It started so well, then it just went off the deep end. Maybe I just can’t hack bully romances anymore, as some of these moments were borderline ‘WTF did I just read’. That may sound like a selling point to you but just wait.

Chapter One knew what it was doing. It drew me in with moments of madness, creating mystery, suspense, and drama from the offset. I was excited about what was coming next.

Along the way, the plot didn’t necessarily try very hard and a lot of moments were predictable. For example, in chapter 1 her mum references ‘going to see the stars’ and then in chapter 3, the MMC mentions the ‘celestials’, which is a secret society. I couldn’t tell if the astronomy connection was meant to be obvious or not. From there, I guessed a lot of the plot…

For the majority of the book I did like the FMC. She was a strong character and didn’t cave or forgive unforgivable behaviour when I assumed she would. She held strong and told the MMCs to f**k off many times. When it came to verbally destroying these men she did it well.

The FMC personality didn’t exactly wane, but because of what was being held over her head, she couldn’t retaliate to the bullying that occurred. That must have been a struggle…because the bullying was intense and a lot of the implications made you feel a little sick.

For example, one of the MMCs ‘gave’ the FMC over to a group of 6 guys when they started cheering, as she was being forced onto her knees. Remember she can’t say no to the MMC, due to spoiler I can’t you. These men surrounded her and he walked away knowing full well what they planned to do. He came back a minute later when he rethought his decision, but I’m sorry what the f*ck.

I understand and enjoy bully romances when it’s pranks or moments of embarrassment/ humiliation. I look forward to the heavy grovelling that I know will follow. However, repeatedly threatening her with potential SA goes beyond the bullying realm I’m comfortable with. I’m a bitter b*tch, I will find it very difficult to forgive these characters.

I mean for most of the book I hated 2/3 of the MMC. Then I ended up hating the last one, so 3/3 are bad odds. The last guy ended up making her give him a BJ in a room full of people while they threw abusive at her. Who are these people? WTF is happening.

These MMCs do show moments of empathy and protectiveness. They are fighting against their feelings for her and their parents/society's expectations, but Christ, I don’t know how they will redeem themselves. They have already been sentenced to life in prison in my mind.

I did finish the book, but I didn’t really connect to the characters and some moments were bizarre.

(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author Sybil Reese for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)

Please read trigger warnings.

Second book from Sybil Reese that was good and I can’t wait for the next one already!

This was a reverse harem book set in a university. I liked that the background story was easy to follow and remember, revealing it fast makes it easier to relate to. Prudence was that girl that didn’t cower easily to the guys as they attempted to bully her (I say attempt because it wasn’t that harsh to me). I’d say the least likeable is Asher and the most likeable is Griffin with Creed neutral though everything changed in the last few chapters.

I wish I had the next book already; the cliffhanger has left me so curious. Can’t wait!

Poor Prudence. What this girl goes through in book 1 is a lot. And just when I was really liking Griffin and thought he was different, he went and really humiliated Prudence. What he did was not only the worse, but it was the ultimate betrayal to her. She was trusting him and confiding in him and really thought he was a friend. Ash, and Creed too, have a lot to redeem themselves for and honestly I wouldn’t forgive them at all, but Griffin, he really needs to grovel and work for it. I’m hoping Prudence doesn’t just roll over and forgive any of them.
One thing I wasn’t crazy about, and definitely could’ve lived without, was Ash talking about how Heather was his regular f buddy and had been for years. He referred to her as his girl when he talked to her, took her upstairs to f*** when he got frustrated with Prudence, and even referred back to how they did it on period. It was just too much detail about their relationship and made it seem like she’s a lot more than just a hookup.

Deadly Sacrifice!

I love a good bully romance, that said, I wish this novel would have had MORE bullying.

This novel has a decent plot and it was easy to read. I really liked the FMC, Prudence (I know, what a name, right?!) She was sassy, sarcastic and didn’t back down very often. The MMC’s, Asher, Creed and Griffin are your typical hot, rich college guys and not very likable. They also weren’t very strategic in their planning or bullying and their emotions were back and forth a lot.

