian hurting when he saw Breena with Logan at the Winter Queen's ball.

Long live the Summer Queen!! And OMG, the cliffhanger left my jaw hanging! Thank goodness I already have Silver Frost in my Kindle! Excellent read!!

I am so glad that the second book in Kailin Gow's Frost Series was just as good as the first.
And while I do still see a lot of similarities between it and the Need and Iron Fey series, I still think this series holds its own.
It has a little bit of everything you could want in a good fey series. Fairies, both good and bad. Politics, two kingdoms fighting, adventure, forbidden love, hate, envy, jealously, longing, lust, betrayal, deceit, secrets and redemption.
This series is pretty well written and really fast reads at just under 300 pages.
This is definitely a series that you should read if you are just starting out in the world of fey and want something that will keep you interested and leave you wanting more.

pure poison i tell you..

how delightful this book is... image traveling through a dark tunnel and only glimpses of lighting sparking through the darkness as a strobe light as you speed through the unknown terrain. And with every light that flashes by a new detail to the tunnel is revealed. unimaginable structures of beauty, life, decay and death.

thats what the 2nd book to this series is like for me...

theres always so much going on that it never seems like its going to end, you're holding your breath through one scene and just when you're about to release your breath and feel calm, to be relax and safe, the story picks up again and your off racing for your life again.
i love it. unlike so many novels, this one doesnt just have one climax, it has many.

Forever Frost
By
Kailin Gow

This book is the continuation of Bitter Frost. Breena, formerly an ordinary 16 year old human, finds out that her father is a fairy/faerie. She lives in Oregon but if you go sort of past the woods and around the corner from her town you are sort of automatically in Feyland or Fairyland…home of the Fae, Pixies, Magic, and Kingdoms. Breena has to make an exchange of Shasta…a princess from the Winter Kingdom. The exchange involves Breena’s mother who is being held prisoner in the Winter Kingdom. The exchange begins in a good way but before reaching the Winter Kingdom, Shasta tries to run away back to the Summer Kingdom. It appears as though she is in love with a fairy knight named Rodney. He is from the Summer Kingdom and cannot ever be with Shasta…oh me,oh my…
Interesting fact about Rodney and Shasta…they apparently sneak into Oregon to buy spices and take cooking lessons. In Fairyland women are not allowed to cook. Men cook and women forge…whatever that means. Shasta loves to cook but this can never happen in Fairyland. Thus the sneaking. Anyway… Breena convinces Shasta that she has to come with her to make the exchange. However, along the way, Breena learns that her best friend Logan is still alive. In the first book we find out that Logan is a shifter or werewolf. He has been captured and detained by some very bad pixies. He has been tortured and punished and Breena is determined to free him. In order to do that she must once again face Delano…the evil pixie King… who still really wants to marry her so that he can create a race of evil pixiefairyhuman whatevers…

So…there is a rescue and a ball and a reunion, an almost execution and a meeting with an unknown father…and an ending that again demands you find out what will happen next by reading Book Three in this series. Whew…normally I would do that but I think I need a short break from these characters. The only character I really liked was Logan…and he sort of gets the short end of everything in this book. I believe I will amend that…I like Breena as human but not as a fairy princess…she is kind of arrogant and annoying when in princess mode. And the back and forth between Kian and Logan was really getting on my nerves.

I thought I would love this book much more than I did. It was good but not wonderfully amazing or unputdownable. It was full of beautifully descriptive words but I just couldn’t fall in love with the story…I just wanted to finish this book so I could get on with something else.

