2.5⭐️ I’m sorry. No. Nope. Absolutely not. BECAUSE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT ENDING?!!!! I will not stand for it!!! My sweet baby Gabriel 😭😭😭 WHYYYYY?????

Okay ending aside, this book really fell flat for me except for like the last 15%! There really wasn’t much I liked except for Lance and Gabriel. I wanted so much more from the plot and just found it really lacking. This is a more romance and spice heavy series which is fine but for me personally I need more plot! I also am just not a reverse harem girly at the end of the day so I think that’s why I lost interest with this one especially because there wasn’t much plot to keep me engaged. But if you like reverse harem I think you’d LOVE this!

Also Elise is just really boring. Idk what it is but I just can’t connect with her character. I really only care about Gabriel at this point so I will not be finishing the series!

The Lance Orion crumbs were the best part of this entire book. I said what I said.

5 painful stars🌟

Crying. Throwing up. Don't understand what just happened in the second half of the book. It was a rollercoaster ride😭😭😭💔

The first half of the book was slow paced and not enough happened (except for smut). The second half is when the story picked up and I could not keep the book down. It was just so well balanced🤌

I do hope that King is a much lethal villian when revealed cause my expectations are high (comparing to Lionel Acrux🤷‍♀️)

Lance Orion made his appearance and I LOVED every second of it. He was charming as ever. I need more😩😩 Readers who have read this series before, do we get to see more of him?👀
The Heirs cameo was so well done🤌

Ryder, Dante, Gabriel....and Lance were the real MVP for me in this book. Their character development, the way they were leading and to see their emotions come to surface (especially Ryder's) was pretty much perfect.
Elise and Leon are little shits🙃🙃🙃🙃(I'm sorry but if you know you know).

I wasn't even taken Leon seriously till the end of this book and maybe that's why I did not see the plot twist coming. Did I like the twist? No. But it did took me by surprise and the authors deserve credit for that.

Can't wait to start with the next one. Looking forward to the mystery to unravel. Hopefully it picks up from Gabriel's POV.

I feel torn about this book, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. While I usually don't mind a why choose trope, this one began to feel frustrating as it progressed. maybe it's a case of the right book at the wrong time for me, but the narrative started to feel a bit too 'pick me.' That said, there were still moments I enjoyed, even though I was disappointed overall. The pacing felt off, and I think the story could have been much shorter without losing anything. hopefully, the next book will improve on this cuz I did really enjoy the first two books in the series and I think it still has a lot of potential

“Is there a point during the time in which you have known me that you got the impression that I was some kind of damsel in distress? Or that I required saving?” I demanded in a hard voice.
The four of them looked at me with concern in their eyes, but none of them could claim I’d ever been either of those things.
“Good.” I growled. “Because I’m not some soldier in this war. I’m your goddamn commander, your ruler, your fucking queen. So we will stick to the plan the way that I laid it out and you’ll all listen to me when I give you commands, or you might as well fuck off back to your dorms right now. This isn’t a negotiation. We’re here because of my brother. And we’re doing this my way.”

The search for Gareth's killer continues in this third book, and there was more searching and exploring of new leads in this book, compared to the second one. I found that the plot in the second book didn't really progress, but we are finally getting somewhere with this third book, and we can feel that Elise is getting closer to the killer, and also closer to understanding who the Card Master is, and what his connection to Gareth's murder is.

One strength of this book is the character development (for most of the characters, there is still one that annoys me), and the relationship development. I loved seeing the group interactions so much! I want more of them all together, and I said it in a previous review, but I just love how the men are not all friends from the start, and how they have to learn to interact to make Elise happy.

Before I go on talking about the guys and their interactions for 5 paragraphs (or more), I need to vent real quick about Elise. I love her and her spunk, but she was annoying and felt immature at times. She kept going on about how the guys were hers, but gets pissed and tells them she's not their possession when they try to decide things for her (to keep her safe, not simply to control her), she goes behind their backs and lies to them but cannot let them have some time in peace when they get mad at her because of that... She says that she's only there to figure out who killed Gareth, but there are times when she could have asked for information about him and she did not, as if she forgot about him. Anyways... I still really like her as the main character, but I also felt like slapping her at times.

“Fuck, little monster, how many of us are there?” Leon asked, almost sounding amused though he mainly looked shocked.
“Just four,” I said.
“What do you mean, four?” Gabriel demanded and suddenly the three of them were all staring at me with the storm clouds circling darkly in the sky above. It was pretty damn intimidating and my heart started racing.
“Well…you three, obviously. And Ryder,” I said defiantly.
“Draconis? Are you fucking kidding me?!” Gabriel shouted and Dante growled darkly, suddenly in agreement with him.

While they're all very different, the 4 kings have no choice but to try and work together for Elise's sake. The relationships between the 5 of them are getting more complicated, but stronger at the same time. Gabriel is stubborn and is convinced that Elise is just having a "phase" and that she will forget the others once she becomes his mate, Leon is desperately trying to bring everyone together because he sees that this is what Elise needs, and the guys are also starting to realize that there is more to Ryder than a cold and violent man.

“I’ve decided to give you what you’ve been begging for, Scar,” Leon teased. “We are all going to watch The Lion King.”
(…)
“I still don’t understand the point of this,” he muttered.
“When people like each other, they do shit like this,” I pointed out.
“Well I might have admitted to liking you, but the Lion is a different matter.”
“The Lion has exceptionally good hearing,” Leon called from the back of the room. “And if you care about our girl as much as you should then you should want to make her happy. Which means becoming the Nala to my Simba.”
“Nala ends up married to Simba. I don’t know what kind of fantasies you’ve been having about me, but I can assure you that outcome is not in your future,” Ryder said.
“I knew you loved this movie,” Leon called triumphantly. “Do you need a tissue for when Mufasa dies or do you just let the tears flow free?”

