MYLO & SAM'S STORYMylo Monroe cares about three the library he runs, his brothers, and remaining single so he can continue his carefree lifestyle. But much to his chagrin, there’s one woman he can’t get out of his head no matter how hard he tries.
Samantha Rodriguez is an award-winning photographer and has spent her illustrious career traveling the world capturing breathtaking moments on film. She was certain her life would never change, but when her mother’s Alzheimer’s worsens, she hangs up her camera and travels to her hometown of Sudbury, New Hampshire, so she can remain at her mom’s side.
Luckily, her best friend lives in Sudbury, but that friend is also married to the brother of the hottest one-night stand Sam has ever had. Since her divorce, Sam has vowed to remain single, but when she's unexpectedly invited to her ex-husband’s wedding, she enlists Mylo as her pretend boyfriend for the event. He plays his role all too well, making them both question whether there’s more to this heat between them than a casual fling.
Meanwhile, as her mother’s condition worsens, a nefarious local cop from Sam's past threatens to expose Mylo and his brothers for what they truly are, making a happily ever after seem impossible.
How can she care for her mother and develop a relationship with Mylo when both could be taken from her at any moment?
Her Alien Librarian is the second installment in the Stranded on Earth series, featuring a plus size, 37-year-old woman trying to forget the hottest one-night stand she's ever had. But she can't get him––or their night together––out of her head. And the more Mylo tries to deny his feelings for Sam, the more his inner dragon insists she's the one.
If you like huge, sexy aliens, friends to lovers, steamy love scenes, and happily ever afters, you'll love this series!
“At this point, I’m all in. I don’t care that his eyes haven’t turned red. I want to go to sleep to the soundm of his voice as he reads to me, and I want to wake up inm the safety of his arms.”
(I F**** cried while I quote this because this sentence is so damn Beautiful)
What an emotional rollercoaster. Mylo and Samantha are so into each other and already bicker like an over 60-year-old married couple and I love it! The spice between them is like one of them shouts “F*** my brains out!” while the other shouts back “Challenges accepted!” It felt so natural to read about them so it nearly destroyed me the way how both deny so HARD their real feelings for each other. This is the best friends with benefits read I had in a long time. This book got so REAL (such a hard page turner I could not part with it) the way it is written that I would totally believe you if you would tell me Draxilo’s would be my new neighbours. You will miss SO MUCH IN YOUR LIFE without this read. I also loved the book recommendations and the Bridgeton references.
A book that is sweet, spicy, and packing an emotional punch. I devoired it in two goes (only because I had to sleep lol) and was sad to say goodbye to the main and secondary characters (there's a strong found-family vibe that I'm a sucker for). This series is a gem!
A dragon shifter, a fake couple trope, and a smoking hot librarian named Mylo? Yes, please!
"Her Alien Librarian," the second installment in the "Stranded on Earth" series is one hell of a ride. This book's got everything you need: a fake couple trope, a dragon shifter, and a smoking hot male librarian. Seriously, that guy can make anyone weak in the knees. Oh, and let's not forget about the steamy mirror play scene,
"Open your eyes. Watch yourself come" – damn, that was hot! that was f-n hot!
Now, what really got me hooked was how Ivy managed to weave in references to my favorite authors and books, along with beloved actress and singers. It made the story feel personal, like it was hitting right in the feels. It's like she's saying, "Hey, I know what you love, and I'm bringing it to life!"
Now, the no-rough-and-spicy zone. Picture this: Mylo and Sam spending the night together, not in a naughty way, but by simply reading a book out loud. Talk about intimacy! This author knows how to highlight those small, tender gestures that tug at your heartstrings. But hey, don't get it twisted, this ain't your run-of-the-mill closed-door romance. Nah, this book kicks those doors wide open and cranks up the heat. Gotta love a story that celebrates the sweet and sensual.
Now, let's give a shoutout how Ivy created perfect villain under the character of Officer Burton, god that man gets under my skin. It's a power play that sucks, and I'm glad this book tackles it head-on. Ivy knows how to highlight the abuse of power and hits the mark flawlessly.
And then there's the mom situation. It had me bawling my eyes out - it wrecked my heart.
