Using a special ruby, Trevor discovers a fantasy world where powerful men obtain harems, foxy ladies swish their tails, and magic is real. An awesome kicker—he's a ruby mage capable of turning his foes to cinder.
I give it 4 stars because it is written really well
It is written incredibly well, Dan is a great writer and that's what drew me to this. I just didn't like how dark the story is. I'm not so into the whole "Dom & sub" thing, or how dark the world is portrayed that's going on so I really couldn't get into it. I won't hate on it tho, that's just my own preference. Too many dark stories and not enough portal fantasies with a feel-good type of story. But definitely give it a try, Dan's writing is always a pleasure to read.
Although this genre is not one I would usually read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. While it slows down a couple of times, it is generally a fast moving story. The characters are well developed, and my only quibble with the story is that I found the ‘dream’ sequences difficult to recognise, but then again, that could have been my fault. There were several annoying typos and misspellings. I gave up noting them after a couple of books. I will definitely read more of this author’s work.
This book is an absolute mess. Paragraphs that make no sense. Incongruent statements that boggle the mind. It feels like a story that was written by a retarded A.I. it boggles the mind. The high reviews must be paid or bots? There’s no way a thinking human reads this and says “Yeah! Five stars!”.
The concept is pretty good and parts are written pretty well. The MC as well as other characters can be inconsistent personality wise which can be distracting. Honestly if the harem elements and constant sexual times were removed or toned down 90% and replaced with more solid character elements it would easily be 4.5 stars.
3.5 stars. I round up since it didn't piss me off like most 3-star (or lower) books do, but it was very flawed in some ways. Mostly the MC. I could never get a solid read on him as he seemed inconsistent, and he was completely helpless without his gems. Not a lot else to say, really.
weakest book i have read by Dan Raxor so far. I cannot even say what it is, but the characters don't click, it is all a bit too easy and the simple guy from earth is suddenly the best strategy commander on the other world without going through much stuff that explains his progress.
This story spans multiple universes. That's impressive, keeping track of storylines like that. I liked that we saw the ups and downs of Trevor. The harem action is pretty great. The descriptions of characters were good. This story made me feel good.
Wow! I just finished ruby mage and boy oh boy what a brilliant story! Action, great story, fabulous characters! The hero if a down to earth guy but when he gets mad….watch out! Honestly a strong five stars and definitely highly recommended!
I was very impressed with the premise of the book and the telling of the story. Characters, relationships and actions regarding both Earth and the other worlds was excellent. Magic and passion was fun. Unexpected great book!
He drags slaves from another world over to earth to be experimented on. Not exactly a quality MC. He's really dislikable, in a lot of ways for a lot of reasons, so I dropped it.
