Get the whole picture of your healthiest life.

Decades of listening to and caring for women have given Carrie Levine, certified nurse midwife and Institute for Functional Medicine certified practitioner, a collective women’s wisdom. Share in that wisdom with Whole Woman Health , the definitive introductory guide to functional medicine for women. With Levine’s comprehensive and empathic guidance, you can easily apply the principles of functional medicine to your life and learn to thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Divided into two intuitive sections, Whole Woman Health first helps you gain an understanding of the key principles of functional medicine before exploring the seven core processes of the Functional Medicine Matrix. As you explore the Nodes of the Matrix, you’ll recognise how factors like stress, diet, and trauma affect your daily health and wellbeing. Informed by her diverse roster of patients at her Whole Woman Health clinic, Levine shares stories of women encountering the health roadblocks that stump so many of us—and charts their whole path forward toward healing and happiness.

Tap into the medicine of “why” instead of the medicine of “what” with Levine’s customizable, expert guidance. Experience the benefits of integrating science and intuition through a functional medicine approach to your health and wellbeing.

Don’t wait until you’re sick to take care of yourself. It’s time to live your whole, healthiest life.

Carrie writes in a way that feels conversational and easy to digest while still providing a lot of information, but it never felt overwhelming. She dove into topics like how the symptom is the end of the road, not the beginning... understanding trauma... food being our first medicine... etc. My favorite line is "it's unrealistic to neglect ourselves and expect to feel well". This may sound obvious, but to me, sometimes I get so busy that I don't think about eating well, exercising, and taking care of myself and just chalk it up to being busy -- I've never looked at that through the lens of I'm actually neglecting me. Would definitely recommend this book!

This book should be a book all individuals should read regardless of having the anatomy or a woman. It is rich with information that connects all the dots between specific complaints or diagnosis and the root causes that can be contributing to them which traditional and conventional medicine falls short. She writes in a way that helps you normalize your experience and empowers you to realize you have more power in your health that any provider or medical professional has. This book should be provided in high schools and to the masses to help everybody have a foundational understanding of how lifestyle choices undoubtedly impact slowly they expression of health as we age ….and it can be changed.

I have a general interest in holistic and functional medicine for preventative rather than diagnostic reasons. For this specific reason, i don't believe this book is fit for me. I would definitely recommend it, however, for health partitioners or patients/people having a specific health concern in any of the following areas (nodes):

1. Energy (conversion)
2. Hormones and theroid
3. Digestion
4. Detoxing
5. Cardiovascular and lymphatic system
6. Immunity, inflammation, and infection
7. Membranes and bones

The book will help better understand how these imbalances could have happened with supported real-life stories, propose tests that you can take, and suggest some possible solutions/changes that could improve your health.

Not what I expected it to be.

Very informative. However, it felt like information overload. This is book is not really for layperson reader. There is some good information for women but it is too science heavy.
