The book of Adventures in Colonial America “Salem Days” is about a young called Joshua Silsbee that left his family because he was unhappy with the life and work of the farm. Milking cows and digging up tree stumps were not for him. He was running away to sea in 1774 explores the Salem harbor while waiting for his ship to sail. At the end Joshua Silsbee was one of the captains of many ships made his fortune during this period. This history uses an exciting story to teach young readers about life during the colonization of America. The general age range of this book probably is for primary or intermediate because the words that this used are a little complicated for nursery age. Also this type of story is more interesting for young readers. The illustrator of this book obviously used only pencils because every pictures of this book are black and white and you can see the details of the pencils. Also, this book contains beautiful illustrations that support and enhance the story. The style was really appropriate because the language kept with the period and the pale, particularly in dialogue. I really like this book specially because the pictures were amazing and I can say that this book should be used for teach students about history.
