The helpless New York City police department turns to Helen Singer, a specialist in serial murder, when a crazed killer begins littering the streets of the Big Apple with his victims. Original.
I guess this is out of print - I can't find it on Amazon and there are only one or two mentions on Google - but I read this when I was thirteen and it made a huge impression on me. It was the first book I'd read that featured prominent scenes of torture (I didn't get to "American Psycho" til I was eighteen) and my easily-impressed middle school friends and I passed it around amongst each other. If I recall, it was about this weird cult leader who wanted to create a symphony based upon real human screams, thus the elaborate torture scenarios. Now I'd kind of like to read it again, to see if I'd still find it as scary as I did then, or if I'd think it's just ridiculous.
A police detective story with scenes of graphic sex/violence and child sacrifice that a Satanic cult is doing. The writing is just OK, and the characters do stupid things. This writer(Adrain Savage) which is probably a pen name, has a irritating habit of writing super long sentences. It drove me nuts. Some of the torture scenes this cult do are really disgusting. I am surprised this got published by a major book house (Pocket books). This book will disgust and offend. You have been warned!
The story was very all over the place, some scenes didn’t need to be included and it was very confusing to what was the main reason for the cult. It did have some scenes of great descriptive gore but that couldn’t make up for its very poorly handled story.