I am so hooked on this series!! I loved this book just as much as the 1st book. I loved reading more about the Characters from both the Winter and Summer Kingdoms. Shasta is such a great character, along with Rodney, the winter knights and the even the winter queen. It was fun to read the back story of Raine, Breena's mother. It was interesting how it was her choice to be banished to the mortal realm and how good of friends she is with the Winter Queen. Raine still cares about Frank Foxflame, the king of the Summer Kingdom for the fact that he is so kind and how he would do anything for his daughter and her mother, since he is still in love with her. I loved Logan and Kian even more in this book. I am now torn between who Breena should be with, they are both such amazing characters. Normally I don't get that torn between the two love interests, but I am now. I loved the winter kingdom ball such a great part!! The parts with Delano the Pixie King made my skin crawl yikes! Breena really grows even more in this book, and I know she will continue to be faced with hard choices that may not make everyone happy! I love how detail these books are when it comes to Feyland, to the clothes and even the characteristics of each character. I am so happy that the Summer Queen got her Just desserts in the end so shocking but she had it coming!!! There were other shocking and heart wrenching moments at the end of the book and I can't wait to read the next book!!!

This was the second book in the Frost Series Princess Breena finds herself making a deal with the Queen to trade Shasta for her Mother. Little does she know that Shasta wanted to be kidnapped to stay with Rodney a Summer Knight she feel in love with. Breena also learns that the wolf Logan is very much alive and kicking. She and Shasta devise a plan to rescue Logan and find with the help of Logan and Rodney they are successful. Breena also learns that her mother and the Winter Queen are friends of a sort. As Breena, her mother and her friend Logan are leaving the faeworld as part of a deal with The Summer Queen they are met with The Summer King who invites Breena to stay by his side, demanding The Summer Queen obey the King which is anything but what the Queen wants. She demands that Rodney be killed for being in love with a Winter Princess, puts Breena in a room for violating terms of the service of rescuing her mother. When Rodney is about to be executed someone executes the Summer Queen instead. Making Breena a Queen very quickly.

I loved reading about Breena the decisions she has to make in short time. What a great fae book and series.

The first book started out ok, and then started going south into the land of Cheesiness. (Yes, I just made up that word...clearly I am not a writer.) However, I LOVE me some YA books...normally. In the past few years I've become addicted and have read and thoroughly enjoyed many different YA authors and series. Unfortunately, this series is not one of them. I always feel bad giving a negative review, and I really tried to like these books, especially since I paid for them. I also usually can't stop reading a series once I've started, even if I start to dislike it a little bit. However, this was more than just a little bit, and it's the first series I've had to stop. I thought about reading the 3rd, but overall the cheesy, annoying dialogue was too much. Also I wasn't attached enough to any of the characters to compel me to throw more money into this series in which I found myself rolling my eyes at and wondering why I was still reading more often than not.

This was an amazing second installment. The book had a lot of twist and turns. Brenna loves two great guys but she is in love with only one of them but she cant figure out what her feelings are for either of them because her feeling are all over the map since entering feyland. Kian cant live with out Brenna but he cant be with her either because she is of the summer court. Logan has loved Brenna for as long as he can remember and wants her to come back with him on this side of the river. She is not sure that she can leave everything behind now that she knows that her dreams are real. The ending of this book will leave you screaming for more and wishing that the next book will soon be out soon.

Simply, Forever Frost makes you root for the heroine Breena Malloy, right away. Gone are her insecurities from the first book, and now she is a strong royal fairy hybrid. Breena learns to navigate the murky political waters of Feyland, using her wits and developing magic. You do meet Breena's mother and her mysterious father, which are amongst the most touching scenes. You also see reconciliation and heartbreak between Breena's two loves, the werewolf Logan and the cold fairy Prince Kian. Though I enjoyed Bitter Frost immensely, Forever Frost has me convinced this series gets better and better.

Another good one from one of our bookclub fav authors. Forever Frost rocks the fairy teen fantasy. It was exciting, unpredictable, romantic. What I give thumbs up for is this heroine is smart, brave, and Gow doesn't apologize for it. She doesn't wonder why someone loves her or not. She makes the tough decisions like her mother and moves on. Man, I needed a good self-esteem boosting teen book like this when I was growing up.

The story start when Breena has to make an important decisions about whether to save her mother and not help the Summer Court or let her be held hostage by Winter. With this beginning you can tell that the rest of the story will follow suit. Breena has to make a lot decisions throughout this story. At first, while reading this series, I thought it seemed very familiar to the Iron Fey series, but I defiantly like this one more.