Leon was the MVP when it comes to the relationships in this book (except in the last third where he was a moron). Seeing him trying to include Ryder in some of their activities, or simply trying to get to know him and Gabriel because he understood from the start that Elise needed all of them was awesome and heartwarming. He already has a strong bond with Dante, but we can see in this book that he is starting to develop a tentative friendship with Ryder (friendship might be a strong word for what they have, but they will get there someday). Also, the way Leon just brought out Ryder's dry humor and went along with it was pure gold. They made me laugh out loud a few times.

Leon is so kind, full of light, understanding, and supportive. His relationship with Elise is the cutest and the sweetest, I really liked him in this book. I think there was great character development for him, and I LOVE his role in the group dynamic. He acts like the glue that tries to hold all 5 of them together, even when some of them do not want to be together.

“Can you taste cherries?” she breathed against my mouth.
“No.” I brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “I can taste my own soul, because it’s the exact same flavour as yours.”

While Leon and Elise have the lightest and cutest relationship, Elise and Ryder probably have the most authentic relationship. They are both broken and full of pointy edges and dark parts, but they embrace each other fully, bad parts and all. They love the good and especially the dark in each other, and I was impressed to see the lengths Ryder was willing to go, just to please Elise. It was sweet to see him slowly becoming more "human" and less cold psychopath, and I love how they do not hide any part of themselves when they are together.

Dante remained pretty much the same in this book. He is a steady, strong presence in Elise’s life, and he is willing to share her because he understands that it’s what she needs… He only needs to accept the fact that he might have to share her with his mortal enemy too. We can still see that he changed since the first book, he seems less self-centered, and his family motto is showing even more in his actions. He is willing to do anything and everything for his family and those he loves.

Gabriel on the other hand annoyed me. He was a favorite of mine in the first book, but then he was pretty much absent for most of the second book, and he spent 80% of this book whining and trying to explain to Elise how sleeping around with many men was just her "going through a phase" and it would all change when they finally become official mates. Ugh! He was so annoying, and I am glad that Elise stood up to him and explained very clearly to him why she didn't want to change and why he didn't truly love her if he was just waiting for her to change who she was. I hope that he will change his way of thinking in the next book because I want to like him, but for now, I would not mind if he just left the gang.

Cries of pain sounded around the clearing and the Black Card split apart as death descended on them from everywhere. Inferno, Mufasa and Big Bird carved through the edge of the group before King even realised what was happening.

While they are not friends, Ryder, Dante, Leon, and Gabriel are still forced to work together, and I loved all of their group interactions. It was full of snark and even banter, and Ryder's nicknames for the rest of the men always made me laugh. I also love how every once in a while, Ryder would show a softer side when he was with Elise and it would shock everyone.

The 4 kings had to investigate, scheme, and fight together, but of course, just as things were starting to look good, and I thought there was actually hope for them to one day be able to function together as a "normal" group, something had to happen to drive a wedge between all of them. I am an angst-lover though so while a part of me is crying because I loved the idea of them all becoming friends, another part is happy about the angst that is sure to be part of the next book.

“Great,” he growled, rubbing the saliva from his face. “Lick me again though and I’ll shove your tongue up your ass.”
“Leon’s tongue is already too far up your ass for you to get hold of it,” Ryder commented and Orion barked a laugh.

“Hate to break up the reunion.” Ryder kicked me in the side which was probably affection in his language. Or maybe I was just hopeful it was.

A part of this book happens at the Zodiac Academy, and if you read the ZA series, you are familiar with Lance Orion. I really enjoy the little I saw of him, and I like how he seemed to be forming a bond with Gabriel, and the scenes with them together almost serve as a tiny prequel to ZA because it explains how they met and became friends.

It was also nice to have a change of setting for a while because even though this series is addictive and very entertaining, it's still been over 1,000 pages already, and almost all of it happened on the Aurora Academy grounds. The plot was also starting to stall in the second book, so the change of scenery helped.

“We’re not a pack,” Leon said, waving a hand dismissively. “We’re a pride. But instead of a King with a bunch of lionesses we have a Queen with a bunch of Lions.”
“I’m not a fucking Lion,” Ryder disagreed.
“You are. You’re Scar, Dante’s Mufasa and I’m Simba and Gabe is…Zazu.”
“So you share her?” Orion asked, his eyebrows raising in surprise and for a moment I could have sworn he looked a bit impressed by me for claiming these four powerful beasts as my own.
Leon and Dante said yes while Ryder and Gabriel said no and I sighed.
“It’s complicated.” I shrugged.

OMG. That ending.
What. Was. That.
I was not ready.
It's a good thing the next book is already out because I need to know how Elise will manage this plot twist that happened at the very end of the book. The last 15% were a roller coaster of emotions and there was no way I would have been able to stop before reaching the last page.

4 Stars bc of the Lance Orion content bc let's be honest, he's really the only reason I'm reading this in the first place, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! (only that I wish there had been more)

So Elise is still on the "hunt" for her brothers killer, and I use "hunt" very loosely bc as we have already established, girlfriend is crap at her investigations. Meanwhile her real focus and priority is her relationships with the Kings. This book had a bit more focus then the second one though and I was definitely more invested.

