Radikal und schonungslos, ohne Rücksicht auf herrschende Meinungen und mit spitzer Feder handelt Iris von Roten die Ungleichheit der Frauen ab. Sie spricht einer radikal egalitären Position das Wort und lehnt die seit 1890 von breiten Teilen der Frauenbewegung vertretene “égalité dans la difference“ grundsätzlich ab. Sie begnügt sich nicht mit der rechtlichen und wirtschaftlichen Unterordnung, sondern greift ebenso unerschrocken das Tabu-Thema Sexualität auf und hinterfragt die einseitige Zuständigkeit der Frau für die Hausarbeit und die Überhöhung der Mutterschaft.

Traurigerweise immernoch verdammt aktuell.

A book about women and women rights and taking a look at women's right to vote in Switzerland, compared to other countries. Interesting and astonishing it is still a subject to be discussed today! Some things have changed, it was published in 1958 first, but some still need to be changed regarding equality of chances etc. A bit difficult to read as in old language (well, German of that time) and quite political and some sentences are quite long, plus some phrases in other languages (French, Latin...). Can imagine it was not a popular book at the time, as it partly attacks certain groups of people (naturally mostly men, but not only). Some good reasoning. Something to think about.
