One week off the coast of Newfoundland can change your life forever. A sweet, slow-burn, closed-door, contemporary romance novel set in Canada. (mostly in Newfoundland and British Columbia) It features indigenous characters and a happy ending. Floating around aimlessly in the Atlantic has a way of making one analyze their life, and it's a sobering thought when you realize no one is missing you. So, when I'm rescued by Tom, a fisherman/RCMP, cute, Haida, only-single-guy of an isolated village, I have a second chance at life. Staying there was a huge education for me, and Tom also had some counsel to throw in which was practical even if it was unsolicited. But what if this tiny island off Newfoundland and Labrador never leaves my heart? What if my respect for Tom grows into something more? What if I keep breaking into song? And how do I prevent the floppy sleeves on my medieval dress from getting wet when I wash my hands?
Ebonene Charles loves living on the west coast of British Columbia and can usually be found planning vacations within the province. She loves feeding people and going for walks in the forest. Born in Canada, she lives in a small apartment in Burnaby with her two favourite guys, her husband and son.
Sweet and charming love story set in a lonely fishing village. The main character realizes her former life was not for her and finds love and purpose with her new neighbors. She seems to like singing and dancing outdoors which seems a bit fanciful. Otherwise, well written and enjoyable. Recommend.
My thanks to the author, Ebonene Charles, and the publisher, Bogach Books, for my electronic copy of this book. #Goodreads Giveaway
Loved this heartwarming book. Thank you to the author for writing a great book. I received a digital copy of this book through Goodreads giveaways. I am so thankful because if not, I would have missed this touching story.
Little editing for spelling or grammar. Some parts were good but slow to reach a point. The singing and dancing everywhere? Wonder if she did that in her office when she had her career? Strange portrayal. Still some good points were made when the author finally got around to it.
A unique and unusual look into the life of Adelle, a young lady all alone in the world in her 20s who made a good, clean life for herself but very solitary. This story dealt almost with her soul and how it came to life after she was found floating in the ocean after an unusual tragic accident where she was the soul survivor. She was found by one of the men from an extremely rural island by one of the men, Tom, who was out fishing for the day's meal with the other men.
It took several days for her to revive consciousness. Bill and Uma, husband and wife, took care of her and nursed her back to life. There were no more then forty some people on this island and they were an extremely loving tribe who accomplished a very nice living arrangement here. She met Tom, who was very instrumental in running of this island and who hadn't met his love yet and the same for Addy.
After about 2 weeks Addy went back to Toronto, Canada, after giving interviews on her rare saving in the ocean and her beloved people there on this remote island. Tom had a sister, who had a tragic vehicle accident along with her husband and because Addy was so taken back with her new love of life from these kind and loving people she quit her extremely prestigious and high salaried job to get life back on this gentle and loving way of life. Long story short she stepped in to help Tom's niece and nephew for the many months that their parents were in the hospital. The attraction that was there between Tom and Addy grew and when he came out months later to meet up with them in Canada their love grew for each other and was as "Strong and Steady Waves" of love and they were going to marry.
SO enjoyed this soulful story and felt such love and warmth throughout. Well written and highly recommend this story which I received an early copy of for my honest and voluntary review. I really enjoyed this story. It held my attention and made me want to keep reading to find out what happens next. The only thing that was odd was that the chapters kept ending in the middle of a conversation and a new chapter started continuing the conversation. That was very weird but overall it was well done and a great love story!
I recommend: Nice romance. I liked that it hands out a couple of reminders on how to be nicer with people, and happier in your life and relationships. Although I didn’t get why the main character is singing and dancing. Seemed a little out of character to me but I just accepted it.