All four of the Kings continue to be interesting and engaging and I like them more each book. The character development is really well done (especially Ryder's). These books are comedy gold, if Leon is on the page, odds are I am cracking up! Dante, that dude is just sexy! Such a GOOD vibe! Gabriel I feel is getting the short end of the stick as far as showing us his personality bc he's so hung up his vision and what he thinks it means. I still love him best bc obviously! Ryder is the most heart tugging to me, this poor freaking man. His story is very layered and his development is by far the best, I love seeing his growth.

I am just going to come out and say the thing, I don't really like Elise. I tried, I really, really did and maybe I will change my mind later but I just can't with her. This book especially, the things that came out of her mouth sounded like they were straight from the F-boy douche manual! And she was so bratty! When she doesn't get her way with one of the guys she goes to another one like a child playing their parents off of each other. I don't get the infatuation with her, this "I'm not like other girls" trope always grates me. Full disclosure RH isn't really my favorite but there are good ones but for me it's a hard formula to achieve. In any case, it's not so bad that I won't keep reading bc I like the boys and I'm starting to see the ZA storyline fold in so I will absolutely stay for that.

That ending as all these books was fire though! I did not see it going down like that!

The star of the book was my husband Lance Orion no surprise, he is perfection what can I say! I was giddy to read his parts. And by the way!!! No freaking way that "fight" went down like that, I call BS!

This. Book. Guys. Will. Kill. Me.
The full power of the RH is on, we get a crossover with Zodiac Academy, a death that let me gaping, a Divine Moment, more spice than ever and a blissful cliffhanger. The plot goes further with the divergences between the gangs and with more details about Gareth's death, while the characters have a wonderful development, both as individuals and in their relationships.

“They’re all mine.”
None of the guys objected to that at least.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

🐍🐲🦁♏    The four Kings

“Fuck, little monster, how many of us are there?” Leon asked, almost sounding amused though he mainly looked shocked.
“Just four,” I said.
“What do you mean, four?” Gabriel demanded and suddenly the three of them were all staring at me with the storm clouds circling darkly in the sky above. It was pretty damn intimidating and my heart started racing.
“Well…you three, obviously. And Ryder,” I said defiantly.
“Draconis? Are you fucking kidding me?!” Gabriel shouted and Dante growled darkly, suddenly in agreement with him.

Their relationship was enjoyable to follow, since all four of them are so well written and totally different. Dante and Ryder are enemies, but are willing to suffer each other some times for Elise’s sake. Gabriel doesn't really stand any of them and definitely refuses to accept this "phase" Elise is going through, being sure she'll only want him after they have their Divine Moment, but, forced by the circumstances, seems to accept that there's more to Ryder than his cold mask.

“You look like the end of the night not the start of one,” Leon commented and Ryder’s upper lip peeled back.
“You look like the asshole of a lion not the front of one,” he tossed back.
“Touché,” Leon laughed and I could have sworn Ryder almost smiled.

Leon and Dante keep being friends and bending the rules of the deal, both accepting Elise’s wishes, Leon taking things even further and accepting Ryder and Gabriel too. I think he even managed to develop some sort of compromise friendship with Ryder, after setting up the Lion King night for the two of them and her. And Ryder? He's definitely intriguing, having maybe the biggest challenge accepting everything and proving a powerful character development.

“Leon!” I called desperately, moving towards the door and meaning to follow him, but a hand locked around my arm, halting me before I could leave.
“I’ll go calm Mufasa down,” Ryder said in a low tone. “You stay here.”
I was so shocked by him even offering to help that my feet remained rooted to the floor as he marched straight out of the room.

They still don't totally trust each other (apart from Leon and Dante), but they put their differences apart for Elise. There is plenty of banter, snarkiness and brooding going around, I love it when they try to go full Alpha and there's definitely the beginning of a friendship here. Too bad the stars had to go and choose this as the proper time to single out one of them with a Divine Moment and drive a wedge through their potential friendship. Because even these ruthless guys don't want to mess with the stars and put themselves between two Elysian Mates.

🧛‍♀️🦁 Elise and Leon

“You’re all I think I could ever want for myself, little monster,” he murmured. “I’ve stolen more treasures than I can count in my lifetime, but you’re the only thing I’ve ever tried to earn. I just hope that I can be enough for you…”

They are the golden relationship. Definitely the sweetest and cutest one, with Leon being that adorable and amazingly supportive man. There's simply nothing else more to add here. They are fun, warm, easy and bright. I love them, no questions asked.

🧛‍♀️🐍  Elise and Ryder

“Can you taste cherries?” she breathed against my mouth.
“No.” I brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “I can taste my own soul, because it’s the exact same flavour as yours.”

They are both broken, pieces of themselves coming together with each other's help. They are dark and twisted, but the love here is obvious and I am awed by the lengths Ryder was willing to go for her. I like how they accept the good and the bad in one another, the happiness and the pain.

🧛‍♀️🦁 Elise and Dante

“I’ll always look after you, amore mio,” he said.
“I’ll always look after you too,” I replied fiercely.
“Per sempre,” Dante added softly.
“Forever,” I agreed.

Dante’s kindness and protective nature gives me huge family vibes for their relationship. He just loves her soooo much and is there against all odds and everything. I feel like he's the one she can always rely on to be understanding and emphatic, whole Elise is always willing to throw herself between him and danger with her vampire speed. Also, the breaking of the promise bond between Ryder and Dsnte definitely took their relationship to a new level.