If you're ready for an out-of-this-world romance with fake couples, dragon shifters, and a smoking hot alien librarian, "Her Alien Librarian" is the book for you. Ivy's writing hits you right in the gut, making you feel all the emotions. Just make sure you've got a box of tissues handy 'cause you'll need 'em.
This book not only delivers a satisfying happy ending and teases readers involving the next possible couple but also contains the following trigger mentioned below.
Trigger warning: This book contains scenes that reference or depict sexual harassment, rape mention, caring for aging parents, Alzheimer's, parental death, grief, ableism, racism, homophobia, cops abusing their power, as well as graphic violence which may be triggering for some.
Thank you so much to Ivy Knox and their team for an ARC copy, all opinions in this review are my own 🤍
Okay, I wasn’t paying attention when I signed up for this arc, sorry I got way too distracted by a hot alien librarian woops, and didn’t realize it was the second in a series. Sooo, admittedly I was a little lost in context due to my own silliness. However the subtle connections between the first book and the set up for the third were done nicely. I like how there is a larger plot brewing while also focusing on the individual love stories, I am excited to read the others!
Mild spoilers incoming…
Focussing solely on the relationship between Mylo and Sam, I enjoyed it. Their characters are fun, and their personalities are perfectly different but also fit together. Sam was sassy and fun. Mylo was sweet and caring in so many ways, whether it be reading to her sick mom or caring for her on her period, or sticking up for human rights. The spice was great, like really great. I liked the playful secretive dating to fake dating. I do wish that the communication was handled better, especially from Mylo who was otherwise quite blunt. It made no sense to me that he wouldn’t be upfront with Sam as soon as he was feeling used/hurt even while struggling to admit he wanted her.
The central storyline was awful in the best way. There were small endearing things scattered throughout the beginning of the book that made me adore Sam’s mom and made me feel hopeful for them to rebuild a relationship before her reality completely slipped away…….. and then Ivy just went ahead and ripped my heart out and fed it to a dragon.

Super sweet and extra steamy! This is a wonderfully fun-to-read alien romance, with very heartfelt moments.. Endearing alien librarian and his adorable brothers..
This book was fun and I had a lovely time reading it. Kylo and Sam work well together and they had good chemistry. I liked them together and I felt they stood out on their own as well. There’s some hints to the book that happened before this but I don’t think there’s much to be confused about even if you don’t read the first book.
This book does deal with Alzheimer’s with Sam’s mum and that plot line does pack an emotional punch. For me, it felt that the author did a good job with it but it might be triggering to some, especially considering the big twist that happens in the book.
This is the first book I've read from the "Stranded on Earth " series.
Mylo is the sexy alien librarian and Samantha is his true mate.
They had a one-night stand a couple of months ago, before they found out that Mylo's brother and Samantha's best friend are each other's true love. Sam's mother is very ill and she has to come back to her home-town to care for her. Doing so, she's bound to meet Mylo again. As soon as they meet each other again, they start acting on their constant attraction. Their feelings towards each other are very strong, but none of them want to admit it. Sam was married before, but she wasn't happy. So now, she doesn't believe in love. Mylo's dragon recognised Sam as his true mate, but Mylo alone didn't admit it. He was trying fiercely to deny it, but the heart wants what it wants.
Both of them were trying really hard not to commit to their love, but true love always finds a way.
Although the main story revolves around Sam and Mylo, we still have appearances by the characters from the previous books. I loved all the scenes with Vanessa and Axil and his brothers. Sadly, the trouble with officer Burton that started in book 1, continues in this one as well. At the end, the things are settled alright, but from the author's acknowledgment at the end of the book, officer Burton will get what's coming for him.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.