I’m hoping the sequel will have more backstory on the secret society and The Celestials. The boys need to get it together and come up and implement a strategy to ultimately accomplish what they need to. Overall this was a decent read and I’ll be moving on to sequel in hopes that the next book really has a lot of plot and relationship development. *crosses fingers*

@author.sybil.reese is a genius! After being invited to ARC review book 2 in this series, I quickly downloaded Deadly Sacrifice and finished it in less than 2 days! This book pulled me in and is a true page-turner! This slow-burn romance will consume me until I know how it ends!! Book 1 has a lot of plot w/ not a lot of spice but I am so excited to dive head first into book 2! The cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat to see what comes next! Keep an eye out for my review of Book 2 in the Blackwood University series soon!

Creed, Griffin, AND Asher? Why choose(; I really liked Prudence (FMC) and the twists that she goes through. It was an original story with a great trope! But not too much spice.

This one is a hard one to rate because while I really liked a lot of it there is quite a bit that I’m on the fence about that I could see going a way I don’t like in the other books. Every character in here is constantly changing their minds and it’s a bit hard to follow their current real feelings. What are real emotions and thoughts and which are there to further the plot and just add drama? It kept me on my toes and I was totally sucked up but I’m also feeling very whiplash-y.

The h. I liked her! It’s so hard to find likable hs in RH nowadays. She sasses and stands up to them and doesn’t just take their shit but not in a combative or aggressive way which is great! I wish she was smarter at times though. I felt like she wasn’t doing enough to attain her goal or being smart in certain situations, like during Fright Night. I like that she’s making the guys as uncomfortable as they’re making her.

I’m not sure what’s up with Creed. I think we’re not supposed to yet. I think he’s purposefully all over the place but his character rides the line between neurotic and complicated and inconsistent. He’s a total moron during a lot of this book. He seriously questions and can not understand why the h is icing him out just because he kissed another girl at a party after going on a date with the h. Hmmm, okie dokie. What girl wouldn’t love that? What a genius this dude is. I am interested to see how his character develops and I do like that he’s so protective of the h and despite everything was sweet to her when she needed him to be. I don’t mind the “only i can hurt her” hypocrisy. The surprise noncon scene with him and the h was great. I loved that her cold shoulder was getting to him that badly. He’s still an idiot though.

The other two Hs I don’t have a lot of thoughts on yet. Their strings are just being pulled way too much so it’s hard to really know what they’re going to be like once/if they decide to not listen to their crazy parents. For someone who was so pissy that Asher was turning into a carbon copy of his Dad, Griffin sure changed as soon as his daddy showed up. That was super annoying. The whole “I’m doing it to protect her” didn’t fly with me with the punishment that he gave her. Griffin and the h have already been open with each other. You can’t talk to her and stage something together for all the spies?

This would have been a four star read and was up until about 75%, I just needed all four of them to be more strategic and actively doing more to get themselves out of their shitty situations. Even with my complaints I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

That was a major cliffhanger. One of the biggest that I’ve read in a book in a really long time.

Wow...just wow! I finished this book up this morning and I cannot stop thinking about it. I want answers. No, I NEED answers soon! So glad the next book is coming out soon! I'll definitely be reading on.

I'm not even sure that I can put my feelings into words just yet. But I'll do my best...First and foremost, I loved this book so much! This is a DARK bully romance. So if you're a TW kind of reader then you better do your research before diving into this one, because it gets heavy and real.

That being said, I eagerly devoured the pages of this book. When I tell you that shit gets real, I mean that with everything in me. You won't know what to think, who to trust, or even how to react after reading it. Just whenever you think that you have an inkling of what is happening..surprise! You're back to questioning yourself almost as much as this story all over again...all the way up to the huge cliffy at the end.

Prudence arrives at Blackwood University with one mission in mind, finding answers just like I'm seeking in these books now. Boy, does she ever start to find them?! And Creed, Asher, and Griffin are always right there to deliver in more ways than one, too.

Im at a loss for words here! I LOVE Bully romance, but this was unlike anything I've read before. The MMCs were so different in their own sick and twisted ways!