🧛‍♀️♏ Elise and Gabriel

I scoffed at his blatant flattery and smacked his arm playfully. “What are you after?”
“You,” he replied simply.
Before I could respond to that, he caught my waist and pulled me flush against him as he kissed me.

Gabriel is the one who definitely still refuses to share her and they always seem to be half fighting. He's blinded by the fact he's seen she'll be his Elysian Mate and won't accept the others, insisting he'll wait for her to realize he's the only one for her. He's definitely there for her when she needs him, helping her hunt down more information about Gareth, but their relationship stays a lot under jealously and possessiveness.

🧛♏ Orion and Gabriel

“By the stars, you’re hot,” Orion breathed, leaning in closer with a dark expression on his face.
“What?” I balked, leaning away from him as he reached out to cup my cheek.
“All those muscles look like they need some attention,” he growled, taking my hand as I slid down into another seat. “Stop running away, Noxy, let me make you feel good. No one can see us here.”
“I’m not into guys, dude.” I slid further away and his eyes sparkled with a reddish glow.
My gaze fell on the Oreo packet discarded on the ground and I inhaled sharply, tossing away the one in my hand. “You’ve been drugged with a lust potion, idiot.”

I love chapter 37, watching the bases of their friendship and Nebula Allies relationship (as was mentioned in Zodiac Academy) being formed. Because what better way to get a new friend than by rescuing him after he's been drugged with a lust potion only to ask his help with some dark magic afterwards? I love to see the origins of the Noxy and Orio nicknames and it made me sooooo happy to have them interacting that I couldn't stop smiling like an idiot throughout that particular chapter.

》》Conclusion《《

I love it. Love love love love it. And Orion might have stolen the spotlight for a bit. And I'm dying to see what's coming next because a fight, a death and a Divine Moment are a lot to process in the last few  chapters.

“That’s why you should give her to me,” I said as barbed wire coiled around my heart. “She’s the closest thing to family I’ve had in a long time.”
“Well I can’t do that, Ryder, because she’s my family too,” Dante said possessively.

When I started reading this series I really enjoyed it. I had assumed that it would end after three books, at the least four because each book don't really contain enough for there to even be another book. So yea, I assumed there would be three books only for me to keep reading and realize how wrong I was.

For someone that went to the school to find out how her brother died she does seem to forget the mission a lot. When I mean a lot , I mean a lot. She forgets until shes angry at one of the guys then she realizes what she went there for in the first place. Next is the guy with the wings, Gabriel? Saint? (forgive but I read this book about a month ago and I have forgotten all their names) we were given a little information about him and hes in the midst of deciphering that information but is that happening, no not really. The clan rivalry thing between the Oscura and the Lunar brotherhood got played out after book two, they are all having sex now, they should get over it. Leon the friendly lion was ok but even his family is saddled with drama in the form of his cousin.

Long story short, I am tired of this book. I was tired months ago seeing as I've only remembered to leave a review for it. Not impressed.

p.s. I hope this is the right book for this review, I remember the cover so even if the characters are not the same the feeling remains. I didn't like it.

The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac series is my favorite paranormal reverse harem series EVER!

Caroline and Susanne created such an intriguing story set in a dangerous magical world full of gangs, a myriad of supernatural beings, and murder. The characters in this series, the friendships, and the romances are some of my favorites of all time. The character development over the course of these novels individually and within the group is phenomenal, and I have never been gifted with a more fantastic group of book boyfriends!

If you're a paranormal RH fan, you simply cannot miss this series. It would be utterly tragic!

an extra star for Lance Orion only. ilysm<3

although, i did debate taking the extra star back when the authors decided to have Elise beat Orion in a fight... out of all the wild things in these books from Pegasuses (after much deliberation, Google told me this is the plural of Pegasus, okay?!) with bedazzled genitals to every words that comes out of Geraldine’s mouth, that is what i find the most unbelievable.

Story of 2 halves...the first 55% seemed to take an age to wade through and then once we got to Zodiac Academy/Tucana (yay for cameos) everything finally took off and the ending was pretty cool, really enjoyed the Earth magic displayed in the final fight scene even if I could not stand the character doing so. Back to the ending tho, way to hook a gal into needing to read the next book btw 👍🤐🙃

If I could give all the stars for how Noxy & Orio came to be I would...I have been waiting for the story hinted at in ZA and it does not disappoint 🤣😂🤩
More of all the boys interacting on page please, Ryder's dry humour is really starting to shine & Leon continues to be such a ray of sunshine for the most part but 🤫 and when he wasn't I was still really rooting for him and felt he was justified in his feelz + reaction 😈

3.5* possibly being generous as I really didn't love the first half amongst other things. I don't know if RH stories aren't for me or if I just don't like this one's set up as it sometimes feels like she wants them to respect her choices/desires but she's not willing to accommodate them to the same degree 🤷‍♀️ I was particularly disappointed with her when she deliberately goes against what one of them asks just cos she thinks she's right and how she "uses" the other boys willingness/desire to help her go directly against him despite how messed up the scenario she is taking advantage of is - sorry if convoluted but I don't want to spoil anything and as mentioned this is my first time reading RH so maybe this is par for the course but it just doesn't feel to me like she was always offering the same respect/acceptance she expects 🙊

There are also some things that have become so repetitive they've started irrationally irking me...if I never read about another piece of gum, cherries or how often peoples tongues touch the inside of their own darn cheeks it'll be too soon...sorry not sorry for picturing them all simulating BJs when that line appears just to amuse myself in the context 🤭