***I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.***
💙 “If you run, I’ll find you. I will be there, ready to carry you when your legs grow tired, because you are mine.” ~~~ Samantha is a talented, award-winning photographer. She’s independent, strong, stubborn and resilient. Even more, she’s so kind, caring, sassy and fun. And she’s such a great and supportive friend. I loved her so, so much! But after her failed marriage, she’s sworn off men and doesn’t believe in love. However, fate has some very special plans for this lovely curvy human…
And Mylo is one spectacular male! The gorgeous hunk of an alien librarian is so charming, nerdy and flirtatious. Even more, he’s kind, thoughtful, patient, supportive, compassionate and has a fantastic taste in literature. He’s also fiercely protective and so deliciously possessive of the people he cares about. And his draxilio is quite feisty, too. I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about this smokin-hot and absolutely irresistible male!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Sam and Mylo! Months ago, they had a passionate one-night stand before Sam left Sudbury, a night both could not forget. Neither of them is looking for a relationship but, now that Sam comes back home to take care of her ailing mother and they meet again, sparks fly right from the start. I adored those two together! Their chemistry was fantastic and their banters and teasings were so much fun to read. And I loved the quiet and tender moments they shared together, too. Their relationship was quite the emotional rollercoaster. I really loved that Mylo was so supportive of Sam when she was dealing with everything in her life. And when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot! Oh, Mylo and that filthy mouth of his! And there was a primal scene… 🫠🫠🫠 I couldn’t get enough of all the deliciously naughty bits. Sam and Mylo were so perfect for each other and more than deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, the storyline was spectacular! I loved all the pop culture and book references. And the Monroe brothers getting together is always so much fun. But my heart broke for Sam’s family. And then… there’s Officer Burton… I loathe that man with my whole being and really, really hope he gets everything he deserves very soon.
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with so much emotion, humor, suspense, drama, action, danger, scorching hot passion and magnificent characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Aliens with blue skin, curved horns, and can shift into a dragon! Sign me up. This is book two in the series. They are interconnected standalones. But at times I was slightly confused. Because things had obviously happened in book one that would have been helpful to know. But it didn’t overall ruin anything for me.
The FMC, Samantha, is a traveling photographer. She comes home to care for her ailing mother. And that is a struggle to read about. She has dementia and if you’ve ever known anyone going through that it is a rough path. The author did a wonderful job writing knowledgeably and emphatically about the struggle with this disease.
The MMC, Mylo, is a librarian and has that typical nerdy vibe. However, you find out in book one. Or late in book two, that he used to be an assassin. So he has that underlying danger vibe.
Neither character wants anything serious. And they originally met through a one night stand. However, Mylo’s draxilio claims her as his mate. Through the book both characters fight their attraction to each other. And the seriousness of their connection.
This book has a lot of pop culture references. And I know that some readers love that type of thing. However, it really throws me off in books. They also have a lot of underlying references to feminism and homophobia. I don’t mind reading about things like that at all. However, I like when they are just organically a part of the book. This one felt like they were trying too hard to make it a part of the story.
Overall, it’s a good story. Especially for lovers of alien romance. I enjoyed reading it. And would recommend it. I received an ARC of this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
4.25 stars. Sam, the female human lead, had a one night stand with Mylo, the male alien dragon shifter lead, and was then shocked to find he was her best friend’s fiancé’s brother. Whilst they only need to interact occasionally, it’s been a stressor for both of them because the mutual attraction still exists and is very strong. When Sam’s mother’s dementia worsens, Sam returns to her small town where Mylo is the (extremely sexy) librarian. In desperate need of a distraction, Sam propositions Mylo for a friends-with-benefits arrangement.
Mylo’s dragon has been sure Sam is his mate since he met her, so he agrees because this way he’ll get time with her and maybe they’ll move to something more. But Sam’s family life is deteriorating and the corrupt town sheriff is still trying to harm Mylo and his brothers plus neither is sure of the other one’s true feelings…
This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and an interesting small town, dragonshifter/human romance with a heavy political background plot. I enjoyed the significant character development and empathised deeply with the trauma Sam underwent as her mothers condition deteriorated. I appreciated both characters’ perspectives on their own needs and wants and how those might not mesh with the others. I enjoyed the relationship development and the intimate scenes. I was less fond of the political overtones throughout the story, though they do make it interesting and leave scope for a grand arc across future stories.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
I love Ivy Knox's Stranded on Earth series. The characters have so much depth and emotion to them and the issues they deal with are so real and really pluck your heart strings.