I truly couldn't put this down! I thought the plot was incredible, so many secrets, lies, and deception. The number of questions I had by the end of the book, I NEED more!!

I loved Prudence. I thought she was an absolute bada$$, that didn't take sh*t from anyone, she was a nice change of pace!
Just when you think you are going to HATE these men, you love them, then you HATE them again. It's such a rollercoaster of emotion.

I HIGHLY recommend this book, especially if why choose, Bully romances are your thing, you won't regret it!

h was perfect!! But I don’t like Heroes.

Firstly, I don’t like it when H (Asher) had a unique f**kbuddy for very very long. He even celibate when that girl was on vacation for three months. She was the girl he only wanted to f before meeting h. I feel bad about this. 🤮 I don’t believe he had no feelings for her. (Heather)

Secondly, Creed also annoyed me. He kissed another girl at the party and didn’t understand why h was pissed about it.

Thirdly, (First H)Asher was obsessed with taking care of (third H) Griffen. And I feel weird he has OBSESSION feeling to third H. It was so gay for me. (Maybe he was not straight enough). 🫤

And I, so dnf.

This book was so well written. Unexpectedly good but please please please read trigger warnings before jumping in. Slow burning page turner that you cannot put down. Definitely was a dark bully why-choose that ends on a HUGE cliffhanger. Had moments where I wanted to throw my phone across the room and others where I was giggling and swinging my feet. Definitely recommend and would read again

"Deadly Sacrifice" is the start of a new dark contemporary RH series, that reminded me a little bit of the "Sweetest Revenge" series by Helen Scott and Zoey Shelby. The similarities include the college setting, the involvement of "Greek Row" and most of all the links these characters have to a secret society with a lot of mysteries revolving around it. On top of that, this series is just as dark, with plenty of triggering events. When you do have any triggers I highly suggest checking the warnings first. Otherwise this might be the perfect new series for you!

Besides plenty of similarities, this series still stands on its own. Prudence is a fascinating fmc. Even though she planned on staying below the radar, it's clear from the start she has a certain inner strength. That backbone only seems to get stronger throughout this first book, resulting in some interesting choices and behavior towards her tormentors: Creed, Asher and Griffin. Even though there are some scenes that make her bend, she never breaks and only seems to get stronger the more these men throw at her. And boy; do they throw some nasty s... at her! Even though every single one of these men has its reasons, they really toe the line of becoming irredeemable, and I'm truly curious to see how Prudence will make them grovel!

And then there is that ending of book one... This definitely needs to be classified as a cliffhanger! I can't wait to get my hands on book 2.

Phew! I barely made it through that ending! But I am here to tell you…

If you love bully romance, secret societies, steadfast and fierce fmcs, tortured souls, and a bit of slow burn, you really need to read this.

Prudence enrolls in Blackwood University to find out what happened to her mom all those years ago, not realizing she is signing her death warrant. The Celestials, a secret society with hands in wealth, politics and murder, have eyes on Prudence and want her stopped at all costs. Enter Asher, Creed, and Griffin, sent to oversee her destruction to ensure their place among the Celestials.

This book touches on a lot of tropes, including mental illness and PTSD, but does it tastefully and realistically. As someone who has suffered PTSD, the reactions felt real and visceral. The feel of the story is a lot darker than i anticipated, and that’s not a bad thing at all. I thoroughly enjoyed riding alongside Prudence, as she navigates Blackwood university and her growing feelings for Asher, Creed, and Griffin. The author doesn’t let up on the surprises for one second, and that ending had me near tears.

I’m very excited to see Prudence gain her strength and the harem come together for her. The darkness was everything I didn’t know I needed and I’m so hungry for more!

Who doesn’t love a great why chose, secret society with twists and turns! I know I love them.

Prudence is bound and determined to find it all she can about “the stars” to find out what they did to her mom all those years ago. Little does she know that she landed in their radar.

Asher, Griffin and Creed are tasked in their own way to bring her down before she brings the society down.

This book has twists and turns…a real love/hate for each of the guys. I love Prudence as a FMC…she takes no shit and had a strength about her.