Other niggles include continuity errors with both this series and the other, character descriptions and habits such as having a character explicitly state they choose not consume alcohol yet a chapter later they are casually sipping beer like nbd...I know I'm prob being petty and admire these ladies for their addictive storytelling and how quickly they pump out books but if you're laying down distinguishing markers for your MCs plz stick to them 🤗
I also have very little time for the girl on girl hate being peddled over jealousy/boy drama in both series - soo toxic and lowkey disappointing from a pair of female authors 😕

On a lighter note, I don't think I'll ever tire of the Lion King references and about died at the interaction that namechecks Zazu 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

4.75⭐️

this has taken over my life, I can’t remember the last time I was this hooked on a fantasy series

I LOVE the progression of the friendships and relationships in this, and how funny all their interactions were with each other and also learning more about the characters deeply.

I’m going to admit Elise is boring and I honestly don’t know what they all see in her but I’m here for the boys, I love them so much and I was LIVING for the Lance Orion cameos

My favs were Ryder & Gabriel, but now I love Dante so much, Leon is also great but him & his ‘Mindys’ do give me the ick sometimes haha but his inner monologue really does make me laugh 😭

I mean what’s happened so far definitely could’ve been wrapped up in way less than 3 books one of which being over 600 pages, but I think sometimes when it’s long like this it makes you love the characters sooo much more

So much happened!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚❤️💜💖
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 🤓😉☺️😍🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Elise Callisto - her brother Gareth had died of a drug overdose and Elise knew that he would never willingly take drugs, so she is determined to find out who killed him. She got herself enrolled in Aurora Academy, where Gareth had been going to school and living. Now she was on the hunt to find his killer, whom a source told her was a King, so the kings of the academy are some of her main suspects.

The Heroes: Gabriel Nox - he is a harpy and has the strongest magic of anyone at the academy. He has a secret about what he did to Gareth on the day he died, but he didn’t kill him. He is helping Elise to find out who did kill him. Gabriel knows that Elise is his Elysian mate.
Dante Oscura - he is a storm dragon shifter who can create lightning with ease. He is also the head of the Oscura gang. Gareth did jobs for him while he was alive, but Gareth was also doing jobs for the Lunar brotherhood, so if Dante found out he would have killed Gareth.
Leon Night - he is a nemean lion shifter and has a ton of animal magnetism which makes women do things for him. He was best friends with Gareth, but Gareth stole something that belonged to his family and if he ever found out, who knows what he would do to Gareth.
Ryder Draconis - he is a basilisk shifter and head of the Lunar brotherhood. Gareth was working for him, and he showed Gareth how he killed anyone who betrayed him. Gareth was betraying him by working for the rival gang, the Oscura clan.

The Story: Dante’s uncle Felix had been killing the Lunar brotherhood and anyone who gets in his way for months. Felix, who was leading the Oscura clan while Dante was at the academy, deserves to die and Ryder had a plan to kill him and many of the Oscura clan using a potion he concocted which took away Fae powers for a short time. Though Felix somehow snuck out of the club, Dante and Elise were there and a huge confrontation took place.

I love the little quirky details in this series. They have silencing bubbles they can conjure wherever they are which are like a cone of silence where nobody near can hear them. They all have an Atlas, which is like their iPhone or iPad that they use to message each other and look up things on the web or they can go to Faebook to see what everyone is posting. They play a game called Pitball, and everyone reads their daily horoscope which are nearly always correct. There is also a Fae Investigation Bureau (FIB), and this rat shifter (bullied geek), named Eugene Dipper whom I really like and am glad Elise is semi-nice to.

The audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Troy Duran and Kiera Stevens. Kiera is terrific, but I am even more impressed with Troy Duran than usual. I usually like reverse harem audiobooks when there is a different narrator for each of the male characters, but Troy is like that. He has a very deep gravelly voice for Ryder; a laid-back, easy-going voice for Leon; a slightly FaeItalian accent for Dante; a dark and brooding voice for Gabriel and a straight middle class American voice for Gareth. A lot happened in this book, though we are still hearing chapters from Gareth to see what led to his death and he is still 10 months away from the day he died.

I was disappointed with this book. I kept having to skip paragraphs and sometimes chapters because all there was, was the sex with the different kings. Absolutely no story line whatsoever. And how many times do you have to keep repeating that she is there to avenge her brother. I like a good sex scene, but this was ridiculous. It didn’t pick up the story line until the last quarter of the book. So sad to see this happen to a good series. Giving this a 2 star because the last quarter of the book was good.

So I didn't go to sleep last night, so that I could read this. But... it was worth it.

Oh my gosh, this was a ride. A beautiful and thrilling ride. Elise has really grown as a character, and with her growth, you also see how her 4 Kings really start opening up as people. And we constantly see more sides of them, rather than the facades that they present to everyone else.

I love this because it definitely shows how loving someone can make them better and also open the possibility of becoming a better version of yourself.

Since the first book, Elise has constantly stated her lack of fear in dying since her brother is dead, but now because of these beautiful/gorgeous men. We see her want more from life. LOVE.
And with that love, comes all the sexy, steamy scenes that I cannot live without.

Elise's attitude about her men just makes me love her. NO ONE is going to challenge her regarding this, because she will not take it laying down.