Mylo is a draxilio, a dragon-like shape-shifting alien who came to Earth with his 4 brothers 16 years ago to find their mates. Sam is a traveling photographer who has come home to become her Alzheimer's mother's primary caregiver. Sam already knows Mylo is an alien as she found out in the previous book, so this book is more about Sam and Mylo coming to terms with their feelings with each other and the fact that they do want forever. Sam also has to deal with her mother's worsening Alzheimer's while Mylo has to deal with Sudbury's own racist homophobic cop, Officer Burton, who has it out for the brothers.
This book has a lot of emotion surrounding Sam watching her mother's decline which was so well written. The grief of watching Elena decline was real and heartbreaking. I also love the fact that Sam is very body positive despite the culture we currently live in. Mylo has to deal with discrimination against himself by Officer Burton and against a drag queen friend. Ivy Knox also touches on book bans and other issues current in our society and it is all so well written, you can't help but get angry on the characters' behalf.
I highly recommend this series to all who enjoy sci-fi alien romance books with heat.
I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an ARC copy.
I read this in one sitting, not wanting to put the book down. It's a standalone but part of a series. I have not read the previous book, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything important. Each book concentrates on an alien dragon shifter brother as they find their mate.
Sam and Mylo hooked up last year, and Sam has been away working since, but now she's back to look after her mother and the mutual attraction is still there. There was a lot of back and forth with these two, neither seemed to want to fully commit to the other but at the same time they couldn't seem to stay apart. Things get very steamy for these two, but we also see some lovely sweet gestures and a friendship growing as they get to know each other.
This book is a sweet romance, but it also doesn't avoid real-life issues. Sam's mother is ill and her family have to deal with that, we also have a corrupt cop determined to hinder anything he doesn't agree with.
This story was not plain sailing for these two, they had a lot of things to work through, you really didn't know what might happen next.
The epilogue was sweet and with a little twist thrown in, which I'm hoping is expanded on further in the series.
- standalone - shared world series - duel pov - second chance - fake relationship - alien dragon shifter
As a reader and more importantly a sci-fi romance reader, I am gonna be calling dibs on Mylo, because that sexy shifter is all mine. As a sexy dirty talking alien nerd that is the Librarian at his own library, and can shift into a dragon…and also reads sci-fi romances to her…yeah definitely dibbing him for sure because he is sexy af and a fantasy come to life. Mylo is Axil’s brother, and Sam aka Samwhich aka Vanessa’s bestie from book 1. These two had an unforgettable night together a year ago, then saw each other again because of her bestie and his brother being mates…and a lot of what the moments going down. After they see each other again they keep saying it’s a “one-time thing”…they probably should’ve said it was a “daily thing”…because they can’t keep their hands off each other, and their control is sh*t….so again, a daily thing….I know she is lucky af.
Safe read with a sassy “one-time thing” woman and her sexy dirty talking alien nerd dragon shifter librarian mate….yup…still mine. I love this series, I think it’s my favorite one from Ivy Knox, so good. Great storyline, and just a great read. We get to see our favorites from book 1, including Vanessa aka Vanilla, and gain some new favorites. And that epilogue…holy crap…next book please, I need more please….and nowish works for me.
Oh gosh I loved this!! As soon as Ivy put the image of Milo being a big nerdy golden retriever Chris Evans lookalike out there, I was sunk.
I love a hot, buff nerd and Milo was absolutely perfect. He fit against Sam’s edges beautifully and they really worked well together as a couple. Especially him reading to her 🥹 Milo’s easy acceptance of her dyslexia was just the perfect response.
I liked that although the subject matter got heavy, what with all the homophobia and Sam’s mother’s declining health, it was still a very light-hearted book. The story was fun, the banter was interesting and it was nice to see the teasing between the family. The spice was also nicely balanced and not too in-your-face with smutty scenes.
Overall, it felt good to back with our Draxillios again! This is a sweet, spicy, kind of sci-fi story and I’m already eager to dive right back in with the next books!