This does end in a cliffhanger and I’m excited to see what happens next!!!

Story 4.5⭐️

Girl enrolls in her mother's alma mater hoping to solve a family mystery, but the college's secret society tasks three initiates to drive her off. Heroine was easily the best part of the book. She was confident but not in an over-the-top-eye-rolling way. I wish the main characters had demonstrated more commitment toward their goals. The book covers a few months and in that time Prudence accomplishes some research in the library and the guys have a few scenes of half-hearted bullying. The story needed more plot points, red herrings, more action, better use of side characters and setting, etc to make it more interesting. I skimmed most of the second half and won't be continuing the series.

DNF at 24%

I tried to like this one, truly. But by 24% I’m still really bored. I just couldn’t get into it. In the last 10 chapters, nothing has really happened. The FMC is a walking contradiction immediately, the writing is poor, and it’s all just really cliche and confusing.

What a wonderful surprise this book was for me. I'm not a huge fan of the bullying trope, especially because the characters in the few bullying books I've endured were sort of cardboard and incredibly annoying. Usually, the bullied girl is whiny and boring, and the guys never have a justified reason to bully her--it's just, like, random hate over something innocuous that makes no sense at all.

That's how this book won me over. Prudence is vulnerable and insecure, but fierce as fuck. She endures the bullying because she's on a mission, and the guys bully her because they have their own mission to accomplish.

Now, does their mission make any sense? Nope. I have no idea why the Elders decided to have the boys break her or whatever instead of just killing her and getting rid of the problem. I'm hoping the author will give a good-ass explanation in book two or three. Because if she doesn't, Imma be real pissed.

As for Prudence's mission. She has no idea what she's doing and, frankly, it kind of annoyed me that she was so determined to investigate The Celestials, but didn't really do anything other than go to the library. Oh honey, this ain't Harry Potter. When in doubt, you do not go to the library, because seriously, what do you think you'll find? A shelf full of the Celestial's secrets and books with instructions on how to bring them down? Honestly, her whole plan is pretty dumb, but I'm willing to overlook that because the story is nice and the characters are well developed enough that I can easily tell them apart from each other--something I have trouble with several, often really poorly written, RH books.

There are a few typos and some grammar issues, but nothing truly appalling.

All in all, with your suspension of disbelief firmly in place and a thorough understanding of what kind of book this is, you can have a jolly good time reading it. It's got plot, character and relationship development, and best of all, it does not rely on smut. There's some steamy scenes, but they're not drawn out and fit quite well into the story. And I really loved that this is a slowish burn. That no one falls victim to insta-love, Prudence doesn't spend the whole book drooling over the guys and letting her vagina do all the thinking.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Asher and Griffin's complicated relationship on book two, because there was too little of it in this one. And I'm really craving a well-rounded MM romance within an RH situation.

As always check trigger warnings. It's a dark bully college romance and my first read by Sybil Reese. This is the first book of this series and starts of as a slow burn with some spicy scenes near the end. But the tension between them all is palpable. They all have different petnames for her which is so adorable. And just to let you know it ends on a major cliffhanger.

Our main charachter's mom is sick so she has been on her own for a very long time. Now the time has come for her to figure out what made her mom the way she is now by going to the college her mom went to. She went there to do research but what she didn't expect is to find, is hot guys who are trying to take her out ( quite literally and figuratively ) You have Creed who is the college's playboy from start to finish, Asher who tried to be nice but turns out just the same and Griffin who i can't even talk about. They have one mission given to them by their parents, break her completely no matter what it takes. And trust me when i say, they go to extreme lengths to do just that.

I don't think i can find the right words to describe this book. But i'll try, it was very hard to read at times because of what not only our FMC went through but also the guys. It broke my heart so many times, i felt so many emotions reading this. OMG i went from being heartbroken and crying to feeling hot and bothered to feeling like i can take on the whole world, all in just this one book. You really live with these characters hoping/ praying for them to actually get their sh together and finally open up. But NOOOO that's not happening in this book. This was my first time reading a scene in the book and crying, balling my eyes out, saying NO NO NO please NO. I felt so bad. ( Griffin party scene, that's all i'll say) My heart literally ached reading that scene.