I'm a proud Elise fan to say the least.
Not only does this book answer some vital questions about shadow magic, but it also explains a lot about soulmates, which is needed. Especially if you are reading the Zodiac Academy (Star crossed lovers!)
My dreams have been completed. Because we not only saw a crossover from your favorite hot teacher, Orion. (And the cute and funny bromance between him and Gabriel. I was literally dying, it's too good.)

But we also got to see the HEIRs as little versions of themselves. It's too cute.

It's them before they became huge ferocious dbags
Warning to you all: Although this book is filled with tons of stuff that will have you jumping for joy, theres also the side of the nail bitting/foot stomping misery that is accompanied by the infamous CLIFFHANGER.

As always Caroline and Susanne will get your heart pumping with those last chapters, to only leave you in a lurch for the next couple of months. Wondering. And wondering.... and wondering.

Honestly my therapist is expecting me, so I must get going, and learn how to deal with this.

Until our next ride together.

*I was given an arc, for an honest review. Super grateful to Susanne and Caroline. Thanks for making Christmas come early.

3.5 stars ✨

the fact that i'm getting attached to these characters already... 😳

🌺 first of all, LANCE ORION CRUMBS. finallllly. i thought everything would go to shit for a moment, cause in his very first scene he flirts with elise. flirts. with. elise !!!!!! sir, i know you're single in this series but that was uncomfortable and unnecessary to read 😤 however, once i got past that awful first encounter i was really glad he appeared. and he had a lot of scenes, much more than i thought he would. my faves: the fight with elise and the beginning of the bromance with gabriel 💕
“You’re not going to try and fuck me again are you?”
He laughed. “In your dreams, Noxy.”
A grin pulled at my mouth. “Only in yours, Orion. Or should I call you Orio?”

leon's crush on him was so cute. nothing less for my vampire king 🛐😌
I ran forward and his eyes widened in alarm as I crashed into him, dragging him into a bone-crushing hug. Lance Orion was the best fucking Airsentry in all of the academies. He was tipped to be picked up by the Solarian Pitball League after he graduated. He might play for the fucking Skylarks one day. And I’d met him. I ran my tongue up one side of his face. And I’d licked him too. Which made him mine.

now the fact that he's constantly talking about pitball and how he doesn't drink alcohol cause he needs to keep in shape? yeah.. that was painful. but he'll get his happy ending eventually i'm sure😭

🌺 Dante and Leon are still my favorites, but i've come to really like Ryder now too. is this genuine or is it only because i've already read almost 1600 pages about these guys? who knows, but it's happening. and the RH thing isn't even bothering me anymore... which is new 😳

🌺 except for the scenes with Orion, i can barely stand Gabriel. there, i said it. his only purpose in this series is to help Elise with the sight and be annoyed at the fact that she's with the other guys too. he's too obsessed with this idea that she'll be his Elysian Mate and can't comprehend what she's doing with the rest of them. not that i don't understand where he's coming from, because i'd totally be the gabriel in this situation lol. but gabriel honey.. get over it, cause the others aren't going anywhere 🤪

🌺 i felt like there was too much smut at times? it would be great to use a little bit of that time to move on with the plot.. but sadly, there is no plot 😭

favorite scenes:
💠 movie night with ryder and leon
💠 the trip to zodiac academy + all the scenes with orion lol
💠 ryder telling elise the story behind his scars while she tattooes him
💠 party at the acrux's mansion
💠 dante and elise's phone sex dsjk
💠 ryder and dante about to have an actual dick measuring contest.. and almost laughing about it

all in all... still not great, but it was more fun than the previous ones. though i think i need a break from this series 🥴
p.s. WHY are these covers so fucking awful 😭😭

This book got 2 stars because Orion and Gabriel have an adorable friendship and I loved the origin. With all of Caroline Peckham’s books I hate them but can’t stop reading them. This type of book is really really really not my thing. I thought the bullying was bad in Zodiac Academy. I am not into whatever the hell s harem is. I assumed that Elise was Gabriel’s soulmate because of what I read in Zodiac Academy. But after that ending I’m not sure what to thing.

Of course I’m going to read the next one because I’m a glutton. But I do not like how this is going. I hate even the mention of a love triangle when I’m reading so the fact that all these idiots are up for sharing a girl who is so obnoxious and self centered I am floored she functions. I read this for Gabriel, and he’s the only reasonable person in this crazy series. I hope he finds his soulmate and it’s not her. I can’t remember if they mention his wife’s name in ZA…. I should go back and check.

And I’m all for a mystery, but this shit is dragging. I can’t stand that all the girl says is she has to avenge her brother and that’s all she cares about and nothing will stop her and she doesn’t care if she lives or dies. And THEN all she does is string them along and has sex and is shocked that some are not buying that she can give “all” of herself to each of them. I really don’t know. I skipped so much useless dialogue and I hate myself that I am going to immediately start the next book! Hah

NEVER trust the Twisted Sisters. That's all I am saying for now.
Check the ideal care package to survive this book below.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I think I am ready for this review, but it honestly feels so different from other ones.
I kinda feel this book can be taken on a whole philosophical and psychological level although I am certain it was not intended.

The topics addressed in this book and the complex dynamics of
=> love, care, family, found family, polygamy,
=> friendship, animosity, betrayal, partnership,
=> acceptance of self, acceptance of others, what shapes us as humans, healing, pain, being enough,
=> fate whether predetermined or interchangeable, taking control of our lives, forever,
=> hope for a future, need to belong, knowing one's past,
=> sex and intimacy, solitude and companionship, possibility of change, etc.