- [x] Curvy FMC - [x] Alien who loves books! - [x] Past trauma - [x] Spicy 🥵
Mylo is the hot guy that runs the local library, but he just so happens to be the one night stand Sam had a while ago. Sam is back in her home town to take care of her mother, who has Alzheimer’s. They both really don’t want to have a relationship and are ok with being friends with benefits. Sam is divorced and needs a date to her ex husbands wedding. Mylo is the obvious option, so what could go wrong? 😉
I’m really enjoying where @ is taking this series and characters. This pair felt SO REAL to me. The way their feelings were so in tune, yet all over the place at times. I enjoyed how Sam was not bothered by the whole “alien” aspect of Mylo. The way Mylo stuck by Sam’s side and didn’t judge her for her challenges. The struggles that Sam had to overcome to achieve all that she had accomplished in life. I love a book that has characters that feel relatable
Her Alien Librarian has a very contemporary romance feel to it. Mylo is a dragon shifter alien trapped on Earth with his brothers. He and Sam met for a one night stand and then ended up being from the same town.
Mylo's dragon knows from the start that Sam is their mate but he has to get Sam and Mylo on board. Sam comes back home to care for her mother who has dementia and becomes special friends with Mylo regularly. 😉
Throughout the story there are several different social issues that are dealt with from dyslexia to book banning (why I thought it has a more contemporary feel). Sam and Mylo work together to face these issues. These are big issues but did not make the stroy seem too heavy.
This is the second in the series which can be read as a standalone but you will know more about the set up if you read the first book.
I absolutely loved reading this story about Samantha, and Mylo. Mylo is an alien dragon shifter who works as a librarian, Mylo and Sam have a casual relationship after hooking up after her best friends wedding to his brother. Samantha is a photographer who travels a lot, Sam has been called home because her mother has Alzheimer’s and her health is deteriorating fast. Sam and Mylo eventually become a permanent thing, but there is corruption in the police force, and they are targeting Mylo and his brothers. The story leaves off with Sam and Mylo overseas, but he feels a presence of others like him. We will have to wait and see in the future books what happens from here.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
For this young woman who was raped like her friend finds it hard to trust for her former husband couldent understand that she was unable to read it trust anything people say ,she comes home to look after her mother until she has a full for she had been sleepwalking and fulls down the stairs and ends up in hospital and there she passed away now she is going through a tuff time with her gref and her mate is weaites for her to heal and so there life can starts.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm that loves to read
Destroyed that this book has ended and I can’t just read on about the amazing chemistry between Sam and Mylo!! Do I want my own alien boyfriend? YES. Do I also wish he was a librarian? YES. Are human men now extremely underwhelming? ALSO YES. I am so lucky to have been able to read this, time went by quickly and the closer I got to the end- the more I didn’t want the story to end. I love a good friends with benefits and *spice*, I’m going to have to go binge read all of Ivy Knox books to make myself feel better .
You definitely need to read the first book before this one; there are many references to things I didn't understand because I assumed that a different couple made it a standalone in a connected universe, rather than fully connected, but I was wrong!
I think if I had read book 1 first, I would've had a better time reading. I didn't connect with the characters. The antagonistic stuff wasn't as impactful because I didn't have the history, and though it was explained for those of us that haven't read book 1, it didn't have as much of an impact.
I LOVE MYLO! Honestly this series is my FAVORITE and this story does NOT disappoint. Warning: Sam is going through A LOT - so definitely read the trigger warnings at the beginning of the story - and she's trying to figure it all out and her place in the world. Mylo and Sam have great chemistry and Mylo is constantly trying to anticipate Sam's needs beyond just the physical. As always, Ivy has a gift for writing great content, addressing sensitive issues, and great chemistry and spice!
If you like enemies to lovers, but cannot keep their hands off each other PLUS a hot male, alien librarian PLUS adorable brothers PLUS a female main character reevaluating what she wants for herself and the life she wants to live PLUS one night stands that morph into regular night stands?
Then you will absolutely LOVE Her Alien Librarian!
Oh and there is a HUGE dose of fated mate, touch her and die vibes too!
DNF. I think I may have just read this at the wrong time? I was not entranced in the story, I didn't feel like I knew the characters enough to appreciate the love story. This is the second book in a series, and I have not read the first one. So, I feel like I missed some back story that would have helped with enjoying this book.
The story follows our real world troubles & weaves the otherworldly alien dragons in for fun. The romance is very believable & sexy. The story does not disappoint.
This book was awful. Sam was a nasty piece of work. She was self centered and a lousy daughter. She lacked morals and decorum. This has turned me off to the series.