I am absolutely in love with it, I can savely say this will be one of my all times favorites. I can't wait to read the next one, i can't wait to have the physical copy's and i can't wait to see where there story continues because i am so invested, I keep thinking about them, i can't get them out of my head. It's not a question of want anymore but NEED :D obsessed!!!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Blackwood University is more of a prison than a school. There are secrets between the walls and evil lurking in the underground. However I wanted to follow in my moms footsteps so I applied despite all of the secrets and evil. When I get my acceptance letter in the mail, I plan for the worst but am determined to have my time at that University mean something. I am going to leave that place with something to show for the time I am there. However, I can't help but feel like I am walking into danger that I wasn't really prepared for. The people that are trying to stop me at every turn might just kill me before I can get myself out.

This is part one of this story. It will end in a cliffhanger. You will also want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contain triggers for some readers. This is also a why choose romance. You are going to want to buckle up for the end of this book. Yes I am telling you to get ready for the end before you even get started. I think I am still reeling from the end of this book and I loved every single second of what came before the end. This book has a little bit of everything. Prudence is in for one heck of a ride when she arrives at Blackwood University. She has to know what happened to her mom at this school and is so determined to do that. The Celestials are a secret society that has members that are really wealthy, are into politics and there is even a little murder running though that society. They are watching Prudence and they are going to stop her from getting answers to all her questions at any cost. I can't tell you anymore about this book. I don't want to give anything away. If dark reverse harem romances are your favorites then you do not want to miss this book.

*Deadly Sacrifice* by Reese Sybil was a decent read overall. The plot is solid, and it is easy to get through. Prudence, the main female character, is a standout for me—she's sassy and sarcastic and doesn't back down easily. Prudence might be a bit unusual, but it fits her character perfectly.

On the other hand, the main male characters—Asher, Creed, and Griffin—are your typical hot, rich college guys, but they're not very likable. Their planning and bullying tactics are pretty weak, and their emotions flip-flop, which can be frustrating.

Looking ahead, I'm eager to see the sequel delve deeper into the secret society and The Celestials. The boys must get their act together and devise a solid plan to achieve their goals. While this book was decent, I'm filled with anticipation to see more plot and relationship development in the next one.

Rating this book is tricky because there are parts I enjoyed and things that left me unsure. The characters' constant changes in attitude make it hard to understand their true feelings, which adds drama but also gives it a bit of a whiplash effect. It kept me engaged, absorbed in the story, but also left me feeling a bit dizzy.

Prudence is a gem, though! She stands up to the guys and doesn't just take their crap, but she's not overly aggressive about it. However, I wish she was smarter in certain situations. Sometimes, it felt like she needed to do more to achieve her goals, especially during Fright Night. Still, I love how she makes the guys just as uncomfortable as they make her.

Creed is a bit of a mystery. His character swings between being neurotic and just plain inconsistent. He does pretty stupid things, like questioning why Prudence is upset when he kisses another girl at a party after going on a date with her. Seriously? But despite his idiocy, he's protective of Prudence and sweet when she needs it. The surprise non-con scene between them was intense and showed how much her cold shoulder affected him. He's still an idiot, though.

As for Asher and Griffin, I don't have much to say yet. Their actions are too influenced by their crazy parents, making it hard to see their true selves. Griffin's sudden change when his dad showed up was annoying. The whole "I'm doing it to protect her" excuse didn't work for me, especially considering the punishment he gave her. They've been open with each other before, so why not stage something together for all the spies?

Up until about 75%, this book was on track for a four-star rating. I just needed all four characters to be more strategic and proactive in improving their situations. Despite my complaints, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Overall, *Deadly Sacrifice* is a decent read, and I'm curious to see where the story goes in the sequel.