Addressing all these topics and from these very different personalities was just a masterpiece of writing.

I won't dwell on how much the character development continues to amaze me and how each of their stories binds this more and more. But I truly believe the topics above are the core of this book.

Aside from this, the emotional damage and the way the last 15% kept me on edge truly delivers every time, and I am willing to go through it all again.

I still don't know who killed Gareth. But, is he really dead? Yeah, I am at this point now getting to that theory. 🫥🧐

Care package for this book would ideally include:
- Oreos
- Tissues
- Your absolute favourite Ice-cream flavour
- Your favourite toy (excuse my bluntness, but IYKYK)
- Probably some pom-poms too
- And a murder weapon.
Thank you MoodReaders for the inspiration 💜

Maybe my favourite of the series so far but struggling to care for any of the characters (apart from Leo). A fun series to read but ZA will always have my heart.

Leon had my full love with the line “Did Gabe like me? Definitely did. Which meant I’d just won the Elise’s Harem Boys Bingo.” Man just died and come back to life but is thrilled he’s the fave in the group.

What was that ending????

I’m still reeling from that roller coaster jfc best plot twist in the history of RH madness.

This book was fantastic. I fell head over heels for Leon in this book. I loved his relationship with Elise, sure. But my favorite part was his relationship with Ryder (the way Leon brought out Ryder’s dry sense of humor just about killed me), Gabriel (“Don’t call me Gabe”) and Dante (I wish they’d fuck already ngl). Even his scenes with Orion were fantastic (And Orion’s scene with Gabriel and that lust potion, oh my). I could quote half this +600 pages long book and it’d all feature Leon.

And while Leon won me over, Gabriel on the other hand...

I just can’t deal with his constant whining and how self absorbed he is. The fact that he tries to control and change Elise makes me wish he’d leave the harem. She has enough with 3 beefcakes 😅

Ryder was my second favorite in this book. His angst was top notch quality. And his character development was exquisite. His smut scene with Elise and Dante will live rent free on my mind for a very long time.

There are a lot of “gay moments” in the book but things never get that far and I’m starting to suffer from literary blue balls lol I mean, is it too much to ask for mortal enemies to fuck each other?!

Anyway. I’m obsessed. Onto the next book.

I'm sorry for my language in this review, I was very annoyed with a certain character and could not put it into better words. So be warned; foul language is used in this review.

👑 The story 👑
In this book, the relationships between Elise and all of the boys are evolving even more. Her search for Gareth's killer is getting closer and closer to the real culprit.

I loved the progression of everyone's relationships in this book, and I was glad there was some more actual searching for Gareth's killer - action, because that was kinda missing in the last book. I loved the boys their relationships too, they're slowly warming up to each other! Although I must say that like 75% of this story was Elise thinking about sex, having sex or bitching about not being able to have sex. I kept forgetting that she was actually there to find Gareth's killer - only his chapters made me remember that fact. The ending was better because it had more action, but I - again - missed the search throughout the beginning of the book. What I loved most of course, is the fact that they got to go to Zodiac Academy! I might've screamed a little when they met Orion and the Heirs, and I loved to see them all as young(er) boys so damn much! And again, I just loved the subtle references to the ZA books, it was so damn great!

Besides that, I thought for sure that these books wouldn't give me as much heartbreak as the ZA books. It wasn't as bad as that - because honestly, nothing can be as bad as the pain those books gave me - but it wasn't great either. I mean,

👑 The characters 👑
🧛‍♀️Elise/Little monster🧛‍♀️
I'm just going to talk about her real quick proceeds to talk about her for 3 paragraphs, because I'm so annoyed with this chick that I might actually start throwing stuff. Or throw a Lion temper tantrum. She literally turned into a horny teenager (or maybe she already always was and I just didn't realize) who can’t think of anything else besides sex. She literally said to Gabriel that her relationships with the boys weren't just about sex, but any time any of them tries to actually talk, she's like "let's have sex instead". Hot damn, she annoys me so much, she's like a fucking child. And the Leon thing had me so pissed - telling him on the evening before the biggest game of his life, and then saying how it’s mean how he ruined Gareth's dream of playing: YOU DON'T GET TO BITCH ABOUT THAT, IT WAS LEONS DREAM TOO AND YOU FUCKING RUINED THAT. Shit, I'm so mad!!! And she literally said that he needed to get over himself? Bitch.
And then, when she was interrogating Nightshade, she whined about how she thought that Gareth had something to do with it all; WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK HER MORE THEN? Such bullshit, she literally asked her ONE question about Gareth and then just forgot all about him?! You seem to forget about him quite often for someone who claims that she loved him sooooo much. She was such a selfish bitch throughout this entire book, and I normally love reverse harem and I love all the boys to death, but she somehow feels like a slut who can't think about anything else but sex. Shit, I hate her. It was also so stupid how she kept pushing Lionel, he's a ruler of the country who could kill her with one snap of his fingers, and I felt like she was being such a child in the scenes with him. Don't get me wrong, I hate him, but even Tory knew when to stop pushing and Elise just keeps going. She's so damn annoying. Everything that she did in this book was just so damn stupid,
Last thing that I want to bitch about, is how she keeps calling the guys hers. She keeps complaining about how she hates it when they treat her as their possession, but she does the same thing to them 24/7?!!?! Literally, she said it to Orion when they had their order fight thingy ("Mine", and she said "you're mine" to Ryder. Idk, I just hate that?? It's okay to say "I’m yours" or something like that, but I hate it when someone says "you’re mine" like they don’t have a say in that whatsoever. Seriously, they are not your possessions or your sex toys because apparently that's all they are good for in your head hm?.
Ugh, I'm going to stop now because I might break my keyboard with how aggressive I'm typing.

