No disrespect to Christopher Somerville but jesus tonight this was boring!!

I actually like walking and I have been known to walk on old railway routes but I don't know how Somerville managed to take this subject and make it so banal and uninspired. Somerville goes into the history of how some railway routes closed down following nationalisation then privatisation, and who buys the land following the railway's demise. This could have been really interesting but again, Somerville has a droning, repetitive style that just makes this uninteresting.

I flicked through some of the walking routes, the most interesting and informative section concerning The Wirral Country Park. Most of the paths he takes would now I'm guessing be out of date as this book was written in the 70's! I bet half of the land is probably now housing estates or Amazon fulfillment centres!

A very boring book indeed, a total disappointment.