This is a college bully romance with lots of dark content so be sure to check any warnings before you read. Prudence has a rocky history being the only child to a mother with mental health issues. She has managed to get into college, the same one her mother attended, in the hopes of getting some answers about a trauma that her mother has hinted at during ramblings in the past. I absolutely adore how Prudence loves her mother despite a tough past that involves at least one very traumatic experience (prologue). Upon her arrival, the secret society/cult of Blackwood University - The Celestials, has tasked Asher, Creed, Griffin and Heather with making her life miserable to the point of no return. Despite these orders, we find our MMCs falling for her in their own individual ways while dealing with their task. I love how this story keeps you on your toes! I still couldn’t tell you which of our MMCs are good and which are bad, and to be honest, I don’t think they know themselves. I am definitely invested in this series and cannot wait for book 2 to come out after being left with that mind blowing cliffhanger!!

This book was quite a really good read! If you like bully romance books then definitely pick this book up! However, please read triggers if you do!

This story is about a girl named Prudence and three guys named Asher, Creed and Griffin. This is a Why Choose MMF book. I think out of all the three guys I loved Griffin till about the end plottwist.

Additionally, the storyline does seem to be present. I really liked it since it reminded me a bit of some of my favorite bully romances. If you click on any other books i've read you're probably not surprised that I read this book!

This book had me on the edge of my seat apprehensive with what was going to happen next. Omg book friends you need to read this book phew. I love bully book's they are my jam, but when you thrown in suspense and why choose, well this girl is all over it. This is my first book by this arthur and to say she's got me hooked is an understatement.

Prudence hasn't always had an easy life growing up and especially after the accident when she was younger, but she's going to Blackwood University the college her mom went to and where thing's went wrong for her mom, and now 20 yrs later she's determined to get answers little does she know she's being watched by Asher, Creed and Griffin who has orders to break her they just have to find the key that'll let them get close enough to do that as each one brings something different that catches her interest, but Asher it's probably going to take a min lol.
This does end on a cliffhanger, so I’m needing book 2 to find out what's happening next.

There are triggers in here so read those before reading.

WHY, SYBIL WHY, that cliffhanger has me dead, I don't think I'm breathing right now, my mind is still reeling on how the book ended, from all the ways I imagined it ending that wasn't how, and I can bet my ass it was Heather that pulled it off, but it's just a theory, anyway that was amazing, seeing the guy's internal struggle and how Prudence never ever gave up, she's a strong ass bitch and I can't wait for her to kick ass in book 2.

Prudence as I said, is a complete kickass, she's so strong and unyielding, and I admire her so fucking much, she ate it in this book and I can't wait for her to do the same in book 2, now I can't say that I liked the men as much, I mean I love how unhinged Creed is, how sweet and cuddly Griffin is (until that party scene where I wanted to murder him) and how Asher seems to deeply care but has a war waging in his head, I can't wait for book two and to see how these men rectify themselves and fall head over heels for Prudence.

Sorry, some bully romance isn't for me.
At times, the fmc was good, sassy. But typical doormat fashion while in a situation that would be humiliating to herself she just gets on her knees & does it. Even when her inner monologue is admitting as she could refuse him (Griffin)
She allowed it yo happen while a roomful of frat boys watched & sling insults at her. Why?
This is what ruins the book for me.
An author claiming her hirl has a backbone when I fact she does not, not when it's the men in her eventual harem..

Also this trope right here:
I want to hurt her, if only so I could build her back up into someone who can fit into my world and be happy there...

Why? What even the heck is this? Thats the most toxic & unromantic thing ever..

Also TWS aren't a joke Author.
some of ys take them very seriously & you made a snide joke about them at the beginning of the book.
Nothing in there about bj's infront of a roomful of jerks.

Intriguing start.

3.5 stars. I like done if what we get here a lot. The bully aspects, the mystery. Will definitely jump into the next one. But the povs for Asher and Griffin don’t match their actions and that drive me nuts. Also Asher isn’t likable and not in an alpha kind of way. Doing what he is just got his dad’s approval isn’t attractive to me, hopefully it changes early on in the next book. I also didn’t get why Prudence was joining a sorority. I never felt like that part made a lot of sense to me, so I just sort of ignored it since that made her not so likable. No issue with Greek life but that she let them push her around like that and nothing about being in the sorority felt like it was moving her goal forward. Despite all this I plan to jump right into the next book when it releases!