🐍Ryder/ssssnake boy/Rydikins🐍
...maybe I could feel more than pain and lust. Maybe there was at least one more four letter word I’d be needing a tattoo for in the future.

I loved the progression of his relationship with Elise, although I feel like he deserves so much better than her ugh. I love the friendships that are starting between him and Leon, and him and Gabriel - I totally see them being BFFs in the next few books lol. He even talked with Dante, and I've been waiting years (well no, not years, obviously just a few days, but still) for this moment, and then they just don't have any of those scenes after? Dammit. But anyway, I loved the scenes we got of him in this book. First of all, he finally I felt so bad for him. And then he got a tattoo for Elise, so damn cute! I hope he'll be okay in the next book and won't close himself off like I know he will :(
His nicknames for everyone are so damn funny by the way, I choked multiple times while reading those.
“You’re an asshole,” I said, but there wasn’t an ounce of bite to my voice.
“I am,” he agreed, no longer trying to wrangle my Atlas from me. “Though I’m considerably less of one around you for some reason.”

🦁Leon/Simba/Mufasshole🦁
Now Leon, he's the love of my life man. I loved how he did literally anything, and with that I mean anything to get around the deal between Dante and Ryder. It was so damn cute! He's such a good friend. I laughed so hard about all his interactions with the other guys, and I'm glad he's so accepting of Elise, because I certainly am not at this point. I looooved that they finally watched the Lion King, I laughed out loud so many times. Seriously, his kinda-not-really-friendship with Ryder is everything, I love it XD I loved how excited Leon was about going to ZA and meeting Orion. I'm kinda wondering if he's bisexual because he was fantasizing about Orion as well - which was so damn funny, I would love it so much if it turned out that he was! And his food obsession is so damn funny. He just made me laugh so many times in this book, I love him. I kinda I really can't wait to see how their relationship will progress now though.
“You look like the end of the night not the start of one,” Leon commented and Ryder’s upper lip peeled back.
“You look like the asshole of a lion not the front of one,” he tossed back.

I love their friendship so much, I'm serious, they are better than any other relationship in this book.

🌩️Dante🌩️
I love Dante's family so much, and I'm glad we got to see some more of them in this book. I don't really care for Rosalie, I didn't really like her in ZA either.
I felt like he said that a bit too soon for my liking, but it was very cute. I'm glad he but I hated the moment for it. I'm sorry, I'm bitching about Elise again, but seriously?! She literally just ruined Leon's dream and he was heartbroken, and she was like oh well I'll just fuck someone else then. She didn't even freaking try to make Leon feel better, freaking bitch. I'm sorry, this paragraph should be about Dante. Like I said, Ugh, insensitive bitch. I swear I'm okay - I'm sorry but I just hate her so much.
I must say I struggled with his character a bit more in this book, because his constant Italian was starting to annoy me. I'm the kind of reader who always wants to understand what is being said, and I hated that I had to Google Translate like every other sentence. Sure, important things were translated in the book, but so many things weren't, and I just wanted to know what was being said.

🦚Gabriel/Peacock/Big Bird 🦚
(I'm still crying over these names, freaking Ryder XD)
Gabriel finally opened up to Elise a little in this book, but Although I kinda started to agree with him about Elise sleeping around, I really did hate how he tried to control her in so much. He's a bit too controlling for my liking, which is so weird, because I loved him in ZA, but I really just don't like him as a character in here. I'm glad I'm very glad that I was at least wrong about some things about him, because I really thought that I already knew everything.
I wasn't very invested in him - again - but I loved his scenes with Orion. It was so nice to read about where their nicknames for each other came from, and it was damn funny. Love it! Can't wait to see their friendship progress even more.

Thank you Leon, I love u.

👑 Overall conclusion 👑
Overall, it's safe to say that I enjoyed this book a lot less than the other books. This is mainly because of Elise, who annoyed the hell out of me in this book, especially at like 60% into the story. The only reason I kept reading, was their trip to ZA and because I loved Leon and Ryder to death, and I can't wait to read more about them. I definitely laughed out loud quite some times.
But I'm going to take a little break for a while and read something else that's not in this universe, because I'm hoping that my hate for Elise will lessen a bit.

And I need all of you. I need the light and the dark and the joy and pain. I can’t pick between you any more than I could reach inside myself and choose a piece of my soul to keep and others to destroy.

Vicious Fae fucking ripped my heart out and let me bleeding on the ground. So many things went down and the happy ever after looks farther away than it did a book ago.

There are many things I completely love about this series. I love that Elise holds her own against her more powerful men, I love how jealousy is a big part of it, I love how they are not immediately up for sharing her, and I love how they unconditionally love her despite everything that eventually comes between them.

But most of all, I just love how we know what is going to happen, but not how or when.
Elise will find her brother's killer. Dante and Ryder will overcome their fated feud. Gabriel will accept every part of Elise. They will get their happy end, together. And Rosalie will get her much older love interest in a few years.

Their bonds with Elise are simply way too strong to be decided by the Stars. And I cannot wait for the next book to show me I am right. Because Vicious Fae ended on the most heartbreaking note there could be.

I was not prepared for the last bit of this, but loved every minute of the last half! 4 stars
